I just cannot see a show like this doing well in todays day and age. I loved this show growing up as a child but with the mindset of todays youth I just cannot see how this will appeal to anyone but maybe some nostalgic grown ups who will watch the 1st episode out of curiosity and then taper off in droves by the 2nd episode.

...by changing the car model, this show could be called "anything" and simply be any old show that they wanted it to be -- about a futuristic car that does cool stuff ( VIPER anybody? ) -- so why even call it Knight Rider?? ...still, Im interested since Knight Rider was part of my teenage prime-time line-up. I do find it odd that this is being brought out as though it hadn't been done already ... the Hoff was in that Knight Rider comeback years ago with the chick who became the new Knight Rider, where KITT becomes an ugly RED car that was able to convert into a slow moving BOAT... that whole thing was a disaster-- and I believe that there was a "Team Knight-Rider" show at one point wasn't there?? --they had, like-- FIVE cars or something...an SUV...a Jeep... all super low budget, even for original Knight-Rider standards. SO now we come to the decade of WELL-DONE re-imaginings and do-overs... Galactica being the best of the bunch. I love that show-- and on a certain level, its like a dream come true...all my favorite properties from my youth making it back, fresh and new and with bigger budgets and better FX and stories-- granted, some hit and some MISS... BADLY. I'll keep my fingers crossed for KITT-- in an age of live action TRANSFORMERS, the "tone" of the show will have a LOT to live up to spark the kids imaginations like it did back in the day... by KIDS, I mean ME...

...forgot to bring up the point about changing the basic model of the car... you KNOW that any fan of the old show is wanting to see an updated version of the Trans Am-- ( wheres the Pimp My Ride guys??) -- but to change the model of the car altogether may be ratings suicide-- Do you think that Herbie could be ANYTHING other than a BUG? Could the General Lee be anything other than a '69 Dodge Charger? Could Back to the Future still be cool without the Delorian? --course not! Thats why that flying train at the end of the movie was crazy cheesy! Seems that only Batman and Bond can go and change their rides on a regular basis...but they're the stars and the vehicles are only tools of the trade for THEM... KITT "IS" the star of the show...so I dont know how everyone will take it...either a cool upgrade and a good decision-- or a slap in the face. People could deal with Transformers, because all the generations used different vehicles for them, but KITT WAS and always WILL BE a Trans Am, which was essencially a camaro since they shared platforms. Gotta luv the GT500!!!!!!!!!! Still, KITT was a lot more sleek looking then the '05 and up Mustand, which is more balls to the wall power in yer face muscle!! One of K.I.T.T.s best-known attributes is that it's the fastest car on the road. This thing looks like it belongs on a construction site, not a race track. :ppp And yes, there was a TEAM KNIGHT RIDER. This car really does look terrible. K.I.T.T. is supposed to be sleek and this is so terribly bulky. Maybe if they get rid of those awful racing stripes the car wouldn't look so bad... I like the idea of a corvette, though- I can just hear K.I.T.T. "I'm a mustang now?! WTF? Whos dumbass idea was this?" and then drives off in embarassment.

I like the car. Considering Pontiac does not make the Trans Am anymore they simply had to go another route. What's wrong with a Shelby Mustang? Nothing, it's a pretty powerful and fast muscle car that can be driven around and not cause people to stop and gawk. They need to flip the grill. He looks like he's frowning. Sorta same thing happened with the ED-209 grill in RoboCop. It was, originally, the other way around and it made him look like he was smiling. They turned it upside down to make it grimacing. This for KITT just looks stupid. Flip the grill. why geeks should never talk about cars. First of all, yea this sucks. But it sucks because it misses the mark and the feel of the show. Not because the cars sucks... first, any douche complaining about "Fords" in TF'ers needs a clue. All the major vehicles were GM's, except Barricade. Second, the original was a busted ass 82 Trans Am that ran 25K max, while this is a KR (King of the Road)edition Mustang that'll prlly run ya 60K. So, it's certainly not cheap... it's just the WRONG choice.

