has Tim Kring raped your childhood/second-childhood/etc eterahood? Yeah, Heroes was better last season. Possibly the best first season of any show ever. Last weeks episode was ok. Who knows where this show will end up.

But the hate people. C'mon. People saying Lost sucked and now it doesn't. People saying BSG sucked but are still going to watch Razor & Season 4. Heck I think Bionic Woman isn't so great, but I still tune in. Most cool TV is average. You get the occasional extraordinary show like Arrested Development, but even a great show like Babylon 5 was a bit slow to start with and mucked up its final season.

Take it easy. Be entertained, or not. And understand that Heroes being boring is the norm. Hope it picks up the pace but until then I'll keep looking for shiny things.

At least it's nowhere near as bad as Smallville.

Heroes first season established its universe, its characters, and kept to the genre in which it was based. It had a definite beginning, middle and end while leaving the door open for another season. It was the most consistent first season I've ever seen, and it was interesting and entertaining to boot. There's my reasons, so what's yours? Name some other shows that had a better first season. I actually would really like to see what I've missed.

And Arrested Development kept its level of story, characters, comedy and style consistent for three seasons. I haven't seen any other show maintain such a high level of quality in each episode for that long. Usually there are ups and downs. IMHO Arrested Development didn't have any, but then it didn't have alot of special effects and stuff. It had to rely on its writing and production. Might be a bit boring for some. But again I'd love to hear to any other show that can match 3+ years of consistency.

the first season was very entertaining in spots, but it, too, started off slowly, had lots of mediocre filler, and ended disappointingly. Go back and read some of the complaints, especially about Niki and Mohinder, or watch them again.

The highlights have lead to inflated expectations for this season, which haven't been met so far. Calling it the "best" of anything is laughable.
I watch Heroes because leads into Journeyman
by GreatCzarsGhost
Oct 29th, 2007
03:49:50 AM
I'll watch the whole season of Heroes in hopes of it returning to it's wonderfulness of last season, but my favorite show this year is Journeyman with NBC's Life a close second. Journeyman has the feel of last seasons Heroes with the quick reveal of surprises with almost every episode.

As for some of the other new shows Chuck is cute but very predictable, Bionic Woman just feels uncomfortably jagged the people who make it don't really know what they want to do with the show. Reaper is simple fun (and yes I wish they would tone down his fat friend to) which is better than simple not fun. Pushing Daises with it's Tim Burton/Cat In The Hat feel is getting on my nerves. I'm starting to hate the dead pan narration which is not needed if you just write a good show and let the story tell itself. Rent the movie Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events to get a feel of how to so this "feel" correctly. Question since no one ever comes into the pie mans store, what does he do with all those pies??

Bet it's Claud. We never found out who he was protecting when Noah tried to kill him, plus he would probably like to track Peter down as well. He was also pissed off when she killed someone. In terms of resources for tracking Peter, who knows?

They really have reset the entire show this season, what with Peter and others having to rediscover their powers, every single person completely restricted in so many ways, and even Claire about to become a cheerleader again.

not Odessa, Texas, not Moscow, but Odessa, the port city in the Ukraine. That was made clear by the dialog toward the end of the previous episode, fake looking Red Square backdrop notwithstanding. Almost as bad as Hiro's "Kyoto."

BTW, for Veronica Mars' fans, the FBI reboot teaser has hit YouTube. Her freakin' gun is bigger than she is.

Twin Peaks, Hill Street Blues and The Sopranos. I never would have thought of those, so looks like I got a bit of catch-up watching to do. :)

So, to clarify, of shows _I've seen_ Heroes had possibly (note I say "possibly") the best first season. And it was in a genre I love, so I'm biased.

