Until they can figure out what they want this show to be, they need to take it off the air. There's an air of desperation hanging over it it seems.I think they got this one tonally wrong for what people were expecting and I don't think bringing in somebody from the Sopranos and Cane(?!) is going to help.That's just a guy who needs a job. In regards to the back to school episode though, was that a mean joke when Wyndham Earle told her to speak with conviction or whatever the line was? And calling attention to the fact that she's still using the British accent even when no one's around? As has been said elsehere this show is a trainwreck and I can't look away.

Really, in this day and age of shows getting kicked to the curb after just a few episodes, why is so much effort being made to keep this show alive? I give the people behind the Bionic Woman credit, they seem to know that they have a train wreck for a show and are trying to do something about it. However, I think they are overdoing the changes in the show from week to week. I have watch every episode and it feels like a different show each week. Michelle Ryan's personality seems to change each week and she bionic powers seem to fluctuate from scene to scene. I will keep watching as a fan of the old Bionic series, I really want this show to work. But if this show gets canceled I would have to agree with decision at this point.

This show is done! After 30 years of goodwill provided by the Six Million Dollar Man and the Bionic Woman; this is the best they could do.A ready made hit and they botched it! A quick word to the producers of life,however. You guys need to be careful that you dont mess up a good thing. So the lawyer is being written out as there is too much going on and you dont trust the audience to be able to manage so many stories all at once. I dont agree with you but its your show.Who am I to suggest that your detective show mimic life in any way?Another thing I noticed is that the last two episodes didnt include Crew's trademark elightened moments. In may have started off with a neat concept, but it's been dumbed way, way down in their attempts to appeal to specific demographics. They unexplainably lose the long term boyfriend so Jaime can be sexually available. They re-cast the sister as bulemic/hot/edgy teen Abercrombie model. Idiot suits better quit meddling because the goodwill and good name the show began with is now completely squandered. Here's an idea. HIRE CREATIVE PEOPLE AND LET THEM TELL A STORY!!!! Sheesh.

Firstly they need to stop the influence of Jason Katims hairstyle fixations he developed in the shampoo advert Roswell. Get rid of Katims. Secondly the fight scenes are crap. I want to see Sommers character take a good punch and then punch the life out of the villains. Whoever is the fight cheographer needs to be sacked and replaced. For it to work she needs a fighting style similar to Jason Bourne. Vicious, quick and brutal. None of this girlie swinging rubbish. (When she on field ops she needs to tie her hair back.) Thirdly why did episode 5 have Sommers say that she didnt need a guy then fall into the arms of a shampoo advert freak? That guy should have died to show her that her life will never have stability. Loved her natural accent though!!

some marginal improvement. Though all things being relative, by "improvement" I'm saying it went from being a big '0' out of 10 to a '2' or so. That's the good news. The bad news is that it's still not an interesting show. At best it's a bland, run of the mill, "seen it before", "catch the bad guy of the week" cop show. I wouldn't even categorize it as a spy, super hero or action-drama. If it were even 'Alias-lite' in scale I might've pushed up the rating to a 3 or 4. But the situations this super secret organization is putting their $50M bionic wonder into are very ordinary. Unworthy. They missed an opportunity to turn the series into something big when they made the "bad guy of the week that gets caught in the end" just a generic punk. If they instead linked him with a Specter-ish criminal organization that was amassing it's own secret, super strong arsenal, that might've been something to get excited about. Or even have the secret chip successfully stolen which the evil organization would then use to make their army of super soldiers. Or whatever, just not something we've seen before. So far just lots of blown opportunities to make this series something worthy. Believe it or not, it's OK to let the bad guys win at times and give them the upper hand because that would put the good guys in a position to have to play 'catch up', which in turn builds tension and creates good drama. One of the good things about 24 is that CTU and Bauer were always a step behind and they were desperate to catch up (though 24 has it's own pile of problems). They basically need to give Jamie and OSI (or whatever that dumb name of the organization she works for is) an equal, or better yet, a stronger, more powerful, better financed/equipped adversary that has a grand plan that's already in motion. Strong(er) enemies make for interesting action. The Hero needs to overcome great odds in order to prevail not have a bunch of goons who you know are going to get their butts handed to them. And a team of bionic women/men (ie Starbuck) would mean they could fight even greater/stronger enemies. And while I'm on the topic, you can't have a person who can rip steel pipes and jump 10 stories ordinary human adversaries. With the power she's supposed to have, she should be cracking ribs and punching through torsos with a single blow. As a matter of fact, if they did that, ie showed that she can and will kick all sorts of ass it would be a great improvement. Something we've never seen before, and something which would hint at bigger and better things to come down the line. I really believe there's a lot of potential here. More so then most shows that ever make it to air. But so far, it's been a whole lot of nothing. I hope The New Guy has the right vision and can turn this mess around.

It's so bad - ok yes, it is - seriously reminds me of something that was created in the late '60s or early '70s to sell Tide. But there is something warm, comfortable, and accepting about that type of programming. It's undeliberate lack of calculation and sophistication makes it unique on the airwaves today. And that is why I love you Bionic Woman, and I will watch till they cancel this thing.

