I wasn't bowled over with the pilot. Maybe it was too much hype that I expected too much for any series to achieve. It did annoy me whenever the narrator talked about anyone's age (too Seusical). I think they at times try to be clever for their own good. There is a lot to like about this show. The cinematography is amazing for a series. The show is original and has a lot of possibilities, but I think it was more style over substance for me. Worth it for me to stick with it, but I ain't sold just yet.

And three more episodes never to hit the airwaves and going straight to iTunes/DVD. Love the style--reminds me of Yann Samuell's "Love Me if You Dare" but toned down enough to sustain a series. And the McGriddles girl is in this episode!

And i'm not ashamed to admit it. And not EVEN because I dream about Cheno daily. And all the NC-17 fun we would have together... I really dug the use of palendrome to illustrate synchronicity, balance, fairness etc. I think that'll come in to play more. and by palendrome I don't mean literally, I mean 'boutique travel travel boutique' and the like. It might annoy people if they aren't aware that it's there for more than just laughs. But I think there's significance there and therefore, it is all a ok. :)

I guess I can kind of see how some people might not take to it, but if they can maintain this level of quality, this is easily my favorite TV show. It's like a mix of a European film with a Cohen brothers flick (maybe the same Cohen listed on closing credits?). It's like Twin Peaks on ice cream crack. Either way, I've never had a show so completely hook me so early. I've been so bummed out with the lack of creativity in Hollywood lately. This is just what I needed.

He was the brilliant cinematographer for all their early films, including Raising Arizona. I can see a bit of that film's style in this one. Barry can also be a sly black humorist when he's let loose. Forget his recent crap like RV (after a great start he's been going south since Wild Wild West), he brings the goods to his TV shows. "Maximum Bob" "Karen Sisco" and "The Tick" are his. This also means that with is track record for quality shows that don't last we should enjoy this while we have the chance.

Yes its good, in a if I needed a Dr. Seuss narration like a baby retard sort of way. Come on someone else had to take the glove in the car as a hand job joke? I CAN'T BE THE ONLY ONE? I may be the only one thats gotten a hand job in a car here. But at least most of you get masturbation jokes? And bacci40 you obviously do not understand the importance of dating smaller women... until they turn old and all ... well you know ugly.

In all the senses of that world. I loved Chenowith's musical number, especially the overhead shot with the dog. I don't mind stretching the fantasy as long as it fits in with the established world, which in this case, is freakin' crazy. And my usually taciturn 14yr old laughed out loud at the shot of the Hummer, though I'm not sure he got the irony. So far, this is the only show I'm watching on the night it airs. Still DVR it, though, because I refuse to watch a commercial I don't have to, and we can never really sit down to watch toddler-free tv until after 8. By the way, is the shout-out to a recently cancelled show a reference to Veronica Mars? The bad guy was the framed professor.

That was terrible not because it wasn't good singing, but because it ground the momentum to a halt. It was an indulgent little pay of respect to Kristin's stage fame and it landed with a thud. I get the whole joke -haha, she kept getting interrupted. It was a The Simpsons joke in live action proving definitively that it doesn't work.

this is the type of show that is so particular and stylized and aiming for that quirky, happy goodness that if they don't execute to perfection at every level it's going to feel a bit... lacking. This isn't really a complaint mind you, it's more like expecting something even better considering what they've got... like the really gifted, super smart student who turns in a perfectly acceptable term paper but you know that he's capable of doing so much more so you feel a bit disappointed. The creators deserve more time to make each episode then what a typical 1 hour weekly is allotted. The writing is good but if they had more time to polish it and tighten it up it'd be perfect. The acting is good but if they could only do a few more takes, maybe change it up and go for variations I'm sure it'd be better. Same with the directing and lighting etc. Good stuff but you know if they had more time the scenes would pop out of the screen. It all just seems to fall a tad short of what it should be and what you know the creators want it to be. The talent is all there, just not the time. It's a shame really. I'd prefer to see this as a monthly 2 hour special.

It's too prevalent and a bit too cutesy. I'm trying hard not to have it remind me of the first season of Desperate Housewives, but then they laddle on the whimsical music and it recalls that lesser show a little more than I care for. The show itself, though, is fantastic. Everyone is inhabited in their parts and game for anything and it really works. Friel and Pace are just doe-y enough to keep you smiling throughout the show and McBride is terrific. And of course my crush on Kristin Chenowith continues. I happened to like the musical interlude tonight and look forward to more but used sparingly. This show really is a sort of giddy experience and refreshing. I just wish that the narration weren't so present.

