HuffPo mentioned Bono being at the set earlier this week... He and Williams worked together in Africa and are supposed to be close, but if he's the guest from music it'd have to be something pretaped like a digital short. Personally, I love Brian Williams when he appears on The Daily Show and I'll definetly be watching tonight to see how he handles SNL.

this is the perfect time for these comedians to prove their true talent. let them write the entire show, no outside help, no writer's crew. seth and amy could write the weekend update. hader could do pacino for half the show and i'd still be dying from laughter. samberg could put together a great short and forget the music guest, i usually turn the channel when that comes on anyway. c'mon guys step up and get it done.
I'd keep it going as a music and stand-up venue...

"Original scheduled musical guest Amy Winehouse was forced to withdraw as she has been banned from travelling to the US by the British police after her arrest for cannabis possesion."

Of course, this IS from wiki so who knows, I don't give enough of a shit about her to actually verify this. If this episode actually happens (with the strike and all), could we get a "live via sattelite" performance?

Figures they'd get it together right before a strike. The gag with BW leaving himself a message was way too telegraphed though. Should've left off the intro or changed it 'return my messages' or something that didn't make the pay-off so obvious.

Will SNL actually be effected by the writer's strike?
by TVguy4566
Nov 3rd, 2007
11:56:10 PM
You mean they actually paid writers to write the crap they have been putting out the last decade or so? For a while there I thought they just had Jimmy Fallon and Horatio Sanz just get baked, dress up in costumes, and just crack themselves up on stage. Since they left, it hasn't gotten much better

I say keep it going and just let the actors improv the scenes. I don't know if can be worse than sketches like the Falconer.

to have sex with Sarah Silverman... except lately Sarah Silverman is too skinny to have sex with anything except a spider-monkey, which is why she and Jimmy play Scarbble all night.

Note to Feist and anyone else: once you sell your song as a commercial, you don't get to promote it on SNL any more (Unless you're U2).

Amy Winehouse's bad tattoos creep me out and Dwight "the Rock" Euphemismforpenis already hosted SNL, so we're just as well off without that one.

the funniest bot: Al Gore springing into action and... wait, that was an ad for "30 Rock". Then, the Dr. Who parody... no, wait, that was Dr. Who on PBS at 1:00. Okay, the funniest line was Seth's "Did you see that, he got my tie." Which, you'll notice, isn't actually a funny line. Well, okay, the iPhone ad was funny. Kinda.

a few thousand bucks, I assume. i don't know what the ads for - who pays attention to commercials any more? :ets say a department store or a credit card or something. But I know I've heard that first song she did a lot, and I don't listen to modern radio.

Orionsangel, actors read off "Cue" cards, a queue is like a ticket line, and I think "que" is Mexican for "What?"

Pod, the Candice Bergen hosted Christmas episode with musical guest Frank Zappa was excellent, therefore you are wrong. But let us agree to disagree; taste is subjective after all.

Having a newsguy host
by Napoleon Park
Nov 4th, 2007
01:43:57 AM
is like having a sports guy host. i have no idea who they are. And MOST of William's sketches were about him being Brian Williams. Which is only funny or only makes sense if you know who he is.

So if he's Brian Williams, than who's Brian Dunkleman?

Williams is so amazing at dry humor....

He needs his own show outside of the news. If he did something like the original Office... it'd be a hit. For some reason I kept thinking that he would've been right at home in Dr. Strangelove.

pretty funny, especially Darrell Hammond as Bill Clinton and Horatio Sanz as Bill Richardson. Obama did OK as Obama. Brian Williams did surprisingly good: the NY fireman was good. Feist live is not as good as it should have been: I agree the Letterman appearance was good, the best live one of her I have seen. Her videos are good: 1234 and Mushaboom (the red scarf-outdoor woods-flashing scenic-sunset one, not the flying-in the city one (although the reaching through the mirror to draw on her reflection as it drew on her was neat)).

QL went off the air about 15 years ago yet it seems it is the best, maybe only, job he's had since then until being the pricipal in a teen drama on the CW.

Most surprising line of the night (surprised they got away with it) was during Bronx Beat: "Do you know mouth-to-mouth? How about ass-to-mouth? Does your mouth go south?".

I guess they felt they had to do a debate sketch but they should have tried harder. It was a meandering mess that went on way too long. Instead of doing behind the scenes before the debate they could have done the debate with everyone attacking Hilary with the stuff they were discussing, like saying she is anti-mexican if she disagrees with Sanz's character. Just random, non-sensical stuff. Or have the debate moderator be Kristen Wigg's crazy one-up-you character.