And yeah, I guess I do have low expectations. We're dealing with a story-telling medium that takes place sometimes over many years, with different writers, characters, even styles and genres. And that's in a single series. Gotta give it a bit of leeway. It's magic when they get the blend right, but it's the exception - not the rule.

you watch HEROES as a lead-in to JOURNEYMAN?
by rightarm4Rosario
Oct 29th, 2007
06:21:25 AM
Wait - did he say what I think he said? He watches HEROES because it leads into JOURNEYMAN? Dude, JOURNEYMAN is possibly the worst sci-fi-ish, steaming pile of Quantum Leap wannabe crap that has ever seen the light of day. I had a very mild interest in "STUDIO 60," and the mediocre jizzfest that was "STUDIO 60" is leaps and bounds ahead of JOURNEYMAN. I have tried, tried, tried to like JOURNEYMAN, and every episode is more mind-numbing than the last. The pilot? Horrible. What's with all the family/fertility/home problems? Why do we care that his Brother used to be shtupping his wife, or that he used to be shtupping the character portrayed by Moon Bloodgood, heretofore known primarily for her sublime performance as Paul Walker's love interest in the Dog POW film, "Eight Below" or for various Maxim layouts. Why is there no humor? Why is the guy who plays Journeyman, though likeable enough, portraying him? To me, the lead actor on LIFE would have been great on Journeyman. Then again, scrapping the entire cast and crew of JOURNEYMAN, and replacing it with the writers of LIFE would be great. LIFE is the best new show this year, by far. LIFE needs a talkback or three, fast. Moriarty, Merrick, Harry! Get on this! Someone needs to burn off of their DVR (or do whatever needs to be done) and get the first five episodes of LIFE to Harry - stat! HEROES AND FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS were the best new shows last year, with UGLY BETTY running a distant third. HEROES still has hope, but the new characters blow thus far. FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS, despite the murdered-rapist-subplot is currently the gold standard. It hurts me to say that, because I wish it was HEROES, but HEROES has taken a real step back, regardless of my fondness for it. Hopefully, if FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS is canceled, the bulk of the writers (and some of the actors) will get new gigs at HEROES. WHEN JOURNEYMAN is canceled, LIFE should be put in the time slot after HEROES. Sure, its not Sci-Fi, but its just better than JOURNEYMAN. If Journeyman had 10% of the quality that goes into each episode of life, it would be a great show. As it is, its a mess. In closing, JOURNEYMAN BLOWS!
NBC, Hire Me
by hechtal
Oct 29th, 2007
06:37:58 AM
In the rare event that an NBC person would even dare glance over an AICN talkback, I say this: Hire me! Fire the horrible writers and get some people who have read at least three comics in their entire life, though you should really be aiming for PRO COMIC WRITERS. NBC's rip-offedness of the Watchmen has somehow even gotten screwed up, and the "plot" this season has totally gone off track. At first we had the virus, which apparantly is cureable, but everyone is still whining about it. Then we have the murder mystery, where, like a Star Wars Prequel, every goddamn person is related somehow. That is cliched, and silly, because the chances of meeting not only a relative but a superpowered relative are astronomical. Here's a thought; Heroes could have more non-superpowered characters! Ando was one of my favorites from last season, maybe because he was at the most risk. Ironically, Ando tried to do more heroic stuff than the actual super-powered characters. Back to the murder mystery - Matt, who we're supposed to believe was shot 5 times in the chest in L.A. and now 4 months later is a N.Y.C. Detective, who can read minds, can't figure out shit. This whole process of "disarming" the Heroes as a plot device is redonkulus. Peter with amnesia I could live with, but then Sylar losing his powers because of a sucking chest wound, Hiro stuck on the past because if his powers worked the story could actually move, Matt just being dumb, Micah getting pay-per-view, Nathan being emo this season instead of Peter, Nightmare Man being pretty much the lamest build-up ever (he's worse than the boogey-man!), Claire back to square one agonizing over "not being normal" when last season she used her powers for good and even talked about helping people. She could have met a normal guy this season, but nope, she somehow meets a flier, who A. Has a retarded name and 2. Is about the dumbest Hero ever. I mean seriously, people would notice a flying dude, especially in high school, and this whole "noone sees him because they don't look up robots and aliens" thing is more fucking retarded dribble from these so called writers aka hacks. Are the episodes this season entertaining? I would say yes, in the sense that opposite of Heroes is Two and a Half Men and Dancing With the Stars, so you get your choice of regular shit or dorky shit, and I'll usually go with dorky shit. Back to the murder mystery again - how about some actual story stuff gets revealed, and the season starts moving forward NBC? Nakamura is dead, we need to get the ball rolling here. If I see comatose Molly crying, Matt and Mohinder argue as a couple, Nathan's reflection being scarred, horrible Irish accents, Sylar whine about being powerless, or the Mexican wonder fucks who are the lamest characters ever then...that'll be on par for Season 2.

