Especially the Gondor theme. In fact the music was probably the best thing about the films, on reflection.

Great review of this tremendous achievement from Shore. You can hear my interview with Howard SHore, as he discusses his working relationship with David Cronenberg and his epic 'Lord of the Rings' scores by visiting: http://blogtalkradio.com/hostp age.aspx?show_id=50081

Not a good one, mind you. Nor an accurate one.

But considering the site it's on, I find it appropriate.

Want this.

CASH COW

Well I wondered when the ole cash cow would start mooing again. Although I will have to admit I enjoy my Minas Tirith scale model. Only 30 years from now when I'm really senile I'll have to ask myself: "Why do you have a miniture bust of Cate Blanchet on your book shelf?"

I still have to get The Two Towers: The Complete Recordings

It was never released in shops over her (that would be the Netherlands) as far as I know. At least, not where I live. The only option was to buy it online, which I kept delaying. Mainly because of the price. But now that The Return of the King: The Complete Recordings is around the corner, I will get them both at the same time.
This release marks the best day of the year

Can't wait to get this precious in my hands. After this the Lotr movie journey realy ends. Perhaps someday Howard will come close to Holland again for a symphony concert but other then that it's realy over. To me the RotK score marks the best conclusion for a musical masterpiece imaginable. November 6 can't come soon enough!

Don't forget to add the name Elizabeth Fraser

to the list of contributors to the LOTR scores. Every time someone plays a Cocteau Twins album or watches the Lord of the Rings within a square mile of me and I hear her ethereal voice fluttering to my eardrums, I stop dead in my tracks and thank fuck she was born.
OK, my man inside informs me that she didn't sing on ROTK

When do we get the Star Wars prequel scores, not album edits, not concert arrangements, and not the literal "sound track" of the film as edited to fit un-scored visual changes?
Yes!

How can there be any MORE, you ask? Are these not the COMPLETE recordings? Well, yes and no. Scorekeeper mentioned Doug Adams' upcoming book "The Music of the Lord of the Rings Films", which will probably be released in time for the 2008 holiday season. What he DIDN'T mention is that special multimedia content is being produced for the book, including tons of previously unheard music. We're talking early drafts, alternate conceptions, compositions that only appeared in the theatrical-edits, and all sorts of nifty "rarities". This is all being discussed, with frequent updates from Doug, at the MovieMusic.com forums: http://www.moviemusic.com/mb/F orum1/HTML/015975.html In short, we have MUCH more to look forward to!

...and Two Towers as well. Gandalf in the Shire and Aragorn singing the Lay of Luthien are indeed on the FOTR Complete Recordings, along with other vocal performances. Same for TTT -- no Gollum singing at the Forbidden Pool, though. :-)

crack me up. Waaaah they changed too much from the books!!! Waaah I'm too cool for this series. Waaah star wars is better! Did i leave anything out? Bottom line, it's a good soundtrack, whether you saw the movies or not. Enjoy it or get the fudge out and lets those of us who are interested discuss it among ourselves in peace, you pathetic message board obsessed trolls. Peace.

Apparently the manufacturing plant in CA had to temporarily shut down. A shame, but understandable.
