Now that's a movie that's begging to be made. What happens when an irresistible force meets and unmovable object? Hulk vs. Harry!

Reminds me of the Hulk Vs. Superman crossover. In fact, as I recall, that was the tagline for the Hulk Vs. Superman crossover. Can't remember the line for the Superman Vs. Muhammed Ali, but I'm sure it had something to do with floating like a butterfly. And that's also a film that's begging to be made, right after Justice League, The Brave and the Bold, and a movie with Krypto, the superhorse, and that supermonkey from back in the 60s.

Cool beans. I'm wondering since they filmed this stuff in Hamilton, what was the purpose of setting up a replica set in downtown Toronto along Yonge street (where I was at). I had no intention of seeing this movie, but now I think I might just to see how the finished footage turned out. Also to see how well some of the animation done by fellow animators here in Toronto turns out.

Idiots can't seem to realize Hulk is CGI, but they, America is full of retards so don't let it get you down. On a side note, my buddy meet Liv Tyler at a little hippy-ish market north of Toronto. said she was very nice and is considering moving to the Toronto area. so take that, fuckers! liv Tyler wants to move to the T dot! ...to say "you could go two ways with it," that Ang Lee took the high road and was beat down for it, and that an earlier draft of the script was the low road and it's what the stupider crowd wanted to see. Why on earth would you believe those were the only two ways to go?

Neither of those two paths were completely acceptible, apparently. You can't say Hulk was a great movie or even a really good one just because Ang Lee made it. That's insane. Sure he's an arthouse hero, but how does that qualify him as an ideal fantasy action director? (For the record: not everyone thinks Crouching Tiger was great. Or even good at all.) Maybe it is possible that The Hulk was too far out of Lee's milieu for him to be the appropriate choice. Because I for one think the movie was a failure at what it should have been, or even tried to be. It was too campy, too melodramatic and too bombastic all at the same time. Someone with more experience in the genre would probably have done a better job with the flick. Maybe this new director isn't the one to do it, but maybe he is. We'll know when the flick comes out.

I've always suspected Universal hired Ang Lee to direct the movie because they had noticed how fans had approved of Bryan Singer doing X-Men, Peter Jackson doing LOTR, and Sam Raimi doing Spider-Man. Jackson and Raimi had cult cred already, and loved the properties they directed; Bryan Singer was someone previously known for high-brow dramas like The Usual Suspects and Apt Pupil, so he was appreciated for his dramatic work. So Universal (I imagine,) thought it would be a good idea to pick up a director with a background in highly emotional films so as to resonate with the emotions of the film - to show us they were taking the property seriously, and thus, Hulk would join the ranks of LOTR, Spider-Man and X-Men as genre films made with passion for the material. But I think Hulk backfired bigtime because Lee just wasn't capable of making something that was more recognizably straightforward and less emotionally complex or angst-ridden.

The Hulk movie should at the very least have been fun. It really wasn't. It wasn't as bad as many AICN'ers claim it was, but it certainly wasn't worthy of much praise.

And it doesn't mean that the next movie should be dumbed down just to make the masses happy, but it does give them the opportunity to make it without the pretentiousness of the last film. I hope they do.

pretentious windbags calling anyone who didn't like it some kind of mouth breather because it's by the great Ang Lee so it must be over everyone's heads. *They literally drew comic book panels on the screen*. What is this, Tank Girl? That was horrible. And The Hulk hopping around like a rabbit...ok, maybe he did that in some of the issues of the comic but there's a reason why they are two different media. What might be passable on the printed page might just look fucking stupid on screen. Hulk dogs? And the father. Christ, don't get me started on that abortion. Ang's movie sucked, period.

