This used to be the greatest show on television. The reintroduction of Tony is a step in the right direction. Team Jack with Mandy for half the season only to find out that Tony is still a "good guy", and you have yourself a great season..

Will be weird not seeing CTU though.

Can't believe I'm about to say this after the shitfest that was season 6 but that trailer actually got me pretty excited. Not sure whether Tony as a bad guy is gonna make a hell of a lot of sense but since when has common sense had anything to do with 24.

That's the first thing I thought. Replace John McClane with Jack Bauer and you have yourself a season 7.

And Tony BETTER be revealed to be good or it's done. Forever.

I was so excited when that trailer started, him being at the hearing was beyond cool, and I was hoping seeing Tony again would be awesome, but WTF HE'S THE VILLAIN!! And he never had any look on his face but boredom. He obviously aint had many villain roles, he thinks he's looking evil, he more or less just looks bored. Plus back in season 3, Saunders was pretty much the same character. There better be something radically different about Tony this season, and they better have the best possible excuse for Tony being alive otherwise it won't be any better than season 6. And in case you forgot, season 6 started out exceptionally well, and only fell apart in the last 1/3 of the season, who knows, I hope season 7 is good.

If season 7 is as good as the preview, this might be worth the time. This show was so good until season six. I'm so pissed off about wasting my time with season six, that if seven doesn't turn out as good as what they're teasing us with here, I'm gone for good dammit. Shit I really hope it IS this good again.

You know, like when you were in school and you didn't do your homework and the next day you go in and your teacher forgets to collect the homework and you realize she's completely forgot about it and nobody says anything to her and you're completely in the clear. That kinda warm inside.

I kept trying to remember last year's trailer, and although some stuff seemed cool, I don't quite remember feeling all jazzed about it. But this season's preview, I think I'm looking forward to it. But Tony a baddie? Say it isn't so. Maybe they'll build his character up like Big Boss in Metal Gear. Or you never know, maybe one of these seasons Jack will become the baddie.

Finally................oh so sweet. So, Tony's back! Yay! Oh wait, he's a bad guy? And he's pulling off the Die Hard plot? This is the original idea they came up with for s7? Rip off Bruce Willis? I really hope there's more to it than that. The most ironic part of the trailor is when the voice-over guy says, "This promises to be a season unlike any other!" and then Jack starts to torture a guy for information. They always say that THIS season is going to be different and then we end up getting the same story all over again. I really hope they mean it this time (but I'll watch anyway because I don't know any better).

I had the pleasure of speaking with Jack Bauer himself after the Emmy's. We were at Spago and he took me out the back while he smoked a cigarette. After we did a brief interview, I turned the recorder off and we had a real conversation about 24. I've been watching the show since it first premiered, back when I was in high school, and I straight-up told him how disappointed I was with last season. He apologized and said he understood how I felt, explaining how hard it is keeping things fresh within the confines of the real-time format, especially during the middle of the season. He told me about some of the changes the show is undergoing, all of which sounded very intriguing. I told him how I, as a fan, appreciated his commitment to the show, in that he actually takes responsibility as one of its producers and he genuinely cares about what the fans think, which not all mega TV stars do. I'm a big fan of the new cast the showrunners have imported, plus it'll be good to see Jack back kicking ass with Tony Almeida. I agree with a lot of talkbackers that the showed jumped the shark last season after its surprise Emmy win and needed a complete overhauling. Thankfully, the creative forces behind 24 seem to have listened. That trailer definitely got me psyched for the new season, and even if the show doesn't return to the glory days of the first and second seasons, it can't possibly be as ridiculous as last year. Hopefully we'll see the writing staff experiment with the formula, and I'm sure they'll deliver some major surprises along the way. The show has earned the benefit of the doubt, so let's try and give it that. If things quickly regress after the season premiere, it may be time to walk away from 24 for good, but I really believe this show will turn things around and recapture what made it so fucking awesome in the first place. So here's to the return of Jack, the rebirth of Tony and the hiring of Red Foreman. Let's keep our fingers crossed for a Naked Mandy cameo.