We'll put the talkback here. Just don't stand too close, Nudedude. 'Kay? Life was excellent and I certainly hope that they're not writing out Constance Griffith. She's the hottest thing on this show and one of the main reasons I watch. I definitely noticed the lack of Crews moments in this one, but was more than pleased by the Russian's telephoned hint regarding the Bank of L.A. heist. A nice new twist. Does anybody know if Life's producers have filmed an "ending" to the show (in the form of that documentary) that will explain the frame if the show is canceled. Just wondering. Finally, back to the Russian, I was a little disappointed in one aspect of the show last night. The Homeland Security "satanus" ex machina. I find it poor writing and more than a little hard to believe that the Russian can kidnap and murder, but HS will run to the rescue because he's "giving them info on drugs from China through Mexico?" Gimme a fuckin' break! What the fuck is this -- Law & Order? Homeland Security is now the cause celebre for every lazy writer in Hollywood. It's the fictional little bugaboo to use when you're too lazy to come up with something original. I could have come up with three easy ways to achieve the same ending without pulling Homeland Security outta my ass. HS added nothing to the plot or theme of the show. My mouth dropped open with that shit 'cause up till now Life was tied with Journeyman as my two favorite new shows. Now, I guess it's Journeyman with Life a second.

Over at IMDB they list Griffith's character and Arkin's as appearing in only a few episodes that means two storylines are doomed. I guess the writers have been told to lighten the load.

There were some potential 2nd season spoilers blabbed by Katee Sackhoff during an interview a few weeks back that suggested she would be a full-time star (AWESOME) and that her and Jaime's relationship would be somewhat comparable to the Buffy-Faith relationship (also cool, but would be better if they mirrored the Willow-Tara relationship). I really hope that NBC can keep this show propped up enough so that it comes back next season revamped with full time ass-kicking Katee.

kill her off. make an event of it. it's not the actress' fault, but the poor backstory and writing for her character handcuffs her. yes, she's beautiful, but as-written the character has no charisma and zero interest. katee sackhoff's character is darker, hates the agency that made her, and far, far more interesting. plus it'd be a first (as far as I know) to kill off the lead character so early in the show's run. the show feels predictable and underdeveloped ... why not just make the on-screen product chaotic to echo the off-screen problems? kill characters. blow stuff up. kill half the agency. burn everything down and keep only the elements that don't feel like a sitcom. which is about 10%. the show is already on a death watch. if it continues as now, it's going to be off the air in 5-10 episodes. i say blow EVERYTHING up in 2-3 episodes and see if the audience comes back. maybe then the kernels of what remains will have a better future.

See, the thing to me is, that it's a matter of audiences. I'm no Mr. Nielsen and I'm sure that plenty of you will correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't Aaron Sorkin's shows almost ALWAYS low-rated, West Wing excluded. Critically acclaimed, yes, but low-rated. The original Bionic Woman, on the other hand, was a top-ten show in its first season, a top-twenty show in its second. The concept is simple and easily accessible and decidedly low-brow (chick with superpowers kicks ass - see also Wonder Woman, The Bionic Woman, Dark Angel, Buffy, and Alias in a way). The West Wing did well in the ratings, but Studio 60, on the other hand, STARTED at #22 and plummeted from there. The political machinations and wonkish drama of West Wing (or Reinventing Bill, as I like to think of it) were pretty easy to understand and interesting. Being preached to and railed against by some hepster backstage comedians is neither understandable nor interesting. While fairly well-written (never achieving the heights of West Wing), Studio 60 tended to be argumentative, one-sided and antagonistic toward MUCH of the mainstream audience. I mean, almost 77% of America identifies itself as Christian in surveys, yet Sorkin spends inordinate amounts of time knocking 77% of the audience?!?!?!? There was NO saving that show, as far as I can tell. BW, too, seems screwed beyond belief, but at least it doesn't spend its time telling 77% of its audience what backwards, close-minded fucks they are. But, shit, they can't even make a hot chick with superpowers interesting so I hold little hope...

I tried to stick with the show in hopes it would get better, but last night's episode was like they were deliberately trying to get people to change the channel, daring us all with "how much sheer boredom can you take? Huh? How much, ya entertainment-deprived bastards?" Pickardsucks hits it exactly: the show has no conception of what people want to see. Her bionic powers are wasted on bending maybe a pole to prop open a window (or, last week, bending back part fo a fan)--and that's if we're lucky. Whooppeee! That's some excitement you've got goin' on there, David Eick. And last night's episode was like some awful one-shot you'd see on one of the lamest Sci-Fi channel original productions, or some cheap-o procedural on some Z-grade cable channel. There was virtually no continuity whatsoever (uh, isn't she dying in five years? Where's Sarah Corvus? Where's that lawyer dude from Galactica who seemed like he was going to be something important but just suddenly stopped having scenes? Why is Isaiah Washington on this show? etc.) There wasn't even major continuity WITHIN the episode (uh, what was the deal with the dude who had a gun and attacked her with amazing fighting skills, but then cried and said "I'm sorry, help me" and disappeared after the commercial break? Was he just the disappearing rapist ninja or something?) And, hey-- in two weeks, she goes to Paris for what looks like another one-shot with shampoo boy where she'll probably use her bionic powers to fix the t.v. antenna on top of the Moulin Rouge. Everybody set your Tivo!

