I watched last weeks show, the first time I'd seen Journeyman, just to support it after what was posted here on Monday. Great show, lot better then I thought it was going to be, now I'm going to get screwed like this, this sucks!!!! Bloodgood, incidentlly, is not neccassiarly a "pagan" name, there is/was a Christian metal group named Bloodgood because that was the founder and lead singer's last name, just an FYI...Moon btw imo, is hot

I just couldn't get into it. Made it all the way through episode 5, too. In this era of television, when decisions are made by the networks after a mere episode or two, you've got to hook the viewers right away. Journeyman should have started their "reveal" way earlier.

Still, that said, if true, this one is right up there with the all time idiocy greats. I mean pulling a show is one thing, but pulling a show during a writer's strike when networks are crying out for content, and with one episode left to air, and with that episode actually not only being one that will give a certain degree of resolution to those that have supported the show, but which is also the second part of a two parter, after they plan to show the first part of said two parter, ell that's just plain fucking rediculous in anyone's language. whether they aired the finale or not, i'd probably still own the dvd- knowing that in all liklihood it wouldn't come back for a second run. I enjoy owning TV on DVD, but these shows that seem to never end- they take their toll on my wallet... and Journeyman, as cool as it is/was, didn't seem like the kind of idea that could maintain its twisty turny goodness without either A) eventually borrowing from Quantum Leap or B) jumping the shark a la Lost. So i'm glad that they took their opportunity to give closure. Makes for better storytelling. NBC not airing ep 12 though, that's just fucking stupid.

NBC just seizes to amaze me. I am not saying that if I like a show it must not be cancelled, but it seems they pull the plug on anything I do like. If they are going by ratings, they should pull the plug on just about every one of their shows. They need to start advertising and finding good slots for them. I thoroughly enjoy Journeyman and Chuck. I guess I better expect a cancellation notice on Chuck soon as well. I quit around episode 3 but have been downloading them, but i mean COME ON, Journeyman is SOOOO MUCH BETTER. If there is no room, Life and Bionic should be your first options. Or if you really want to wrap up these half seasons before starting new half seasons in January, how about taking an hour from a show like Deal or No Deal that doesn't have a plot? There are so many solutions to this it's disgusting. At LEAST air it on SciFi like Outlander said, hell do a SciFi Marathon over Christmas ending with the new episode, that'll get the name out there. Didn't say I hated Journeyman. I just didn't find it compelling enough to keep watching. If The Office was too derivative of WKRP, I wouldn't be watching that show either. But The Office brought something new to the genre and caught my interest. Sadly, Journeyman just seemed to be a rehash IMHO.

Hell no! Any idiot thinking after one episode that Journeyman is the same as all the other time-shows before it simply has no clue what they're talking about and limited vision. In the past there has been Time Tunnel, Voyagers! and Sliders to name a few all that did the same thing with the genre by having the main characters stuck in a different time for 45 minutes every week unable to return home etc etc. Journey man takes on the genre in a way not done before and a lot more maturely too. He not only travels backwards in time but he comes back home always to face the consequences of his absence which considering the amount of times he leaps in every episode both backwards and forwards; is not an easy thing to tackle. The show has many under laying sub-plots that make it far more intriguing than any other Time show before it and is far better performed in terms of acting than any of them too. Anyone trying to nail it down as a "been there done that" variation of the same theme crap after one episode or even 2 or 3, is about as narrow minded as those studio execs at NBC! (who by the way suck royal sweaty balls for uncharted stupidity!)

I probably sound like a broken record in these TalkBacks, but I felt the SAME WAY after the first episode. Hell, I felt the same after Three of them. But something happened. It pulled me back in. Which is SO rare. And I guess that's all I ask, if this show can get saved somehow. If you watched and bailed, at least give it a chance to pull you back in. There's an honest-to-goodness story arc here, and things are a hell of a lot more interesting than they appeared to be on the surface early on.

Show had a good pilot, then floundered for weeks with bad stories, plot holes and character inconsistencies. I stuck with it because, well, I like background noise while I play online poker. And it really has gotten good in the last few weeks. Dan finally standing up to his brother, the mysterious "think-tank" guy, the FBI guy, Olivia...it's all coming together. If only they could have started stronger maybe people would have watched. Note to future writers (and poker players) a slow play only works if people stick around. Better to hit the ground running with your strongest ideas.

But I think watching three episodes of a show I didn't enjoy was more than fair. Networks cancel shows with poor ratings all the time, it's just business as usual. And just ask Night Stalker, Wonderfalls, Greg the Bunny, etc. - holding back "unaired episodes" helps boost DVD sales. As does ending on part one of a two parter.