I enjoy Journeyman, and yes it deals with time travel, but it ain't the same as Quantum Leap. Sam actually jumped into people's bodies/lives. And he was not limited geographically as to where he jumped. You should be more worried about where Heroes is heading (if anywhere).

What sent you over the edge? I thought we would have another debate this week. I watched the Heroes marathon on G4, well, some of it. Damn, it was 1000% better than this shit this season. The characters all had a prupose, a need, a drive. This season, even when they do, like the Wonder Twins getting to America, it still feels forced and contrived. I just dont buy it. Hiro, needs to work on being a Hiro and get the hell out of Japan. Peter needs to be the emotional, optomistic center again for everyone. He just seems cliched and drawn out now. Ofcourse his girl is gonna die or some shit. Watch. Ugh. Yet, tonight, I will be watching. Or going to see the decemberists. Gee, decisions, decisions.

As I normally have little patience myself for people who post in TalkBacks for shows they're no longer watching (I bailed in the middle of the episode two weeks ago finally), but reading NBC's BOLDED tagline synopsis for next week's episode "AT SCHOOL, WEST CONVINCES CLAIRE TO TEACH A BULLYING CHEERLEADER A LESSON" just made me laugh and laugh at how off-the-rails this show has gone. I mean, I couldn't even get motivated to watch last week for my favorite Tiny Blonde One. Anyway, again, my apologies, and for those who are sticking around, I do hope it gets better for your sakes, but it's really too tedious for me to enjoy right now.

I really wish Ali would have shouted that last week. It would have gone a long way to making me love this show again. As it is, I still like the show. Still better than much of what's on TV. Listen up writers; you better have a moment where Hiro realizes he's about to get-it-on with his great-great-great grandma or I'll be pissed in the worst way. Also, if you can slip a "Can you read my mind?" line into one of Claire & boyfriends flights, it'd be nice. Journeyman? Tried it the first two weeks and realized I'd have to kick my own ass if I watched that depressing crap again. C'mon, your husband disappears off of a commercial flight and all you can do is roll your eyes?! Please. Journeyman sucks and that's the fact, Jack.

It seems as if NBC has been working hard to save "Bionica Lewinsky"(coined by someone else in the "Moronic Woman" talkback)they are neglecting the fact that "Heroes" is suffering. They should spring for some real comic book writers who can really let loose with the storylines and give us something worth talking about Tuesday morning.

We are all well aware of the fact that this show has the potential to be great, yet it just doesn't deliver. It only delivered on it's promise for a handful of episodes last year, and clearly it was all under Fuller's influence. The decline in quality since Fuller should tell NBC that Kring is a hack. I would have also fired him for that underwhelming season finale.

So many other (older) shows have managed to deliver the quality (and action) that "Heroes" can't, with lower ratings and on lesser watched networks. So what the fuck is the problem here? Why is it so hard to make this show exciting? NBC fire Kring.

I still watch, hoping it will get better because I like the concept since day one. But the writing has taken a turn for the worst. The attempts to make the show socially relevant are just stupid. The Katrina and Immigration storylines shouldn't be on the show. Maya and Alejandro (2 actors who speak perfect English) could have easily been Latino twins already living in America. And while the girl who plays Monica is cute, you mean to tell me there isn't an African American actress out there who is athletic and can do her a good chunk of her own stunts? When Monica's stunt double appears, it is as obvious as when someone was thrown across a room on "Martin" you can clearly see it was a dummy. You know the physical plans for the role will just expand. So why not plan ahead and get someone who can handle it? It seems the only stunt she did on her own was the double dutch sequence.

The "it's better than most crap on TV" argument...

Just isn't good for me. Either a show can make me turn on the TV, or it can't, it can hold my interest or it can't, and for me right now, Heroes can't. And frankly, there's nothing on any of the networks now in that timeslot that can. I know many people do this, but I generally don't watch shows by default. I honestly believe that's how 14 different versions of CSI and Law and Order got on the air to begin with.

