and some good friends of mine who are still on the inside have said that they have heard (unconfirmed) rumors that there will most likely be one more season of "Curb." Last season was supposed to be the last one, and Larry felt compelled to do some more. A friend told me that she heard that Cheryl Hines, while her character left Larry, would still be active in the show in subsequent seasons and the divorce drama would be dealt with next season. Of course it's all up to Larry David. If he wants to do more he will, if not, he won't. But supposedly he loved working on this season and the consensus is that he's looking forward to doing another one. Again, this is just coming from some friends. May not be true or set in stone, but I certainly hope we get to see one more season.

" i really felt cheryl's leaving came out of nowhere, there was no lead up, just boom, although i guess its supposed to be based on his life and his real wife left him to so he had no choice but to write that into the show, i just think it could have had a better lead up" Maybe that was the point. He may have been blind-sided by his wife leaving him. I wondered how he was going to handle it and I wonder if he had written the first few episodes before she left him. Anyway, this season had its ups and downs but when it was funny, it was really funny. I hope he does more.

early this season, so the leaving thing didn't suprise me. Some people also pointed out how agressive she was with Larry's will a few seasons back. She was also willing to give him more chances, and instead of turning a new leaf, Larry faked a robbery and didn't confess even though it resulted in someone else spending time in jail.
Leon is indeed a great addition to the show

The big vagina conversation between Jeff and Larry is one for the ages. Almost as good as "beloved cunt." I've always felt Curb was kind of hit and miss, with some unfunny stretches mixed in with the funny ones. This may be the result of the scenes being largely improvised. But when Curb is funny it is fall on the floor, can't catch your breath funny. I hope HBO lets Larry do this for as long as he wants.

With all the quality HBO shows ending in a cluster, it's great to see Curb might have more life in it yet with 2 more possible seasons (at least). Also, no one's mentioned Tell Me You Love Me, which--I know I'm in the minority here--turned out to be my favorite new show of this season by far. Some of the most mature acting and writing I've ever seen on TV. Granted it's not everyone's cup of tea (I only know 1 other person who likes it), but it really did fill that void of sophisticated tv made for adults that has been so gaping of late. I love the explosion of geek and cult shows as much as anyone, but I still like a good think piece to give it some balance. Anyone else even watching this show?? (I guess someone must be since it thankfully got picked up for another season.)

Really, milking a success until it whithers up and dies is stupid. Larry David is fortunate that his show focuses on him as a real person so he could still do a lot of other projects and keep fans happy - as opposed to someone like Kelsey Grammar who is "Frasier" and audiences only like to see him as "Frasier", making it difficult for him to branch out and continue working. CURB should end, but Larry David should continue!
Laurie David is a massive bitch

All reports on her is she is an egotistical, abusive, private-jet environmentalist. Cheryl Hines character was basically a sweet person but he did have her bitch moments. She made them sell their house because of a power wire hanging across their lawn. Larry can't even use soft toilet paper. I'm very politically conservative and I get a kick out of the way Larry David portrays Hollywood liberals and the whole PC thing.

I bitched about the lack of a TB in the Buffy comic TB, so props to Herc for listening and I also called that Susie moment in the montage at the end as one of, if not, the single greatest couple of seconds in Curb history.

And although I would love more seasons, a part of me wants it to stop there, it was a satisfying ending, and if there was another season I would guess a reset button would be pressed and it wouldn't be Larry and the Blacks, and I kinda like the idea that Larry is spending the rest of his life just like that last montage...

This is the perfect coda. After six years of giving/receiving pain in that Hollywood milieu, Larry actually found some semblance of salvation (the theme of Season 5) with a working class family. As discomfiting as this sounds, it's all rather uplifting.

first up, the guys from ENTOURAGE were on HOWARD STERN last week, (bababooyee!) and they confirmed, larry david signed on for at least TWO more seasons. why larry is a genius. the whole year, im thinking, why is vivica fox on this show, when she got no funny lines, or situations. then you see the ending, and realize, he had this planned all along, to hook up with vivica fox. and you know what? she looked SMOKING hot with that super weave during the dance number. larry david rules, and im psyched he is back for 2 more years.