It doesn't matter how delicious the cheesecake you offer me now looks. I always remember the shit. 24 lost its chance of redemption at the second half of day 3 (after a perfect first half) when Nina did not killed Kim while fleeing CTU. Can you imagine, wife and daughter murdered at same room, by the same murderer?. Then they should've made Day 4 all about Jack pursuing Nina. Or even with Day 3 ending badly as it did, at least they could've made Day 4 any good at all.

and while the last (couple) seasons have have really gone down the crapper, it does deserve a chance for redemption. The only worry though is that they seemed to be reincorporating the same ideas... After 6 seasons of the same thing I would've preferred a complete reboot. A fresh start with a clean slate with a whole new bunch of writers. Though I like Tony as the bad guy. Bauer needs an adversary that is his equal and who knows him better then he knows himself. There's no drama or suspense in a hero who is all powerful and who has no equal and who we know is just going to breeze through whatever squad of goons he encounters.

from Entourage. This season has some promise. I have been waiting from season one for Tony to turn on Jack. Yes, it really stretches the bounds of reality to make Tony alive and be now evil, but when has 24 ever pretended to stick to anything resembling reality. I truly believe from what I see in the trailer to make this a redemption season.

Then again, when I found out that Dr. Romano who was the puppet master behind season 5 was going to be Jack's brother, I had big hopes for season 6. Boy, was I wrong there.

How many times was CTU's security breached? How many times did the staff members at CTU spend hours and hours arguing? How many struggles over power were there at the top spot at CTU? With all the ridiculous bullshit that has happened at CTU, I for one will not be sad to see it absent this season. Also, what kind of world has the world of "24" become when you consider the US has had at least two presidents die tragic deaths and one president forced from office due to his terrorist ties. Also, the country has had attack after attack befall it and hundreds of innocent people killed. I have to imagine that the world in which "24" takes place has got to be very bleak and dangerous. I mean, as I pointed out in the beginning of this post, the very organization in charge of fighting terrorists has fallen victim to internal attacks at least three or four times over the course of the series. The government just needs to get off of Jack's back, and let him shoot first and possibly ask questions later. When has he been wrong about someone? Honestly, it is silly how many times the terrorists slip away because someone wouldn't trust Jack when he tries to tell them something. GRAVITAS!!!

Looks like they really have decided to shake the formula up this season, which should hopefully get rid of the horribly generic feel that last season had.

Hopefully Clarence Boddicker gets to do more than just interrogate Jack. I think we just need Miguel Ferrer and Ronny Cox to make an appearance and the Robocop cast will be complete!

What does the ending of Season 6 have to do with Tony's return not making any sense? The only thing that doesn't make sense about Tony's return is that 2 second scene where the CTU Doctors put a sheet over his body. They should have just wheeled him and left you thinking he was dead or whatever. I thought, back then even, that putting a sheet over him was a dumb idea.

wouldn't be a bad thing. Knowing 24, the trailer probably only shows the first six hours or so, up until the writers just start making shit up on the fly once they realize they need to do 24 hours worth of TV to fulfill the contract for the season.

I got all the spoilers people. When the lady is showing Jack that monitor, she is actually demonstrating USA's new technology to see into the Underworld. So, to get rid of all his DUI charges, Jack accepts to be temporarily killed and frozen so he can fight Tony and his Minions of Hell in the afterlife. However, in the end, a mole causes a terrorist attack on the facility Jack's body is frozen, so his capsule is lost amongst the debris. END OF DAY 7.
DAY 8 begins
by Vesuvio

Then, season 8 will start with Jack waking up 20 years in the future, where he'll find out that Kim Bauer is the first lesbian president of the USA, being engaged in a very graphic and explicit relation with Mandy. Kim's also a terrorist mole. The twist? Somehow Nina's ghost found out a way to come back with Jack in his own body, so now Jack has to deal with the struggle within (because every hero has to do it eventually), because half of him, evil NinaJack wants to kill the president (his own daughter! OMG) and have sex with Mandy, while the other half of him, GoodDrunkenJack, wants to protect his daughter and have sex with Mandy. My only fear is that maybe this premise isn't really streched enough for 24.
Don't understand all the hate on last season
by Fawst

To be honest, my friend and I (she's the biggest 24 fan I've ever met) thought they actually did a lot of things RIGHT. For instance, when Yanosh was being led out of that back room by the brother of that 80's bad boy, and the guards showed up, what did he do? Did he go along with them and drag out the whole thing? NO! He fixes his fuckin tie, takes a step forward, turns around and outs the fuckers! Way to go Galen!