Um, no.... Even "Alias" has a better 1st season than "Heroes" and Alias didn't really get awesome until season 2. "Heroes" was a show that always had a lot of promise, but in my opiniong it was never great. Only "Company Man", "Six Months Ago" and "5 Years Gone" were really good. The rest of the time the show was coasting on it's premise.

I pray to white Jesus every Sunday night to make Heroes better the next day. The show feels so sluggish right now. I guess the end of season 1 was an indicator of things to come. The last few episodes of Season 1 were craptastic as well. Here is an idea for Kring and the boys. Have a long weekend retreat up in the mountains and read comics until your eyes bleed. Or instead of having guest stars like chris claremont. Have him as a writer!

Haven't you people ever heard of a SLOW BURN? This will never be the powers-fest we all hope because NBC just doesn't have the budget. But when you look at "Bionic Woman" you can see how bad a comic book type show can be. "Heroes" gives comics a good name and its continued success does the industry some much needed credibility. (Sorry, but most peeps think comics are still for kids with "Pow!" and "Bam!" written all over 'em.)

WTF are you talking? Wasn't the bomb a reference to 911? The show went down because the writers began sucking big time! Yes, one could notice it at the end of the season 1, and it has gone sluggish with every new episode. The writing is bad, the story is awful, even killing Hiro's dad was boring for me (and I loved the character). I think Fuller was the responsible for making Heroes a great TV show; now he is producing this mild, half laugh, girly TV show called Pushing Daysies... ugh And BTW, Smallville sucks most of the time, but overall compared to Heroes, this season in Smallville has been far more interesting than the campy storyline in H.

I took Heros out of my DVR's list last week. No use recording crap I'm not gonna watch. It goes from high school drama, to bad amnesia cliche to Hiro living vicariously through Kensi and Ando living vicariously through Hiro. I usually watch Chuck, skip Heroes and then watch CSI Miami.

Hijack in progress.

Ok, I think the father is ripping out loopholes, but I think he's doing it to protect Sammy. The Devil (if it is him, see below) told Sammy that his secret dies with them (meaning Sam, his parents, Ben and Sock). So if Sammy finds an out clause, what if that means death for all five?

I'm also curious about why the Devil is so vehement against talking to Sammy's dead. I wonder if it's because *he's not the devil!* I'm not saying he's God, but what if the 'Devil' is one who took over after the previous deal with Sammy's dad (I'm thinking Piers Anthony's For Love of Evil crossed with Sandman), and the escaped souls are the result of the administrative overthrow, and the 'Devil' needs Sammy's help in order to shore up his own power.

Longshot, granted, but it'd be an interesting twist.

That should be "talking to Sammy's dad"

brought up some points in his post last week that we're not spending enough time with the baddies each week (I contradicted because of the Bug Lady -- although I was envisioning more off-screen stuff -- but I think his point is valid). I think we'd both like to see an arc, maybe a 'big bad' who escaped with several minions, and Sammy has to work his way up to the big bad over several eps.

The issue is that they spend too much time with Ted and Candice, oops, Andi. Yeah, the relationship is cute, but they need to do less work and love related things (or at least do them less frequently) and spend more time on the baddies.

Anyways, I think that the dad is an escaped soul himself but he sold his son into slavery to the devil so he won't have to return to hell. Remember he didnt say what he was afflicted with when he made the deal with the devil. I just think the dad escaped to earth, fell in love and to keep his wife he had to give up his first born.

It's still entertaining, but the line to this talkback says it all, "Another Monday, Another HEROES" The excitement isn't there this year. I will continue watching HEROES, Journeyman, and Bionic. But what really concerns me is the fact that none of these shows are generating ratings. I'm afraid we may be seeing more reality TV and game shows next year if things don't change. I have no facts to back this up, but i think it may help to log into the websites of these shows when they air and tab up some numbers for them there. That's data the networks hopefully also factor in when deciding a shows fate. Point of it all, even though writing is off on these shows, I would hate to lose any of these, and prevent other new shows from being developed. HEY, NBC, I'm watching dammit!! And thanks for going out on a limb for us geeks.

and while it's not a perfect season, in fact it's got inconsities too, I'm on chapter 12 I belive and noticed that the Hatian's power changed from someone who could mute Parkman's mind reading power to being one who could take memories. And while I don't have a problem with that, HRG says that they've never met anyone with more then one power to Sylar.

