Jablonsky's work on the Island was much better, I think he was under some duress with the timescale on Transformers and it shows. Most of the cues sounded like they were written on his DAW with what is certainly an impressive library with a minimal amount of orchestral overdubs. Not a standout for me, I'd sooner listen to the likes of Powell's Bourne Ultimatum.
Why would you want to listen to this?

If it makes you remember the horrible flick

I feel for all the talented people involved in this SHIT WRECK.

Bay ejaculum smothering all the work I would have loved to have been able to see and hear and apreciate were it not for all the aptly named BAYHEM going on.

Other than Vern(who must be despairing at every mention) this site sure does love this horrible MOVIE!

I remember the score as pretty uninspired and lame.

But since you have already pointed out that it sounds much better without the movie, I try to listen to it again.
PS: Yes, I am not ashamed of saying that I love the movie.

But sorry, cruisin' listening to the transformers score will not just prevent you from getting laid but prevent you from having human contact of any kind. Mike bay excepted. I can see him cruisin' in a topless sports car whilst some "actress" polishes his knob and he's cranking the score from "transformers' over the radio.
Jablonsky's score was terrific. You people are batshit crazy.

If you've seen the scene at the end of The Island and heard that music you'd know how talented a composer the guy is. No, he's not an Elfman or a Williams, but he's pretty damned solid and just as good if not better than Hans Zimmer. The Transformers score was just another level of excellence in an already terrific movie. Suck it haters. Suck it hard.

I mean come on, there were music cues STRAIGHT of out Terminator and many other flicks. The movie itself was disapointing enough, but that score was just a collection of ripped off music.

Holy shit. This thing costs 16.99 on the itunes music store. That's incredibly overpriced for itunes. It's not a double album, the thing only clocks in at 59.7 minutes. So, what's up?

First of all, having certain tastes doesn't make your opinions more valid. And if you think THOSE particular bands lends credibility to you, you're even FURTHER off. That's a pretty lame list you got there.

a nice read. can you say anything about the liner notes? I was debating buying the hard copy over downloading it on iTunes. I may just do that now, out of sheer impatience, but if there was something worth reading on the liner notes i can hold out for a hard copy.

Who ever thinks this consitutes as accomplished filmscoring really needs to broaden their sphere of listening. Ok it's slick and serves it's function, I personally rate Jablonsky as a composer (his work on the Island was great), but his gig on Transformers was dialled in, lots of impressive MV sample libs, the customary MV studio patina, buuuut ultimately trite and bland. Fair enough if som bods enjoy it, but high art it aint.
Truly a great score...

Most of Michael Bays films have great scores, Bad Boys (but not Bad Boys 2) The Rock (awesomeness), Armageddon and The Island. Pearl Harbor isn't bad, but like the script it's quite lacking. The Island score is incredibly moving and really is one of the strongest points of that movie. Same goes for Transformers. The Arrival of the Autobots montage is a seriously great moment... if only the script had been better and they cut out the military stuff and added slightly more decepticons and autobots then it would have been awesome.
Wow, thats pretty good as far as media ventures go

Totally underwhelmed in the cinema by the sound effects and rock music interludes. Has the same vibe as Steve's "My name is Lincoln" track from the Island. Good stuff.

Steve Jablonsky rules. As Vern pointed out, portions of this score rival Schindler's List in musical complexity, and I can't wait to hear what Jablonsky comes up with next!

While the Transformers score certainly isn't bad, it just sounds like a typical action score. Try telling a story with your music, people, not just playing a theme everytime someone/thing walks onscreen.

This is not complex music. Listen to LOTR for complex music. It's a mix of scores already written (such as Batman Begins) and typical heroic/battle tracks. Again, not bad...just not terrific.
LOTR?! Steve Jablonsky will score The Hobbit

What's all this rubbish about Steve Jablonsky not being complex? I bet you if Howard Shore is not available for The Hobbit, Janblonsky will be the first person Peter Jackson taps for the project. It's time for Zimmer fans to stop living in shame. Ramin Djwadi for Iron Man!

It was epic and sounded pretty damn heroic. That automatically beats out any of the other scores out there. also be Honest with yourselves...John Williams & Danny Elfman have become rather one-note organic-artisty depricating drivel. Jablonsky fits into that catergory of Jon Ottman, Michael Giachino, james horner.

TF score sounds cheap and simple. The usual Media Ventures/Remote Control quick, copy-paste stuff. I'd never understand the excitement around this junk of score while a lot of beautiful score is undereleased till today.

You must be joking. Peter Jackson has more intelligence than that. When I speak of LOTR being musically complex...it has over 80 themes which are consistently developed (telling the story: progressing, declining, combining with other themes, trying to overthrow other themes, etc.) throughout the three films. THAT is musical complexity at its finest.
Oh...

Though very much a Zimmer styled score, I think Jablonsky does enough with the themes of the soundtrack to deliver an entertaining one. Suite and Review is up at ScoreNotes.com if interested.
