Where the heck is the season 3 DVD? You'd think it would come out before the next big TV Movie thingy. Those of us that watch show's exclusively on DVD's are getting impatient. Still, it's the best show on TV next to Black Books.

I'm in the UK and I've had the boxset for quite some time now. Only thing is though other than the "story so far" Dvd theres no extra's and given that theres a gag reel and loads of other stuff floating round the net it's a bit dis appointing that they're were'nt included in the extras. Bet you guys in states get loads more extras, given how long it'staking it to be released over there you could have all the webisodes etc as well.

I have been watching the series on DVD, I am almost finished with the 2nd half of season 2 and I have the DVD of "Razor" on hold with Netflix. So, what is the deal with these "Razorettes"? Will all of them be on the DVD or will I have to look online for them? Would it be a good idea to watch the vignettes before or after "Razor" itself? I can't stand that I didn't get into 'Galactica' until now, this show is incredible and I am getting further and further drawn in by it.

I'm pretty sure the minis will be included on the final DVD. As I understand them, they used to actually be a part of the Razor feature, but most were cut from the final product. I dunno why they cut part 3...that one was badass.

I also live in germany. The fact that I should have to wait a year until I can finally see a tv-show that, months ago, has been discussed and dissected on filmsites and message boards only to see it on german tv in a shitty fucked up dubbed version is intolerable. Everyone should be able to LEGALLY watch tv-shows at the same time. I don't have any regrets about watching downloaded episodes. If they come out on dvd I happily replace the downloaded files with the real thing. [br] [br] It's just that the official market doesn't seem to be ready for what is already a global field of consumers. [br] Download the third season of BSG and buy the DVD once it's out there.

Didn't see anything on the site about this, so I thought I'd chime in here. I saw a screening of BG: Razor on November 12. The 9:00 screening took place at the Cinemark Theatre in Evanston (just north of Chicago). The place was only half-full, even thought the screening was free (don't know if the other earlier screening was full of not). They started off with some commercials for some XBox games; I am not a gamer so I have no comment. Then they showed an interview with Seth Green about his role in the game. Razor was divided into two parts with some more XBox commercials at halftime (same ones as before the show!). Afterwards, there was a preview of BG Season 4, which amounted to some clips from Season 3, with one shot at the very end that was new: Starbuck screaming something that amounts to a major spoiler (not for a specific plot point, but more a spoiler to the general arc of the season). They also showed a trailer for the DVD version of Razor, which (based on what we saw in the trailer) contains additional footage about Admiral Cain's childhood, and the complete version of the Young Adama webisodes currently airing on the web (selected footage from the webisode is in the television / theatre preview version of Razor, but not all ofi t). Razor itself is all right, but nothing spectacular. (POSSIBLE SPOILERS AHEAD) Razor flashes back and forth between material taking place during Season 2, and material taking place before Season 1. The story basically follows a new character named Kendra who comes aboard the Battlestar Pegasus just before the Cylon War II begins. Cainis hard on her, but Kendra rises to the occasion and earns respect. Flash forward to Lee Adama's command of Pegasus: Kendra is around and becomes Apollo's Executive Officer. She helps dismantle a secret Cylon base where they are hiding the remains of an early attmept to crossbreed humans and Cylons, a sort of mssing link between the old-skool 1970s Cylons and the human-looking ones of modern times. Cain comes off as a complete psychopath, shooting her own officers in the head for insubordination, sending the Pegasus on suicide missions, and ordering the deaths of civilians. She is absolutely out of her mind. Badly written, badly played. The audience tittered once or twice as Adama cracks a joke about her, but the only REAL reaction from the audience is when we get to see 1970s Cylons in action. When one speaks (two measly lines) the audience went wild. Nothing else really got a reaction! Ths probalby goes to illustrate how lackluster Razor is. It doesn't suck, but neither did it really move people much. There are some weak plot points, and the whole thing just seems to be treading water without really advancing the Galactica mythos much. Starbuck, Apollo, Adama, Kendra, and Cain are the main players; Number 6 is in it a bit too. Baltar is in like one scene, some of the other big players are missing altogether. Digital projection looked good, but on the big screen, some of the digital effects looked a little cheap (although they'll look fine on the small screen).
Razor = Amazing

I saw Razor at one of the screenings. I thought it was some of best work they've done in the series. I had a couple of problems with the story logic though -

Without giving anything away, let me just ask: why were those cylon ships looking for a fight if they would have been better off keeping a low profile?