Season 2 has had it's problems, ratings are hurting, it's obvious to I think everyone but Kring, maybe he has noticed and it's too late to change some of these episodes, but I don't know. Things that I belive people want to see if a team-up on a regular basis, not just a season or mid season finale teamup where all of a sudden everyone gets togather and teams up but a total teamup, if they know Peter is missing why aren't they out looking for him, why isn't Ando seving as more of an "Alfred" figure, why are you only hinting at HRG basassness, why can't Hiro be fliting back and forth through time, I would be, not staying one place trying to fix things. Unlike some of you I am enjoying Micah and Monica's storyline but they need to speed it up a little, what we see in 4-5 episodes (intorduction of them, Monica's powe, and learning more about her powers could have esily been done in one or 2 episodes

while Heros isn't my favorite tv show, that belongs to LOST, as you can tell from last weeks episodes, I do enjoy Heros, and while this may sound strange coming form a LOST fan, hero's needs to speed things up and start moving a faster clip, the slow burn works well for LOST as it is a mystery wrapped in an enigma, Heros is a superhero show about well Heros, but we're not seeing much heroicness.

RE: Heroes S2
by hechtal
Oct 29th, 2007
12:11:19 PM
A quick read through the TB's, and there are a few folks who've basically said "it's a slow season, S1 started out this way so be patient." Ahem. S1 did NOT start out this way. S1 started out with a prophesy of doom, an emo kid who thought he could fly, and the inklings of a serial killer on the loose targeting powered people. THAT is a way to hook people. Fast forward to S2. Looking back, S1 had a downer of an ending. Whether they meant to or not, they built things up and the "showdown" fizzled out. S2 has been just as fizzled, and then some. I try to imagine a group of writers in a room, and one of them says "well, Peter exploded but he survived, so now he has all these powers so he's too powerful, he's like Superman." Writer number two says, "We can give him amnesia, then he won't be all like Superman! Plus the fans are dumb and buy into comic book crap like Amnesia!" Writer number one then adds," And we'll make it so that's he's in Ireland with mobsters! Because that doesn't sound retarded at all!" Writers one and two then pat themselves on the back for a job well done. I WANT eroes to be awesome, and it has/had some great potential, but the writing and the story seem totally jeuvanile. Seriously. It reminds me of shit my friends and I came up with in high school. Here's how I would have ended S1: (to tie it into S2) First off, never reveal Sylar. The best bad guy is one that remains a hidden threat! Second, I would have made the bomb an actual nuclear bomb. Linderman could have had it brought into the city, with plans to detonate in a non-superpowered way, which makes more sense when you think about it. Hmmm, a billionare could either buy a nuke, or orchestrate a complex scheme to get a man to explode. Anyway, Peter could have been on the clock to find the nuke, finding it with virtually no time left, and he grabs it using super strength and flies up into the sky, exploding at sunset. Cue epic music and special effects, and it could have worked. S2 could have opened without revealing Peter was alive in the first episode. They could have had things riled up, like, Holy Shit a nuke went off over NYC! Nathan could have stayed a congressman to keep the Heroes in the loop, and if Isaac had stayed alive he could warn them of continous threats. This could have tied nicely into the Wathmen-esque murder mystery that unfolded with Kaito's death (notice both he and the Comedian were pushed to their deaths off of buildings), though they got the story backwards, as by Watchmenthology Linderman would have been behind his death. Anyway if they want to make this season more interesting they need to cut out the stupid shit, and focus on the mystery at hand, though with the exceptional writing I'm thinking they don't even have a solid story in place. Like I said I don't want Heroes to fail, I want it to be awesome, it just amazes me that people with sucj bad storytelling skills manage to get into the positions that they do, and that they work with people that don't say "dude, that idea kind of sucks." Like the whole mexican twins thing. Why couldn't someone with an ounce of common sense say "their powers are about the dumbest fucking thing I've ever seen?" Ah well, I'll still watch it with the hopes\ that things turn around, but it looks like this season will really drag - it's taken them what, 5 episodes to show a painting? Last season they set up foibles that were solved in one episode, now the shit is taking FOREVER. Arg.