I read that in another TB and nearly fell apart. Wish I'd thunk it! I was done with this after last week's ep. There is nothing here that interests me. They should have stuck with the labored love angle from the pilot instead of going all nu-feminist so soon out of the gates.

Really, BW needs a great FEMALE writer to run this show. I think most of the male writers are screwing this one up -- it's like they're trying to copy Alias or Buffy or La Femme Nikita or whatever, but there's no singular, clear vision as to what to do. Too bad Espenson is busy ripping off the X-Files for Sci-Fi.

theres not one likable character, nothing we care about as the audience, and the only thing interesting to us at this point has been katie. the writing can be tweaked to fix some of this and katie can be moved into a lead role, but how long will it take to correct this screwed up series? with all the episodes in the can already, at least another season, and with its ratings erosion, thats about 1/2 season longer than it will last. before cancellation.

Steve Austin throws a bomb almost a mile to blow up the bad guys headquarters - New Bionic Woman bends back the thin aluminum blade of fan Oscar Goldman, a well dressed and charming guy has lunch with the president and only has to pick up the phone to order a nuclear strike and his office overlooks the capital - New Bionic woman's boss is the typical evil black ops, alterier motive, untrustworthy, Orwellian ambiguous psedo bad guy- skulking around damp Canadian basement warehouses in ill fitting black suits with no tie as if going to a rave party. Steve Austin was a good role model for kids and a fun show both adults and kids could watch with generally good stories grounded in the cold war and plenty of action - New Bionic Woman is an angsty, nihlist show where Jamie should be overseas fighting terrorists and warlords in Africa but instead fights(Who does she fight anyway - oh yeah the evil white military cultists running rampant across America??) Kids can't watch this show unless you want them to grow up to be angry conspiracy theorist goth types, and there is nothing really bionic going on. No good people. I guess it was too much of a stretch to make the central figure a heroic Iraq war vet injured in a tragic way (cause we never hear about our heroic vets losing limbs in the news), given a chance to continue a normal life and also kick ass with his/her new Bionic Superpowers. Throwing a tank on top of a bunch of Al Queda, or outrunning rocket fire, Ripping African Warlords limb from limb who murder children. Yeah that would have really sucked and the level of CGI we have now would have made actual cool Bionic feats at least on par with the 70's shows impossible. I said it earlier and I'll say it again, Michael Fucking Bay must do a big budget Six Million (Billion??) Dollar Man - How about that Josh guy from Transformers he would make a great Steve Austin. Guys and Gals let's do this show a favor and stop talking about it. Any publicity is good publicity right?? If this tree falls in the forest and none of us are there to hear it maybe it will just go away like the shitty Flash Gordon show that was as insulting to the fans.

Burgundy82, not so much "feminist." As Luna Moth wrote above, this ain't feminism. I wrote "nu-feminist" meaning this is yet another atypical entry in the current slate of actioners starring women. I'm sure you're familiar with the type -- scrawny women with lolita faces that can kick any man's ass in all weight classes because all the men are always portrayed more girly than the protagonist. That is, if she ain't screwing them all as she hops from bed to bed. Bionica Lewinsky has been doing plenty of these, all while trying to bring home the bacon and fry it up in a pan for her little sister.

exactly how I felt watching this week's show. British Accent needed for her cover? How Stupid Was That. sure, she IS British, so (wink wink) we will write a STUPID plot device so she has to "pretend" she is faking the accent but it really not faking at all and she is really faking the american accent and damn we are so fucking (bloody) clever that it just hurts sometimes to be us. This is their idea of good writing. This is why this show will continue to suck it hard until they pull it and retool it completely. There was NO reason in the story that her character had to be transferring in from Oxford. There was no basis in any part of the show so far for anyone on her team to assume she even could do a british accent. And there was no need, so why would they even try that? because these writers are HACKS.

And can they stop with cgi bionic ear tunnelling filler crap? Yes, we KNOW she has bionic hearing, already. I read somewhere that Katie is in for a total of 10 episodes. I will keep trying to stomach this shit to see her, but not even sure I can keep doing so. HUGELY disappointing show.

I thought of it a while back, but never posted on the Bionic Woman talkbacks. Didn't mean to not give credit as I had not seen it before. I have to admit, I laughed about it myself when I thought of it. At least the old ladies in my bridge club think I am clever. Chromedone, I was having the same discussion with a bunch of other people about the same issue: Heroes is going down the same road is Bionic Woman, instead of the other way around. It seams that everything wants to be as mysterious and twisty as Lost with all of these conspiracy plots and who is on what side. I hate to say it, but Chuck is more entertaining. I hate myself for saying that. I take it back.