That's why it gets no love at NBC while Bionic Woman is an in-house product and will stay alive. Same as Scrubs which is ABC. The issue brought up about do cop, lawyer, and medical shows count as remakes, why yes they do. CSI: Miami = Hawaii Five-0. Criminal Minds = THE FBI. Grey's Anatomy = Ben Casey or Dr. Kildare. ER = Emergency. Private Practice = Marcus Welby M.D. Desperate Housewives = Knots Landing. Law and Order = Dragnet. Two and a half Men = The Odd Couple. The Practice = The Defenders. They could have easily taken off some other shows I enjoy, like 30 Rock, The Office, and FNL which had or still have low ratings. I love JM, but no one else seems to, and NBC has to make a decision like they probably did with their other low rated shows. It truly is a great show, even with its slow start. I hope NBC realized they have a gem here and keeps it around.

Saving the episode that answers everything for the DVDs, should move more sets, which should be a bigger cash cow than the show anyways, and will also be a way for NBC to pay less residuals. Or else it is more of a publicity stunt, hoping to get some free publicity from angry fans, like the story of Blackwater...um, I mean Jericho. Amazing that they will soon be out of scripted shows entirely and they can't find room at any time, ever, not even on a cable subsidiary, to air the conclusion to a show they do have time to air the first part of. Again, this is why people are giving up on TV in droves. This will be the same strategy FOX will use on the next Whendon show. Is anyone still on the side of the studios over the writers???

meaning it was local channels making the scheduling decisions, not the network. As for Journeyman, I think after Lost frustrated so many people, viewers have become less patient with sci-fi shows. As was said above, they needed to start the reveal earlier. Plus, a lot of the dialogue was just flat. Way too much telling instead of showing -- "oh, by the way, I conveniently forgot to tell you this poker game is really important. If I had remembered to tell you that earlier, we wouldn't have a third act."

JOURNEYMAN kicked into gear about two episodes ago and is finally starting to realize its potential, however... given those ratings you can't blame NBC if they pull the plug. I'm amazed they left it on through the sweeps. On the other hand this series would be perfect for the Sci-Fi network. At least to burn off any unaired episodes. (That reminds me - side-note to Sci Fi Network: Amanda Tapping is out of place and wasted on Stargate: Atlantis. The show seems completely out of whack. Bring back Higginson.)

I've watched this show from the get go. Like it a heck of a lot. Not up there with LOST, and I prefer Heroes over it, but it is my number 3 show. With all the crap on TV, they can't leave this on? I know its all ratings/numbers etc. Maybe put it on NBC run SciFi otherwise. But please give it a chance.

I'm sure NBC put this series on their sched because they were looking for intelligent Sci-Fi adventure shows like Heroes, Well, sorry to say Heroes ain't even CLOSE to Heroes season one right now(probably a main reason why they're ending it early- they really didn't HAVE to- they WANTED to), and Journeyman is the kind of intelligent drama that unfolds, much like an onion, in that sometimes you have to watch a few eps to realize the bigger picture. Unfortunately most execs are not that patient, unless like they mentioned above, they actually OWN the show and are willing to invest the time, energy, and patience for it to build an audience. So, this show will go the way of Twin Peaks and Firefly, going over the heads of the execs and the infantile, and selling like nuts on DVD as folks pray that their investment of money and time pay-off in a nice little DVD packaged bow. I hope the production company gets the lionshare of the money from the DVD and not the network! NBC dropped, or is dropping, the ball on this one folks. If you would bother to take the time to WATCH each episode each one is a small step to a bigger staricase. Granted it WAS a slow start, but I can see it WAS going to be one long and well crafted staircase! NBC wants to give-up on this and yet back more of the same crap they always do- if they don't want to try to save or reschedule the program to try to gain more veiwership (since it IS opposite the POWERHOUSE of CSI Miami- clearly the Batman camp classic of the decade!)- again, it's THEIR call. I wouldn't have watched this show if I hadn't seen 2 eps back-to-back that I had recorded, now their own network site doesn't offer all the eps for veiwing online- they've clearly given up, and that's sad. On the bright side. those of us that have seen the show for the gem that it is will have a nifty DVD set to give as gifts for the next few years to our fellow sci-fi "geeks" of another great show that the nets had no idea how to handle (like Twin, like Firefly, like Miracles, like Wonderfalls, like Profit...et all). Hurray for us!

from the moment in the pilot when he digs up the ring and says "I'll always come back." I'm a bit behind on my DVRd episodes but I really want this show to make it. I'm not holding my breath, though. Between these kind of bonehead studio moves, the strike, and the recent crackdowns on bittorrent sites (even the comics ones), I'm getting more and more embittered about corporate entertainment. I really think things need to change in a serious overhaul kind of way with these industries. The old way is dying but rich fat cats keep on trying to apply the paddles.