i didnt read thru all of this string, so not sure if this has been brought up. My issue is this: There should be ABSOLUTELY no correlation between how long Hiro spends in fedual Japan and how long he is gone from the present-day. Am I wrong? If he can bend time or whatever, he can pick any point to return in, so theoretically, he could have gone back, stayed as long as he wanted, and returned 2 seconds after he left, no? If there's a reason this can't be ("Paradox!," to quote a not-so-great Dean Koontz book), they haven't explained it away in the show, and as such I'm having a really hard time getting past this...anyone agree?

Is probably one of my favorite shows right now.

It is a more comedic, male version of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" that isn't fruity like "Supernatural" (Which to me is a show more targeted to women). I am liking how the first season of "Reaper" is shaping up. The writing is good, and sure some of the effects can look hokey, but at least they fucking TRY to do stuff with their budget.

All of the actors are good and have good chemistry with each other. It's cool how "Spanish" from "Old School" finally got a steady gig.

And Ray Wise owns as Satan. His "Most Wonderful Time" Halloween commercial for the CW is fucking hilarious.

I'm surprised that "Reaper" is made by ABC's TV Studios but it's not on their network. It's definitely good enough to be on the Big 4 instead of wasting away at The CW.

The CW can't fucking promote their shows for shit. I always remember The WB always having decent ad campaigns with their stars. Now it's that shitty green backdrop with montages set to that escaped Pussycat Slore's music. Fucking awful.

I know that the 6 months ago ep from S1 was an extremly well written episode (along with Company Man and 5 Years Gone), but I think it's crap to pull the same type of episode in the second season, if they really wanted to move that far ahead in the future and give us clues to what happened, try doing it LOST flashback style, or why even attempt that in the first place, in S1 it made since as Hiro transported back the 6 months, but why not just start it off from where Peter blew up in the sky? and continue it from that point

sorry if I'm coming across grumpy, I was sick yesterday and am still not feeling great today, i spent about 8 hours yesterday watching s1 episodes and I think it's just made me cranky, at least I wasn't watching Newsradio S2, or Lost S1, in which I'd be comparing quality of those shows to the lack of quality in this season.

At least in my opinion what's missing is the fact that it's basically IMPOSSIBLE to give a rat's ass about any of the characters, period. Really, who's there to like right now? If it wasn't for Sylar's head smashy with blunt objects trick no one is really identifiable with the characters they were last season, at least the main characters that is. Ando is practically the second best reason to tune in, now that's hurting... How about Kring and co make this so called "character driven" show have some characters the audience cares about so we can get back to the point of wanting to know what's going to happen to them and where their stories will lead week to week.

Just a regular dude who gets pulled in and has to stand with them (like a Punisher, Batman, Karate Kid type).

of course not, but it is still a great album. Heroes completely blew everyone out of the water last season. I'm miffed that Fuller is gone, since I think he was responsible for keeping it non-cheesy, but it's still a good show. and it always has potential for getting back to it's previous glory. personally, I'm not as upset about the plotting/pacing as everyone else, although I agree it's weaker. I think people are forgetting that in terms of balls out action and surprises, the last season started off fairly slow. I think in the next few episodes we're going to get back to the Heroes we got off on so hard towards the end of last season.

but what is truly bothering me, is the DIALOGUE this season. "the flood didn't just take my house, it took my DREAMS!" bllleeeecccchhhhh...shite like that just burns my ears every time I hear it. how does Kring let this shit come out of the writing room and end up on screen? so bad. gone are the days of, "didn't I throw you out a window?", I hope they come back sooner rather than later.

oh, and buy some TSM stock. trust Wonka. you're gonna keep it for about a week and double your money.

Definitely an excellent show. Really never misses (though the horseshit with Satan's insistence that he not tell Andy is a bit of a stretch).

