Second, film geek does not mean the only thing you like are unreleased genre pictures. This fest not only gives us the opportunity to see films before the general public, but it gives us the opportunity to see older films that are worth seeing. Until things turned ugly with the Poughkeepsie Tapes every single thing was well worth the price of admission. Trick R' Treat was a great end, and there were other moments in between that added to the night. Certainly Farewell Uncle Tom was an experience that I'll never forget.

I see the overall festival as a 24 hour cram session on film. We get an opportunity to see many of the high points through the history of cinema, and a few of the low points. If that doesn't float your boat then we'll have one less person competing for the prized slots in next year.

"Damn! Can't top that, guess I should just roll out on a high note and stop doing these." But at least he tries.

I dont mean to be negative but its how I fell. By the way, I respect all of you. Well, except for those I mentioned above. Sad, really.

HEYYYY, Waddya want to bet that after BNAT JJ agreed to show Cloverfield to a select group of Harry's closest lovers..er...friends. That's why this site ain't saying anything, that's why no one is posting about BNAT. They are all bending over for their friend JJ so he will show them his cool new treat, but he asked them to yank the story. Damn IT!

I'll tell you one thing, if the first thing we here from Harry is some apoligist bullshit like "You know for me, this BNAT in many ways was my favorite, for blah...blah...blah" then you will know this site has gone into full on coverup mode.

As for someone who asked about Portland, I believe my wife and I were the only ones from Oregon... but we were on the list. Still, I feel for those who did come standby... I think they had a great time, as did pretty much everyone.

Sure, it would've been cool to see some more exclusive, unreleased stuff, but it hardly made a difference. The atmosphere, the people, the food, the caffeine, the vintage trailers, the awesome new films (Sweeney Todd, Mongol, Charlie Wilson's War), the crazy classics (The Abominable Dr. Phibes, The Great McGinty, etc.) and the downright weird (Teen Lust and Farewell, Uncle Tom) made the event for me. I'm definitely hoping for a return trip soon.

Even the worst film -- The Poughkeepsie Tapes -- was interesting enough, if only to see how people react to a move that seems to have zero value (and by seems, I mean, "doesn't have").

Tonite, Harry said Rambo was supposed to close out BNAT, but Sly said the Romanian effects company hadn't turned in more than 100 effects. So, a no go. It would have been cool to follow the new Rambo with Son of Rambow. Oh well.

Cheers to all those who made it in and came... and enjoyed. I hope those of you who would have loved it get the chance to go sometime soon.

Those of you who badmouth or throw insults at those who came -- especially the guys who came in hopes of snagging a standby seat -- probably aren't the right crowd for BNAT anyway. It's a helluva fun, albeit crazy, weird party, through and through... and I loved every minute of it.

Every year since BNAT5, basically, a few kids that have discovered the site waste their time wailing about the "weak lineup" compared to "last year".

BNAT9 was great. Many of us who go mostly look forward to the old stuff anyway, so this year was particularly good for us with the inclusion of a Kirk Douglas classic with b&w widescreen and Dr. Phibes with a new print. Of course, we also paid dearly when Farewell Uncle Tom hit the screen.

Trick r' Treat was a big surprise because I'd never really heard of it, and it turned out to be a fun little love letter to the holiday of Halloween, in they way that a love letter to that particular holiday should be written.

Charlie Wilson's War was definitely one I was dreading but ending up being pleasantly surprised by in some ways and unhappy about the heavy handedness of it in many other ways.

Teen Lust - a.k.a. as "Rapetown, USA - THE COMEDY!" Man. What was wrong with people in the 70s? Ditto for Farewell Uncle Tom.

So, premiers were fun and fine, but the old stuff was really the fun stuff this year for me, as it often is in the years I get to come. I probably would have never heard of The Mutations (a.k.a. The Freakmaker) without BNAT6.