.. would be to say at the outset, to the audience... The show will be on THIS many seasons, and no more. That way we know how the stories will play out in the sens of time frames and we won't assume as much that the writers are stretching things out in order to get to that syndication sweet spot. BSG and Lost have both realized this. One need only watch the last few episodes of Alias (a show I happened to like, a lot) to see how badly things can go at the end when you have to rush to a finish. It felt like sex with a cheerleader. You wait forever, everyone tells you it's gonna be amazing, and when it's all over you wish you would have hung out with the weird chick that's hot now instead.

My need for TV wasn't healthy, and I've already started doing other things with my life before even having too (given that we still have new content to watch). It's like, all the Hollywood antics have finally gotten to me and I just don't care anymore. My thank you was not sarcastic. Oh, I'll still watch my favorite shows (albeit with less zeal), but you've finally taught me (took long enough) not to bother with any of the new stuff or to even care so much when shows I like (like this) get canceled and crap like Bionic Woman will go on for years. And knowing that I'm about to be going nine months without any new TV is oddly liberating. I will gloat over the devastation this strike will bring to both sides. Both sides deserve to lose.

The same network that ran Quantam Leap for what seem like FOREVER (pun intended). The last two seasons or so, they introduced the "Evil Leaper" and had a brief handle on something that might have been compelling. JM has covered much more ground and is heading into some interesting territory, with a strike on no less, and the numbskulls in charge are clueless. Are they smoking peacock shit during breaks now?

As far as the show is concerned, I thought it could've become something good over a second and third season, this first one was not great but it was good (Looked liked a revmap of Quantum Leap - Thanks Ninja Nerd for the reminder). I still think that they should at least air the last show, I mean I hate it when they do that. If not on tv, at least put it up on the site so we can see it. I have not been impressed this year with the new shows, I mean some were good but not great. Moonlight seems to be getting better, Reaper will be a favorite for a while, but I still don't see the BIG HIT yet. Too bad they started cancelling shows way too fast it the past couple of years. At least let the damn thing end, give us the answers we want to know. And why this show and not Life??? I mean isn't that just another kind of CSI: Miami?? The guy even acts like that idiot Caruso, he seems to have the same poses, the same BIG one liner that makes the show go in a direction execpt he says it in the middle of the show instead of the start of the show. But in all, it's just another copy of another show. If they cancel Journeyman, I think they should also cancel Life.

Just accept you will not win the timeslot and let those of us who are watching continue to watch. For those who think it will be released on DVD, think again. There is no guarantee. Network probably has projections on how many DVDs will sell based on ratings and might not think it will be worth it. After all, where is the Daybreak dvd, or Eyes, or Reunion, or Blind Justice, or Justice, or Hawaii, or LAX (just to name a few recent season 1 cancelled shows, good or bad)?

So, I gave Journeyman another chance, based on the what I heard in some of these talkbacks. It really has improved a lot, too bad the episode I watched last night wasn't the first episode. It would probably be doing better with the ratings. Although I still think the show has only itself to blame. Pretty much every one agrees that the first three or four episodes were kind of boring, only after which, it found it's mark. Honestly that's some pretty bad odds. When many of the shows active supporters believe that 40% of it's run isn't very good. I hope they bring it back for a second season though. what it really needs is a fresh start, now that it's finaly delivering. The problem is, to enjoy time-travel stories you need to get in on the ground-floor. I'm not suprised Journeyman is haveing trouble winning people back. The other day I watched Back To The Future part two, and tried to imagine not haveing seen the first one. It's amazingly bizare. If somehow the first one had never been made, Back To The Future II would be one of the weirdest most incomprehensible post-modern art films of all time. Anyway I feel your pain, Journeyman devotees, I was fighting mad when Arrested Development was canceled, But in the end we've all got to suffer at the handsof the Neilson-box families and their lowest common denominator tastes.

I've been forcing the little woman to watch this one with me. she didn't hate it, but she certainly didn't love it. she turned a corner with the last two episodes and she credits the character development of the brother. she wanted to see him in a more positive light, and that finally happened. too bad we may not get to see that character grow more. :(