Ok, so beyond that I don't have much. I liked it, though. This trailer is pretty good, it doesn't seem like they've changed much (CTU is gone, ok, replace with some other government org that Bauer is helping). Almeida being the bad is kinda... I dunno, I like it, and I'm sure he had a lot of fun playing the role, but I dunno. Could go either way. I have a feeling it's gonna be the cliche "They killed my wife! They took my LIFE away! WHAT DO I OWE THIS COUNTRY, JACK?! NOTHING!" kinda storyline. You know?

So the writers, wrote him out of the show. Go on to the 24 site and look at the chracters who bit the dust, and tony is one of them. Unless someone made a huge fuck up. Jack wearing his bathrobe goes into bathroom and hears the shower running and pulls back the curtain and its Tony. You can hear the howls of laughter from the audience. Quickly replaced by audience saying this fox.......

was not mentioned. Season 7 he's back and without and explanation and mighty pissed, from what I hear. Season 6 was all about the Bauer family and Jacks escape from a chinese prison and what the chinese did to audrey heller. trebel yawn. For some reason that has never been explained, the writers dropped thier planned ending for one which as we know saw jack gazing at the sea. tony as appearing at the end would have been a huge jolt and we would have been holy shit. but it never happened. So another question then is how do they explain Cherry Jones as the president. seeing as she is an unmentioned character. A little clarity wouldnt hurt.

with two consecutive chances to reinvent itself, at the end of seasons 4 and 5, the writers chickened out both times. They could've had Jack on the road, Lone Wolf-style: copped out. Could've done season 6 in China: not only did they cop out, they squandered every ounce of tension built by the finale of day 5 in about the first 10 minutes of day 6. Why should we believe them now??? That said, the trailer did look kinda cool. I'll probably give it a couple of hours. Of course, the way they front-load 24, the first 4 and last 2 hours are always the best. The stuff in the middle...meh, a lot of it.

way that the "killed" Jack at the end of season 4. We will find out instead of being shot up with the torture drug, he got the same stuff Jack got and was revived. That would mean that he was in cohoots with Peter Weller though and played a hand in Michelle's death and his almost death. That is plausible in the 24 universe.

Jack Turns to the dark side after being crapped on year in and year out. After years of distinguished service the guy has a dead wife, a dead girlfriend (the way sexy Nina Meyers) a daughter that won't give him the time of day, a son in law with one hand, a lingering heroin addiction, a whole mess of scars from going to Chinese Prison from which he was only sprung in order to let someone else kill him. God knows what condition his pension is in since he has been dead and fired a handful of times and now he is on FRAKING TRIAL. It's not so hard to believe that the hethan chinamen have brainwashed him to bring down the USA. The cult of Jack would allow him to ask for and GET Lord knows what, for which he would have perfectly good excuses for. He ends up giving the list of active agents to the Chinese, killing several key senators and eventually detonating a nuke in the whitehouse. Flash white, roll credits. Series over.

This season is obviously daring and original. And torture is a technique that works so well on TV that we should consider employing it in real life.

Now why would Fox pull a trailer from YouTube? I know that they're precious about copyright, but does this company really not want free advertising?

Also, I still bet that there's a mid-season slump since they can't keep up the pace and the writers never sketch out a complete season-arc beforehand.

I gave up on 24 a long time ago. Season 1 was absolutely amazing, one of the best seasons of television ever. Which is why I still use this name. S2 rocked as well, and had a really well thought out plot. S3 was a bit shaky in places but still had some great moments and characters. Season 4 was lame. Full stop - that's when I first tuned out - halfway through. I didn't watch S5 on TV but rented the DVD because I'd heard it was better than S4. And it was - largely due to the Logans. After 2 episodes of S6 I tuned out again and the reports sound truly awful. 24 has jumped. They are out of ideas. But I will give S7 a chance out of good faith. He *has* got the S1 hairstyle back after all. Maybe it's a sign...
