And it reminded me how good Wes can be when he simply writes relatable characters. I knew kids like that. Kids who lacked direction in their lives. Granted, they didn't fall into a life of crime like Dignan and Anthony (mostly Dignan) did. But I guess it wouldn't have surprised me if they did. Compare that to Life Aquatic. Yes, I know. That was supposed to be a father estranged from his son. Simple as that. But I never bought into it the way I did with Bottle Rocket.
Criterion of Bottle Rocket??? FINALLY!!!!!!!!! Yes. Very happy.

I have been waiting for that edition ever since they started putting Wes' films in Criterion releases. Whew. Very happy indeed.

But I love all of Wes' other films. Rushmore is my favorite, with The Life Aquatic coming in a close second. Unfortunately my fiance can't stand any of them, so I'll be seeing the Darjeeling Limited by myself.
Capone, that was well done.

I saw the movie today, and while I didn't think it was his best, it certainly reached in me and shook a few things loose. And this oiece was a perfect coda to the film. Thanks!
I think the Ocean's 11 films would've been better ...

... if the original idea of having Dignan and Anthony in the film as part of the 11 (I think the parts were changed and eventually filled for Scott Caan and Casey Affleck characters). It would have rocked.
Bottle Rocket is my second favorite, I like it much better the l

But I'm still waiting for Anderson to make something I like as half as much as Rushmore.
Sounds like the screening was great, glad I won tickets!

Too bad it was poorly managed and I didn't get in even though we had a place in line over an hour before the start!

Nice to hear Wes is wanting to do an extended cut of that movie. I've always thought it seemed a bit...truncated...and that there was some stuff missing all these years. And 20th Century-Fox still has a good relationship with Criterion, which bodes well for a DARJEELING edition down the road.
Better than the last 2.

In Hotel Chevalier, natalie portman has bruises all over her body.. does this relate in any way to Owen Wilson's wounds in Darjeeling Limited? I'm wondering if Wes meant for an implied relationship between those two characters. Maybe she was riding on the motorcycle with Owen when he crashed? Or am i reading too much into this?
I saw this last night and it hasn't left me since.

Beautiful, just really beautiful and sublime. I don't think more than five minutes has gone by that I didn't start thinking abotu this movie again. I loved the opening with Murray which I took more to mean that the film starts off with one story, but then chose to tell another spontaneously. Almost as if the film itself thought it would be telling one story but simply because that character didn't make that train it had to pick another to tell. But really it could have told either story and either would have been interesting. I honestly think it's Andersons best film. I know some people find his style redundant, but I think he could keep making movies for years just like he is now. In fact I really hope he does. Even the slow motion 70's music interludes I take more as a way to express something that can't be expressed any other way, like in a good musical when characters begin to sing and it just makes perfect sense, like there was just no other way to say it. And picking songs that brilliantly is an art all its own. I see the style more as a conduit to explore different characters in a way we would never get otherwise, rather than the other way around.
The bruises are from a lover, I think.
