In Harry's post, he told sly to call it "John Rambo" but I spoke up and told him to call it "Rambo, just Rambo, in all caps. Using his first name will confuse people..." I'm dead serious. I told him the box office would be bleak, b/c the title for this one will mean everything. "River of Blood" was too WWF, while "John Rambo" was too confusing and didn't connect the way it should. I've pasted my original post below. Give me some credit. I really think I played a part, given how quick the turnaround was on this new poster. Think about it. OK: First movie = First Blood Second Movie = Rambo: First Blood Part II. Not Rambo: Second Blood. Rambo: First Blood Part II. Then Rambo III So now, what should properly be titled Rambo III: First Blood Part IV, is being titled Rambo. But Rambo is the title of Rambo: First Blood Part II, which means THIS movie is ALSO Rambo: First Blood Part II. If not, it would be RAMBO I, which, apparently taking place between First Blood and Rambo: First Blood Part II would make Rambo a prequel to Rambo: First Blood Part II. And this most certainly is not a prequel. Title = stoopid. Of course, as I look at the poster, the following dialogue enters my head: ROCKY: Hey, Yo, uh Mick. Really cool! Now the title change... John Rambo implies that it's the last one, he couldn't call it Rambo 4, and he didn't want the cheese of a long title. Even though the title "Rambo" is kinda weird since there was a Rambo: First Blood 2 and Rambo 3..it's all good. It's simple and it works. Stallone: Rambo. That's all you need to know. Evil John Kreese goes back in time to kill Rambo before he can have offspring that will save the world from "Judgment Day". Trautman sends Apollo Creed back in time to get young Trautman (played by Dominic Monaghan) to enlist Johnny in the Vietnam War and save the world. Of course, JJ will take liberties with "Rambo" continuity, including a redesign of the jagged knife Rambo carries with him. Young Johnny to be played by Shia Lebeouf, and in a bit of stunt casting, Sabrina LeBeauf, who played Sondra on the Cosby Show, will be cast as Young Johnny's sister.

It would rock my world if it was done in all seriousness as an honest to goodness sequel to both franchises yet a stand-alone film in its own right. Retired Vietnam Vet & Zen master Rambo in Thailand or wherever versus a gang of Predators in a balls out love letter to the eighties action film genre. Distraught at the loss of his virginity, he continues a downward spiral of existence; broke, sleepy, and occasionally in extreme rectal distress. One day Rambo is hired by a Christian minister to help rescue some kidnapped missionaries. Stuffing the medicine down the snake's gullet, he manages to tie the snake's mouth shut with his mullet band. Normally I'm a dick, but I have to admit I'm beginning to look forward to this. I really enjoyed Balboa and if he takes the same real-world approach then count me in. Plus, Sly kicks ass and is a funny fucker. He needs to write more scripts, though.

it may work for rocky, john mcclane and transformers, but it can't be a solid based hit every fucking time you wanna "give a fond farewell to a great charector from a previous installment of a classic that sucked." or if you wanna cash in on a stupid concept that was never that great in the first place because the terminator, g.i fucking joe and rambo and all those other one-note, one joke and one-dimensional charectors like marty mcfly and maxwell smart just wanna show and tell their story once or twice and be done with it for christ's sakes. now on the other hand, this is an impressive poster but i doubt it'll be good because as i said it worked for rocky last year but it just won't work out so well for rambo. the first blood movies aren't very interesting, compelling, action-packed or for that matter, appealingly worth a shit. i am looking forward to the new indiana jones and what sly does after this.

Fuckin' January. So basically the studio has opted to dump this in a theatrical dead zone. Either the movie sucks or the studio peeps are hoping for a mega hit, in January, when it precipitates snow. Ice coats the roads. People don't want to go outside because it's friggin' cold. I hope this movie kicks as much ass as the trailers undeniably indicate. I just hope there's no impromptu dance numbers and a sudden reveal of a heretofore unknown piano playing skill.

This poster looks absolutely incredible. I disagree that it can't have a subtitle. Some text going across the bottom could work. "John Rambo" in the spot of "Rambo" would have also worked. But yeah, I agree that there's an appeal to the simplicity. Hopefully it doesnt create confusion.

Mr. Stallone. I really like this poster, it's got a very good style to it. Here's hoping the move manages to follow up on that. The title "Rambo" also fits very well. I too sort of feel that the title "John Rambo" in a way meant the end of the line for Rambo (Perhaps becasue of Rocky Balboa?) so perhaps it would be best saved for the final film? I hope this movie, like "Rocky Balboa" before it will be a more down to earth and toned down movie compared to the previous "Rambo 3". I really hope you pull off giving Rambo a very good reason to go back into action too. Greetings from Norway, and keep up the great work.
