I give him a few more films to equal Darko.I'm still unsure whether I can stomach the Rock in Southland,....but who knows....at least he has some original ideas, which is sorely lacking today in Hollywood.
He's gotta get over Southland Tales somehow...

This sounds like a good Kelly flick. Let's forget that downtime with Stifler and get on with FILMMAKING!

i remember watching it and thinking. That would make a cool movie, too bad its already been done. a really annoying women gets the box. says if she presses the button she will get $200000 and someone she" doesnt know"will die. she presses it gets her 200g. Then the dude takes the box back and goes. i am going to give it to someone you dont even know. What a cheeky bastard that kelly is. exact same premis. still it could be cool. just wierd that that is like the only ep i have seen, and i watched it and thought cool. Now kellys doing it. Like something out of THE TWILIGHT ZONE. na ne na na na ne na na.

God these people don't waste any time.
Hmm, in semi-seriousness, this sounds retarted.
Bet this is gonna be solid.

I like the simplicity of the premise. Kelly tends to complicate his storylines way too much, so this is a very welcome change. Not the biggest Marsden fan, though.
Should we expect in 10 years time?

Only thing that will make it better is if 'Clops does his "Hairspray" dance in every scene.

His name is Jimmy, he only changed it to James to be taken more seriously. And it's not working. Hell, I loved "Sugar and Spice", cheered when he got killed in X3, and am looking forward to "Enchanted" to see this guy get beaten up. :)

Cool cast, great concept, brilliant director. I'm there
RIchard Kelly is not a 'brilliant director'.

He's made one great film - Darko. And nothing else, even Southland Tales looks suspect. If we were to claim everyone who ever made one great film a 'brilliant director', then we'd all be saying that about Jan De Bont, wouldn't we? But we are most definitely not.

I read through parts of "Hunted Past Reason" since i couldn't find "I Am Legend" in my library, and I sincerely hope that "Legend" is better than that. Because that book was shit.

About the time capsule with the children's drawings depicting the future? It sounded a little bit like Donnie Darko but still interesting.

I like Kelly and the premise has promise (heh) but I agree about not seeing it stretched into a feature, and I can't stand Marsden(always a d-bag in movies, must be one in real life) or Diaz (way past prime) and what has she done that's good anyway. I like Darko like everyone else but am skeptical of this and Southland, here's hoping they turn out though

In my opinion the I Am Legend book/story is phenomenal, I highly recommend it, and while I'm at it, I just read No Country for Old Men and that was one of the best books I've ever read, The Road was great too
Not really a big fan of this premise...

But then good writing's good writing. My brother calls Richard Kelly too clever for his own good. At this point, I might have to agree...
Kelly's not too clever for his own good.

You just don't get it. I bet you're over thirteen years old.
If the premise is simple it should serve Kelly well

I think he can be a fine director but I'm not so sure that Kelly is able to accurately write what he's thinking. He may be clever, but it isn't translated well in his scripts. SOUTHLAND TALES I think is just waaaaaaaay too ambitious of a project that Kelly couldn't make it coherent, at all. I think part of why Darko worked was that the story was subjected on just Donnie. I think if Kelly can fixate himself on just one or two main characters he'll be fine. He's got a good sense of making things look pretty. Even though I didn't at all like SOUTHLAND TALES it did look nice.