I love Curb and all, but I really felt that much of this season was kind of mediocre. I liked the fact that a random black family lives in Larry's house and there were certainly funny moments, but I don't feel it lived up to past seasons. Tell Me You Love me was great and I'm glad it got renewed, but I still feel that show could do with just an ounce more levity.

What an unwatchable, horribly written pile of crap. The only good thing that happened in the whole season was when that bitch had a miscarriage. I didn't think anybody was still watching it after the 2nd or 3rd episode. For a show that wanted to appear authentic and penetrating, it sure wasn't very authentic or penetrating. The men were especially badly written. None of them acted like real men. I don't remember the name of any of the characters, but the younger actor was smarmy and sleazy and hugely self-impressed with his nasally self, and the show gave us no reason at all for the hot brunette to care about him or want to go back to him. I just wanted him to get hit by a bus. The guy that didn't want to knock up his wife was supposed to be a contracter but didn't look like h knew the first thing about construction, was a pussy and had one of the douchiest hairccuts I'v ever seen. the guy that didn't want to fuck his wife (this guy had the least relationship to reality of any character in the show) came off as creepy and weird. Not one storyline was compelling or realistic or insightful. It was a pretentious snoozefest from start to finish. The most despicable thing of all about the show was all the revolting granny porn with that utterly superfluous shrink character. How is anyone supposed to beat off to that shit? If you're going to do pretentious softcore, at least make the porn halfway decent. Those old lady scenes were boner killers.

to me that generally means he has something to come back for. I'm sure with his divorce, he'll have plenty to get pissed off about. I've enjoyed this season more than the last few, and from the phone call onward, this season was golden. I'll also note that we ordered a pizza last night since there was too much TV on, and the delivery driver came to the door while Larry was yelling about how he didn't stick a gerbil up his ass, which had to be the best possible time ever for a delivery driver to come to my door.

While the characters were indeed unlikable, I found "Tell Me You Love Me" absolutely riveting and the acting second to none. It's definitely not everyone's cup of tea -- hell, probably not even most people's -- but I think the shows was a singular achievement. I don't think there's ever been such a cerebral and genuine examination of the difficulty of making a real relationship work. I'm glad HBO had the balls to renew it.

HBO is the new cable to brag about having
by qweruiop
Nov 13th, 2007
11:35:47 AM
Remember a while ago when nobody hardly ever had cable, and the people that did (with their huge satellite) used it as a bragging piece. Well now that everybody and their uncle has cable, HBO has become the new "thing" to brag about having since the ratio of people having both cable and HBO is a small one. Thus the montage, "yeah yesterday on HBO I saw...", or "Have you seen the new HBO show..." seems like the new cool thing to state.

Would be a good band name. And I heartily concur that tepid sex drama HBO offering is unwatchable (apparently a lot of other people agree with me given the ratings). HBO is typically very supportive of it's shows--they even let John from Cincinnati go nine episodes (eight more than any other network would have allowed). So I am not terribly surprised they renewed this crap show; but more importantly, they renewed it because--they have no new programming in the drama vein! What were they going to do? All the have now is Big Love (a nice show but not a "destination" show) and The Wire (the show forever to be known as "the best show ever that no one ever watched"). So they almost had to renew this P.O.S. softyporn, simply to fill out the schedule next year. Let's hope the get some new blood in there soon and get back on track. "It's not television, it's HBO" is starting to become comical.

Larry's new family was hilarious. Leon is hilarious. In fact he should get his own spin-off show. One thing that kind of bothers me though is shouldn't Larry date someone closer to his age. Wouldn't it have been funnier if he dated the woman playing Vivica Fox's mother. I read someone's post that the split with Cheryl came out of nowhere. Is this guy nuts? Where has he been the entire series? These two should have broken up a long time ago. There is way more chemistry between Larry and the Blacks than he ever had with Cheryl. Cheryl Hines was easy on the eyes and all the comedy for the show was generated by Cheryl, the normal average wife, trying to domesticate larry, the self-absorbed, abrasive new york hillbilly, but in their case opposites should have never attracted. If they do have another season lapd should be at larry's house every episode. They should cut loose and larry and leon should become the next lucy and ethel, butch and sundance, lenny and squiqqy. Whatever works, but go nuts.