...wow. What a stupid fucking douche. On behalf of Canada let me apologize. Hamilton is to Toronto as Jersey is to NYC. It's where oxygen deprived steel workers come from. It's a hole in the wall and the core is boarded up. When movie's do shoot there it's only help with the necessary demo work. It's not a poor city though like this tardly asshole purports. It's just VERY base level in terms of intellect. There's a university there that wishes it wasn't. Some of the morons there think they're badasses from hard areas but they're ALL gigantic pussies when it really comes down to it. This dogshit was probably all 'yo yo dog' up until his mom came to pick his fat ass up.

Additionally in Canada it's never very hard to get on any set. Sometimes it's harder not to be on a movie set. Only a total rube like that portly motherfucker would run around (fast as his sweating fat ass could) and feel the need to brag about it. Hey cum guzzler! Even hear that productions like shooting here because we don't have invasive motherfuckers like you sticking their noses where they don't belong?!?!

His films are just boring, period. Crouching Tiger was a derivative borefest with hokey action choreography ( the flying over rooftops shit was lame. Just because you can remove the wires digitally doesn't mean it automatically looks believable.) and a story lifted from the Star Wars films. His films have no passion or emotion which is why when the characters in his film do emote, it's always melodramtic and over the top; but someone was right when they said his films look great. They do. He's very technically proficient but that only makes him a technocrat not an artist. His films are, what my film professor would have called "beautiful looking wallpaper". I think someone above hit it on the head when they said the literal "comic book panel" look is where he went wrong with The Hulk. The story and the characters itself I actually found very compelling and the fight in the desert was fantastic but the overstylized approach ruined it and distracted from any kind of connection I had with what was going on in the story. In the end, the actual tone of the film felt schitzophrenic to me. Oh, and as far as this film having lax security; for those of us who have worked on large scale action films, you know that when you have a large scale action set piece on public property (especially a downtown district), it's just impossible to keep everyone out. It would take hundreds of PAs to make sure no one was within eye sight of the scene. Everyone's main priority is safety and locking down the frame, not nosey people. Wherever there's a shoot, there's going to be nosey people asking you what's going on and what you're working on. It's just an excepted part of the buissiness. Not only that but it's just shit blowing up so who cares if people see as long as they're not in the shot? It's not a dialouge scene that would leak the plot. That's the stuff you want to keep under wraps. If you're going to inconvieniance local citizens by shooting a big production in there neighborhood all night, why not let them see some of the fireworks? That's what they did on this film because you can clearly hear people clapping and it ain't just the crew. Anyway, looking forward to seeing a new approach to a great property.

I also thought Eric Bana was just fine as Bruce Banner. Excellent post by the way Lightstormer, I think you're very right about the reason why they asked Lee for the first Hulk film. At least they have the backbone to admit that Hulk was a steaming turd, and correct their mistake. Warner Bros., on the other hand, will pump out another Superman fiasco exactly like the first one, only 50% more turdy, and then try to say that the franchise is dried up and that is why the movie tanks. Bad casting and mediocre actors can be overlooked if the story is top notched. But if the story sucks, the best actors and effects in the world won't save it.

The Planeteers aren't in hiding. We just quit. We'll be back when MEG is released. I.E., never. But I am pleased and humbled that you and sundry other Chuddies mention us daily. The scars will never heal, will they? As for John Paul...er....Creepy Thin Man, he's a reject everywhere he goes. He posted shit about Harry, videos, picture, etc about that fat bastard. Harry will no doubt be amused when he recieves those, and realizes he posted news from a douchey canadian fast food worker--and I'm not even joking having seen John Paul's resume first hand--who has disparaged his girth and complexion all across the interwebs. CTM is a douche to be hated by all. Hilarious that he got this posted, though.

Abomination could be racist and choose Harlem. I'm taking that as a slight leak about the script. May be wrong but I choose to put my faith in my own ignorance and day-dreaming above everything else. Yes that's a choice that has ruined my life and alienated my friends but I'm 100% right about this one......right?

Sam Elliott, the whole Desert Fight, heck I'll say it even the infamous Hulk Dogs. What didn't work? All things Nick Nolte, the whack job finale, and the odd 'do I really have to do this-?!' Jennifer Connolly performance. I like her in general, ditto Nolte, but something really was off there.