Much love for Journeyman and Life, too.

Chuck had an opportunity. In fact, it had plenty of opportunities and it's squandered them all. If I see it, I see it. If not, oh, well. It's like a shitty version of Melrose Place, but BILLY'S A SUPER-SPY!!! Nice idea with superpowered slacker teaming up with spies to save the world, but they blow it EVERY episode.

Bionic Woman blows. And, if Heroes doesn't blow yet, it's certainly stretching its jaws wide to start taking in the giant donkey cock. Yet another show that's squandered its goodwill and its promise.

What i'm getting at is that 4 months in japan doesn't have ot mean 4 months in current time. Hiro could spend 40 years in feudal japan, and then choose his return time as 2 seconds after he originally left for Japan. Him putting notes in the base of the sword to tell ando he was about to return but he can't yet is kinda dopey, and only serves to point out the fact that he could have done everything he did in japan and not made everyone wait for his return. Now, maybe there will be a reason, as crth says, that his return point is sometime later, but they better give a good reason for it, because had he returned sooner in the present time, he might have, for example, saved his father's life, no? All of that said, there seems to be a history of shows being bashed on TB and then turning in a really excellent episode. I'm hoping that ends up being the case here. I'm onboard for the season on Heroes, but they're quickly eroding any goodwill I had after their kickass first season...

Therefore forever bonding him and Maya. It would be so fucked up the show would be interesting again. Same act, "I'm super-powerful so I'll be super-smarmy." I've seen many a Buffy villain do the same thing but far better.

Ok, this is dumb but maybe Kensi's been teaching Hiro Kendo so by the time he shows up at the end of the season he'll be totally battle ready, like the serious Hiro from the future. First of all, Supernatural is in no way 'fruity'. Give me a break. The two leads are pretty damn good actors, especially for a CW show. As for Reaper, there's no way it even compares to Buffy, but it is a pretty good show. The twist at the end of last week's episode should make things a little more interesting.
Hiro's time travel
by Toonol
Oct 29th, 2007
05:04:17 PM
Keep in mind, Hiro's been in the past for, what... a couple weeks? For everybody else, four months have elapsed! So he's not traveling in real time; he's just not that accurate, and is going to overshoot his return home by months.

I think it would be cool if he showed up back in the present at the beginning of an episode, but still was in Japan until the end of the episode... but that might make for a confusing narrative.

BTW, I though last week's episode was fine. Slow going before that, though.

I get it that some call it 'K-ville', but in a more pavlovian way, in the lust for ratings and to show tragedy, the entire identity of a city has been poisoned by the media 's rediculous insistance on not letting us 'get over' the tragedies of hurricane Katrina. UGH! You suck mass majority of the media!

I'm kinda 'ok' with the way Hiro's being treated plot-wise because he and Peter both have the ability to just take over and wipe everything clean with their powers. Its kinda like how Superman's nemesis is Lex Luthor, who doesn't fight Supes's strength but with his mind. The writers have to put Pete and Hiro in situations where they can't just freeze time and go back and fix things or just use all the powers seen so far to dominate all. That's why Hiro's kinda always at the 'mercy' of his power, so he can't just wipe the board clean. And that's why Pete is written to be so insecure and given crutches like amnesia. Bc you know if he was ok and gained some confidence about power control, he'd just go find claire, get nathan, hiro and all the rest together and figure out who the boogey man is, then go after the company. Do y'all see my point?

wtih the whole 'slow' storylines thing... the first few eps last year were HUGE 'buildup' eps. They were a lil more tolerable bc we were learning who all these characters were for the first time and we didn't notice that it took so long to get things going, bc we were willing to give it a chance. Now it feels like we should be 'hitting the ground running' bc we're already somewhat familiar with the characters. Wasn't it the 5th ep last year that set up the whole 'save the cheerleader' thing, with future hiro showing up then? That's when I was hooked, i remember jumping out of my seat! So the revelations coming in the next ep or so I bet are going to be the start of the 'hooks' this year... i'm sure a lot disagree with that, but we'll see soon enough i'm sure. Can't wait for the Return of Petrelli!!!
