I'm probably in the minority but I'm tired of being cock teased by shows with all these short webisodes/razorettes/whatever. It's like going to a restaurant and ordering your favourite food, but they only bring out enough of it for one mouthful, leaving you completely unstatisfied. Just show the real thing FFS!

But I would definately say that the flashbacks to Cain's command were not as powerful as they could have been. They pretty much followed beat for beat everything that we had been told with virtually nothing new or riveting added. (Cain's "So Say We All" moment excluded coz I thought that was great) However the main timeline following Apollo was all good, and the way it ends really leaves you wanting season 4 to start right now.

.....gold, that is. That's all I'm gonna say about that. The fall of the Scorpion shipyards was particularly satisfying albeit brief, in the vein of old-school sci-fi deep space opera. Just good old Galactica at its best. You can just tell that Razor has R.D.M.'s John Hancock all over it unlike most of the episodes of Season 3. Sci-Fi need to do themselves a huge favour and throw all kinds of silly money at Moore to do one more Season after a non-stretched Season 4 if they're interested in anything like good programming. I know they pride themselves in a long-honoured tradition of prematurely killing great shows/series, but.....er......seriously guys, for real. Oh and Pegasus is where the Series, thus far, peaked - with a brief uptick at the start of Season 3 with Exodus. It's been mostly downhill since then. Razor seems to provide a tonnage of hope for Season 4. Can't wait!!

Hot hot hwat!!! Plus old school Cylons!!! God damn what a blast. Its ashame the 4th season will be the last. But Razor was great, can't wait to see it with ads on Sci-Fi, specially the Direct TV ones telling me I need Direct TV for HD Sci-Fi. The Internets>Direct TV. And word to sci-fi, little featurettes won't save Flash Gordon. I like how disconcerned they are to be ending BSG, yet they will strech out the last season, and use it to help out a shitty show somebody greenlighted and hopefully got fired for.

How the series will end
by Mazzke
Nov 3rd, 2007
06:50:09 AM
I think the tagline pretty much gives away how season 5 will end. For those who haven't seen the Razor stuff, it was something like: "That which happened before will happen again." To me, that screams the following events:

1) They get to Earth and discover that their ancestors, i.e. the founders of the original 12 colonies, were exiled from Earth.

(2) They discover that the Earth humans also created a mechanical cylon-like race that they went to war with.

(3) They learn that those mechanical creations also managed to create skin jobs (organic versions of themselves) like the new Cylons did.

(4) They learn that the colonial founders were exiled because they weren't human; they were the organic versions of the Earth's first robotic race. Unlike the Colonies, the earth humans decided that their skin jobs were sentient, living beings and that they could not wipe them out. So, they exiled them instead.

(5) They learn that those original skin jobs colonialists decided to bury the memories of their exile so they could start fresh.

(6) They will then flash back and show how the cylons learned, during their efforts to create a hybrid in between the two Cylon wars, how to access those buried memories of the colonies true history.

(7) They will learn that the Cylons wiped out the colonies because they wanted to force some key humans to seek out their original planet, a task that they had not figured out how to do themselves.

(8) The bsg crew finally realize sthat they are exactly the same as the Cylons.

(9) Colonol Tye jumps in the air and has a Menthos moment.

"That which happened before will happen again."

by Mazzke
Nov 3rd, 2007
06:55:22 AM
Oh, that also explains what's up with Kara Thrace. I think she's a special skin job created by the old Earth humans programmed to warn Earth if the colonist ever tried to come back. When she disappeared, she made contact with them. She was then sent back to bring them all to Earth, where they will be destroyed for breaking their exile.

Note that the hybrid creature in Razor pretty much said the same thing.

Although Exodus was awesome, they got back to the status quo much too quickly in S3, getting off New Caprica and getting Galactica's crew back into their original roles.

Kai_Mah'gra, I totally agree about the series peaking with Pegasus/Resurectio Ship, and losing the plot largely in the latter 2/3 of Season 3. Although I'm among those that thought the Dylan/Watchtower/Starbuck-retu rn finale was absolutely magnificent. :^)

It is better than pretty much anything else on tv at the moment but it isn't all that great.

***minor spoilers***

It is basically all about showing how different the crew of Galactica was from that of Pegasus.

It kept jumping back and forth between Apollo as commander and Cain as commander which I found disjointing. In the first 10 minutes we’re told 3 times that Pegasus’ network was down (once by Tricia Helfer’s Gina character). We get Pegasus’ version of the “So say we all” chant which is extra cheesy.

The only real good think I can see is that it sets up what possibly might be an explanation for how Tigh could be a cylon.

I'm speculating that during the timeframe of Adama's flashback there could have been a switcharoo with a "real" Tigh. Total speculation though. probably completely wrong.

only one problem I can see with your hypothesis - Cylons can't reproduce... It's the thing that separates a "skinjob" from a human - one produces offspring, the other just produces carbon copies - clones... I could have misinterpreted, but I believe the reason the hybrid thing was so important to the Cylons was because of this fact that they can't reproduce on their own - wasn't that the POINT of the farms?