--if you'll indulge me a sec-- I think it would actually be great if the body style was, in fact, the older Trans Am style that everyone knows him as ( KITT that is ) -- that would make KITT very unsuspecting and none of the characters on the show that he would be up against would expect that this older model was, in fact, the most advanced car on the planet-- they would shrug it off as a non-threat and BAM-- KITT would show them whats what. --general characters would alwasy be amazed that the car is always cherry and looks like new...the bad guys wouldnt give it a second look or consider it a threat in todays world... KITT would be an even more unique movie/tv vehicle since they dont make them anymore... Im assuming that the show needs the sponsorship from a major manufacturer, making them use vehicles that act more as "product placement" than plot device-- creatively, that's eventually going to backfire-- Theres no hate here, so dont get me wrong-- KITT is what he is, a TransAm from a past era-- customize him all you want as long as hes still a black TransAm-- and he'll still be the character... if you wanna make him a Mustang or something else, tha's fine too-- but just CALL him something else, then. Dont tell your audience that you're going to present KITT or Knight Rider if that's not what you plan to deliver. DISCLAIMER*-- were all going off on a LEAKED photo, by the way...(on a car that looks like it's not even completed yet..there's not even tint on the windows yet )-- who KNOWS how the show will turn out or the tone and direction it will take, so when all is said and done, we're ALL just spinning our wheels ( heh, that was a PUN) until the show comes out, right? This just shows that the old show obviously means something to a lot of us and we all walk the fine line of wanting something "new" and wanting to re-live our youth any way we can ( as long as it's OUR way! lol) -- hey, I hate getting older just like everybody else! I like the Mustang - but as K.I.T.T? NOOOO! Yet another instance of a studio trying jump on a bandwagon and make as much bank as possible without giving a tinker's toss about the source material. They could have had thousands (millions?) of fanboys foaming at the mouth with a simple idea ... It has stripes! and more damning than that, it has a name under the scanner eye, jolopnik or something. I'm sorry, but that, coupled with the totally nonsensical corba on the grill? This is someone's car that they've put a KITT scanner light on and nothing more. There's no way this is KITT, and honestly, why would they choose such a fugly car to be the new knight rider?

I like that car, i was worried that we'd be fobbed off with one of those plastic rollerscates with an engine from fast and furious, (or whatever the shite was called, Point Break with cars i call it). But thats pretty substantial looking and has a smidgen of "retro" to it. The main question is, hows it going to jump, smash through solid concrete, deflect bullets, grenades etc, ram other vehicles ? cgi or real or both ?

Well, i really think, that this show will fail, because i get the TKR-likeness of this Car in my head. And in addition, what will they do about frontal-crashes? - in the Original, almost every enemy that tryed this was launched into the air like he drove on a ramp. with this design, a real crash would occur, maybe leaving this wannabe-KITT intact, but what would happen to anyone inside? Either he gets killed by the impact, or KITT has some inertial-dampeners like in StarTrek to discharge the energy of that impact, either way seems not very good to me, tough the Driver would survive the 2nd.

Knight Rider is a simple concept. One man and a cool "futuristic car" that can talk, drive extremely fast, jump objects, bulletproof....ect,ect. Here's the problem with this version of K.I.T.T. Anyone with enough money can buy one. There is nothing special about a Mustang with a red scanner in the hood. It's like they didn't even both to try and make the car different. Point being the original was a trans am that George Barris transformed into K.I.T.T. it was blatantly a commercial for Pontiac but the car was so cool people wanted to know what type of car it was. There were no pontiac markings on the original K.I.T.T. so once again it's not about what the fans want or about making a good tv movie it's about "money" Sad thing is if it was about a good story and a cool car the money would follow. Seriously, in a nutshell K.I.T.T. can be almost any car but for pete's sake make it look like the foundation was trying to make a Mustang into a futuristic crime fighting machine. Not just go to your local Ford dealership and slap a red light under the hood. It takes away from the coolness of K.I.T.T. The car should be very unique like the Batmobile. You can't just go out and buy one or anything that remotely looks like it. Case In Point Batman 1989. Batman rescues Vicki Vale and when they leave he says "Get In The Car" and her response is "Which One" in the new Knight Rider reference it wouldn't be funny it would be true! Uhm... look for the Mustang with the little red scanner under the hood....And making a car "morph" is just plain silly. Try and keep my fiction a little more reality based. Your making me strech my boundries of reality by making the car jump over things without a ramp for Pete's sakes lets not make it shape and color shift or any other goofy thing that some writer on smack dreams up. Remember the number one show is C.S.I. and that is very reality based.....maybe tv veiwers aren't as dumb or as easy to please as you would believe.

the thing that bothers me about this car is that it almost looks like Barricade (from the Transformers movie) with the police lights removed and a new paint job.....i personally think that a pontiac should have been used myself. using a suped up ford mustang is along the lines of a cop out. also why does K.I.T.T.s "eye" have to be so high on the car? couldnt they figure out how to put it in the grill? oh well thats why im not in hollywood.....

Building a new K.I.T.T. from scratch? Something that the foundation would more than likely do. Let's face it if your going to take the time to rebuild a car and make it into a super car why not just get a frame and build one from the ground up? BTW if I worked for this project and that was "The new K.I.T.T." I'd fire the company that was hired to build it. I'd feel cheated, or at the least ripped off. I could get a cooler car from a vocational techical school with high school students. Then again I'm sure it all goes back to money and Ford having a cheap movie....I mean commercial for the Mustang.