And I didn't buy the revelation at the end about [censored character]'s actions. Compelling, but I didn't buy it. I've knocked RDM before for this - sometimes he likes to shock us for the sake of shocking us. It's not that I didn't believe the... possibility... I just didn't see it in the character's arc. Maybe in the extended version it works better.

I still think this is ***** five stars and can't imagine how SciFi saw this and didn't change their mind about wrapping up the show.
I thought Razor was great.

Pegasus came and went all too quickly and I was left wondering what the point was but Razor redeemed it for me. It's kind of like how the New Caprica story seemed rushed but as Season 3 built toward Baltar's trial the tension it created among the crew lent it greater meaning. Cain is a psychopath and it's difficult to feel any sympathy for her but she's not the focus of Razor; Kendra is. I thought Razor was going to be a side story with no relevance to the greater plot but, although you don't see much of the usual Galactica cast (something that works in its favor IMO), there are genuine developments that will be important to Season 4. Moreover, it felt good to be watching again after such a long hiatus; made me realize how crappy so much current television is in comparison.

You guys dropped the ball I was looking for this talkback on the night of Nov 12th for the people who went to the screenings. The company who organized the screenings did a piss poor job (opus solutions). My people registered and never got confirm emails but were still on the list at the theater. I went to a 9pm showing in Dallas and the theater was packed. I enjoyed Razor, can't wait to see it in HD, I was not impressed by the way it looked on the big screen, BSG pops on TV but not so much on the big screen. Spoilers..... Razor is a great bone to throw the BSG nation until next April (frack can't wait that long). You get an insight into Admiral Cain and why she is such a bitch with something to prove. And all the rumors you heard about Cain are played out on screen. Some nice nods to the orginal series and even an A-Team reference. So all in all Razor is a nice snack but we are hungry for the main course SEASON 4. Fracking have to wait until April.

Not particularly titillating that Lee Adama is an important player (or not). There aren't that many characters left to choose from. In fact, nearly every major human character either has visions or is a cylon. Maybe we'll find a good reason for that...

Yes, that was the final one. BSG: Razor airs this coming Saturday I believe. I saw it and it was quite good in my opinion. I tend not to be as harsh on this show as some talkbackers seems to be because every show is going to have it's flaws and weaknesses - but in my opinion BSG's excellent moments far outweigh any problems with the show. Definatly one of my all time favorite tv shows.

the xbox 360 ads inserted into the middle of the free

screening were a bit jarring as i'm not accustomed to ads breaking up a movie (and on tv anymore i don't watch when it's aired so i can fast forward through that stuff).

the other thing that struck me is how obvious it is that they rely so heavily on close-ups of actor reactions to stuff happening rather than showing that stuff as fx cost more than a close-up. it works on tv. in a movie theater, not so much.

also caught a big-screen screening of the menagerie. the director in 1966 or '67 did not rely as heavily on close-ups. even at over 40 years old, it seemed more at home on a big screen than razor.

oh, and pike's blonde chick dancing as the green alien slave girl? that alone was worth the price of admission.

which brings up a question. was roddenberry forced to change the captain's name to kirk because pike was too overtly phallic???

so this means that the Cylon LET them survive all this time...
by SantiagoAtez
Nov 17th, 2007

And that doesn't make sense. If they wanted Lee to survive the attack and be on the BSG, then it means this is all part of their plan...wtf? This plot development really strains the believability of the show.

I noticed when I watched the razor episode that it credits 'Young Cain' This is because the 'extended features' on the DVD are a full backstory of the past of Adama and Cain. Considering that there is no HDTV / DD 5.1 release of Razor that will be airing (and there is pretty good audio mixing if you went and viewed it) unless you have a high-bitrate entirely digital source for Scifi you are going to wait to wait for the DVD. It is less than one week from the airdate.

my "Hybrid Theory" short-form version:

The Cylon in the temple that D'Anna apologized to ("I'm sorry, I did'nt know") was a Hybrid.

The introduction of the Hybrid included the suggestion that some cylons think she spews gibberish, while others think every syllable is directly from God.

The Hybrid had insights into Baltar, the Temple, etc.

D'Anna was not one who had any regard for the hybrids, and just before she went into the temple, her big fear was that she would become crazy, like the hybrid.

Hybrids are omnipresent in the cylon plans, guiding their ships, filtering and providing sensor data, etc.