I totally agree with the peak of this show being somewhere around the Pegasus. I think they could have done the Pegasus story better, but Exodus was a nice way to make up for that mistake - and it was DEFINITELY ALL DOWN HILL FROM THERE!!!
**spoilers maybe*** I think Razor fills the gap.

I mean it all makes sense now that I seen it. The Cylons attacked to find the final five, this was pretty much their basis for everything thats happened. In a way it's their version of finding god. ( being they mention god alot throughout the series )And what Adama went through at the end of the war shows us their is more to the Cylons then we think. They aren't a Borg like collective. Who knows how many of these little operations they had like the Hybrid one. Also with the end of Season 3 this brings a new light on why we got new humanlike Cylons, but not only did they not know it, but neither did the other Cylons. For all we know since the end of the war till they attack the colonies there could have been a lot of civl unrest in the Cylon society. And what we're seeing now is the winning side trying to bring closure to it all. I still don't see how Starbuck fits in all of it. But I'm pretty sure the end of this series is gonna have a big payoff. Plus who else wants to see Caprica now that we've wittnessed old school Cylons? I do, I do!!!

The fact that the new cylons can't reproduce doesn't imply anything about an organic race created on earth thousands of years before the cylons ever existed. They were developed by different parties completely independent of each other. There's no reason that the same limitation would have to exist.

I see your point about no explanation for the farms and the whole human/hybrid baby thing. I think it would actually fit into this theory pretty well. They cylons have made multiple allusions about getting close to God and God's plan. In this theory, they would probably view either the Earth humans or the mechanical creators of the colonialists as God. If so, they may want to "get back to God" by merging their organic design with that originally done on earth, thus becoming a hybrid that would literally be a child of God.

I wanted to say that this was a fantastic episode that rocked but it wasn't. It quickly becomes apparent that we just don't need to know any more about Cain, and the new character of Kendra has zero importance to anything (if she had been alive at the end, with the information that Starbuck was leading them to the 'apocalypse', that would have been a different story. We would have been waiting for her to catch up with the fleet and warn them!). The mission that Starbuck, Kendra and the others were on was pretty lame, and YET AGAIN we get the same old 'should we launch and kill our own people?' debate and the same old Adama/Lee father son struggle. Lee is the most boring character, way too much focus on him here. Roslin, Baltar, Tigh, Boomer, Helo, Tyrol, Gaeta, Callie, Dee don't appear, neither do any Cylon models other than PegaSix (aka Gina, the lover of Cain...). Yes, there were some good effects shots, but we needed a lot more than that for Razor to merit being a standalone special. It's not a TV movie. It should have been a 2-parter in the second half of season 2. Maybe the best part was the Adama flashback. All the 'Razorette' flashbacks should have been included here. Stuff like Cain shooting her XO in the head can't make up for that.
But Where's Dr. Zee?? For those that have seen it

I am jazzed for this!!! But for those that have seen it, are all the Pegasus flashbacks as heavy handed as the original episode was. I recently watched the dvd again on my nifty new 65" DLP and was struck by how everyone on the Pegasus was portrayed as these evil, raping, sneering jackboot types. Although I loved the episode it kind of seemd anti- military to me. Hopefully for Razor there is a more evn handed portrail of her crew.
And Does anyone know if another Battlestar shows up this season?
by picardsucks

I have heard rumors about Valkyre or another Battlestar showing up. I always liked the two Battlestar motif. It's not like they are really any less underdogs anyway with another ship of the line. I know things are ending and we'll never see it but how cool would it have been to see Galactica get to a shipyard and get refit like the original Enterprise.

To Picardsucks...if you are wondering if there is a more even handed portrayal of the crew, let me say that Razor shows you WHY they are all evil jackboot types. I really enjoyed seeing Razor when I did, that is, where it is placed in the timeline after season 3 so the "present" really wasn't the present. I thought that added to it alot. I enjoyed learning more about Cain now, but I could see how I might feel like it was a waste of time during a regular season. Also, the old school cylons were so, so fucking sweet. I loved Razor...give it a 8 out of 10. Sci-Fi can fuck off.

I didn't think that the Pegasus had it nearly as hard as the Galactica did. Look at the first few episodes of the series and what Galactica endures versus what Pegasus endures in Razor. The difference is what we already knew Cain vs. Adama. That being said, I found it much less interesting whenever Cain wasn't on screen. I really wish it would have been about her rather than the Brunette Starbuck.

seems we've all seen it...

I also thought it was pointless - although I must admit I was already of this opinion before watching it. It's just a story I don't think really needed to be told. And yeah, like the monkey said, the Kendra character was ultimately far less interesting by being killed off at the end (OOPS! IS THAT A SPOILER?).

I feel I *MUST* however point out one majorly redeeming feature - OLD SCHOOL CYLONS AND OLD SCHOOL RAIDERS!!!!

More so the Raiders - damn they were cool! The Cylons kinda moved wrong, but still looked awesome!!

Was it just me or were those "homages" to Hudson in Aliens just distracting and unnecessary? It was supposed to be a tense run on a Cylon Basestar but they completely took me out of the scene with all the Hudson gags. Don't get me wrong, Paxton created a masterpiece with Hudson, but I thought it was totally inappropriate for Razor.