I like the colorful imagery, the set designes, the image of a mass grave full of crash test dummies. I like the props. If there's an Emmy for prop design, the Dandy Lion SX should win it hands down this year. The Yellow Submarine as a hybrid prototype. I loved the musical interlude and realize why they kept it a secret; the critics all love this and hate Viva Laughlin - if they warned people there would be singing they'd all run away screaming "Cop Rock!!!"

What really annoys me is Chuck's propensity to just rattle on and waste the revived crime victims sixty seconds with what she thinks is relevent. Why do they bring her along?

I was concerned this might become formulaic with the crime of the seek, but obviously the level of whimsy is unlike anything seen since Max Headroom, Twin Peaks or Pee Wee's Playhouse. I can't see this series ever getting boring if the writers can maintain this level of imagination.

British television, where shows are written in 13 episode arcs for MAYBE two seasons. Maybe three, but that is certainlty pushing it. This show has a great premise, great dialogue, and great looking, but does anyone honestly expect this show to run for five or six seasons? I honestly wish there was a cable station out there devoted entirely to shows with only a one or two season story arc with new shows. That way, the audience would get to see shows like 'Drive', 'The Nine', etc, where a unique story could be told and then end without fear of being cancelled or fear of being written into the ground by extending it well beyond a natural death (sorry about the pun). This is the type of show that would be better off as only a one or two season show or extended miniseries.

I watched the Pilot and last night's episode back to back. Both me and my wife enjoyed it very much. Either the show will catch on like wild fire or people won't want to try it because it "looks different", it'll get some Emmy Nominations and then they'll cancel it in its 3rd season. I'll be sure to enjoy this show for however long it lasts. Its definitely a nice breath of fresh air. Last night's bits with Chi knitting, Olive singing and the Hummer were brilliant. Great cast, nice style and original premise. Loved it all.

I don't dislike Burton because of his style. Usually I find his films to be lacking in story and good, solid character development. Don't get me wrong, Ed Wood was a wonderful film. Just wish I could have said the same for Mars Attacks, Sleepy Hollow and Big Fish. :P

I personally felt like the second ep of Pushing Daisies is what made me go from feeling it was cutesy to being something great. Like you point out, there is a lot of good, funny parts that really move the show from the kiddie fairy-tale of the first episode, to something funny and wacky and original. It IS still a little too cutesy, but I figure once the show gets moving that will die down while the good stuff will stay strong. Oh, and I too couldn't help but laugh when we saw the bad guys car. What was great was the reveal...so quick without being overly obvious. I also really like the way the characters obviously like each other but still don't always get along. The conflicting motives of the detective, the pie maker and Chuck make for some of the best moments on the show.

It's cute, and I liked it in the first episode, but I felt it was overpowering in the second episode and I hope they are going to rely on it less as the series gets going. It kinda feels like it's coasting on it's quirkiness and cinematography.. which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but I really don't care much for the actual characters of the show a great deal. Well, okay.. black guy may have won me over with the counting money in a bubble bath line. But Chuck and Pie Maker just don't do it for me.

If there is one element that is going to lose the show to me, it's that narration. Not just superfluous, it's is SO damned annoying. Hey, I like Jim Dale as much as anyone, but the part he plays in this is completely irritating. If it remains in the 3rd ep, then I'm gone.

Really, If I was brought back to life and a single touch from one person would kill me again, I'd get AS FAR AWAY as possible from that guy, not stand RIGHT NEXT TO HIM for almost the entire episode. Really. And since the dog 'Likes Salt', you're going to tell me he never crawled up and licked Ned's face while he slept, or accidently brushed against him FOR 18 YEARS????? The show is cute, well acted, has clever dialog, but just oversteps any sort of logic that it just pushes me away.

Commander in Chief. And I say this only because the show will continue to do well until American Idol returns and ruins any other show airing opposite against it. If it only lasts one season I at least hope Fuller gets the respect from ABC to at least finish his story. This show is easily the best of the fall season. Sure it may be over the top. but it's still very well done. Shouldn't this show be airing after the housewives on Sunday's? It deserves a better timeslot.