This should be an improvement. Remember guys-Hulk should at the least be F*U*N* somewheres along the line. Yes you can have Banner be tormented, Yes you can have Emil Blansky(or whatever the Abomination's called) be an unlucky thug, but screw it-it's a Jeckyll/Hyde/Frankenstein kinda flick, it's not supposed to be some foray into Fruedian shit, at least not the Hulk/Defenders stuff I know/grew up w/ primarily from the 70's/60's reprints. So-we'll see.

All they need are some Giant Robots in there, and we'll be set.

And for the record, I never said I hated Ang Lee's Hulk. It was just a letdown. Like I said above, I think it failed to be what it should have been and what Lee set out for it to be. I did enjoy the action of the second half, as over-the-top as it was, but then it was almost as though the melodrama of the first 2 acts was so operatic that it almost made sense that the action would be so exaggerated as well. I do agree that the showdown between Nolte's gigantic Hulk-ish character and the Hulk in the 3rd act pretty much tipped those bombast scales entirely. It reminded me of the Mummy Returns, how Sommers directed action in three different styles - loud, louder and WAY FUCKING LOUD.

And I appreciate the people backing me up on my Crouching Tiger statements. I did think it was a very beautiful-looking movie, but in terms of story and theme, it just had no real impact on me. Kudos to Garbageman if he was moved by the film in some emotional way, or if it was a profound experience for him, but it just wasn't that kind of a movie for me. Sorry if that makes me retarded.

I was not trying to disparage the people of Harlem, for there are slums in Hamilton just as there are in Toronto or any other city on the face of the Earth. It’s just that Harlem’s slums are world renowned for their ghettotastic nature. Believe me, if I could afford to go on vacation with the vacation pay I get from my FASTFOODJOB (TRUE SP tards still high five each other over hacking one of my proxies.) and I wanted to go to some quality slums then I can’t imagine a better hood then Harlem. Also, if you got a close up view of the sets built you would see just how run down they are dressed. Everything is grimey and dirty, so I still stand by my slums of Harlem comment. P.S. While I don’t like Harry or Drew, I loved AICN for what it used to stand for, Cool News, and I had such hope for The Scorched-Planet. But, alas, I was looking for Gods in a room filled with retarded children. Oh sweet pathos, The Planeteers are all but dead because they have no fight left in them, apart from posting resumes, which is technically stalking but that’s all they’ve got, but they will still high five each other in a room of mirror’s, convinced they are Legion. I will continue to make fun of Harry, Drew, TheNunz and Faraci but that doesn’t mean I don’t want to partake in the discussion of movies, which is why we all came here in the first place. And I have to applaud Harry for being such a good sport for posting the article despite my utterly vicious attacks on him and Drew. A lesser man would have shut down registration and closed ranks, just like Jimmy and The Scorched-Planet R.I.P.

The Incredible Hulks casting department. When they were looking for extras to fill the scene for this HARLEM SLUM, they advertised for Blacks and Asians, no doubt because of their preconceived notions that run down area’s of a city can only be populated with minorities but as I said before, Hamilton has slums but they are predominantly Caucasian. Holy shit, I just thought of something, Asians, Blacks, Caucasians…ABC……looks like us honkys are third on the list….fuck me….

And I also, speaking of racist, like how you all assume that anyone talking about blacks is not black themselves, as if every single person who frequents this site is white and male (and fat, I might add) Seriously man you make blacks look like fags the way you label somebody racist each and every time anything remotely related to black gets talked about. ...or a combo like the Silver Surfer in FF2? Just curious. I can't stand the TV hulk. A roided bodybuilder with bad paint and a bad wig. I actually liked the CGI Hulk from the Ang Lee version because that's about the size and monsrosity he should be. Not some 6'2" bodybuilder. He should be bigger than "puny humans" are.
