... refers to a tandem Bernie Mac/Ashton Kutcher hosting effort where all of the skits are remakes or continuations of once-funny characters that have had their catchphrases beaten into the ground. Oh wait, that's every show since about 1991. BTW, is this the equivalent of having the kid who wasn't Anthony Michael Hall from Weird Science guest-host in 1985?
I'm guessing Dec 1st host will be...

Oh, wait. I don't.

Probably just because I'm behind the times, and I don't see half the cool new movies all the young kids are watching until they go MVP at the Hollywood Video Store.

. . . Katherine Heigl, Michael Cera, Leslie Mann. . . Come on people! How long does AICN have to smoke Apatow's pole for you to know who Jonah Hill is??? I admit that Apatow & crew are way overexposed right now but every other word out of Hill's goofy face in Knocked Up and Superbad had me rolling. Too bad he'll be at the mercy of SNL writers next month . . .

It's the cast and writers of SNL. Why does AICN still post news on this show? It hasn't been culturally relevant in at least a decade.

1. To Shuttlepod_10: Jonah Hill is not an "extra in Superbad". The dude is on the frickin' poster!!

2. Now I see where all the bitching on this site comes from apparently everyone here is 50 YEARS OLD and knows nothing about movies. If you call yourself a filmgeek and you don't know who Jonah Hill is you are a LIAR and a FRAUD!!

3. Yes, we get it SNL hasn't been culturally relevant since the 60's and is therefore pointless. (Everytime anything SNL is posted someone has to point this out). By that logic though American Idol must be the best, most watchable thing on TV. In which case - good luck to you.

4. If you've seen any of the digital shorts you'd know that there's plenty funny still left on SNL. It's just that they seem to have a problem writing for the live format (a problem on a show with the word Live in it's title). If SNL wasn't live I pretty much guarantee it would be one of the funniest things on tv. Don't believe me? Go watch the "I Ran" Digital Short from last week with Andy Samberg and Adam Levine from Maroon 5. Classic in any era.

If it were compacted into the funniest 30 minutes, had a rule about no recurring sketches, and got rid of 95% of the guest hosts and musical guests (think cameos instead).

of SNL hosts. They seem to be going for names that many of us (including me) have never heard. One should never have to google a name just to place a face with a SNL host. Just shows you that SNL is grabbing who they can.

I also am too never hearing of Jonah Hill. Okay, he's the new "fat kid from stand by me", now I get it. But really, I am over 50 and out of douche and even after reading several reviews of Superbad still didn't recognize his name. Would it have hurt to actually mention who he is in the article? Because if SNL is just going to draft hosts at random from MySpace, I'm available.

Go ahead and crucify me on the altar of public opinion for this, but I don't see why a couple of schmoes overhauling gags from 80's movies that I used to watch on USA's Night Flight are such a big deal. They're the Puff Daddies of comedic film, remixing samples and putting them to mediocre beats. If they want to make an 80's movie so bad, then why don't they just MAKE one already so we can look at it fondly and go "Ahh, those were the days.." and go about our business. Hacks. Both of 'em.

Complaining about trendyness.

Everyone is complaining about the trendyness of the host and the quality show. As far as I can tell saying SNL is past it's prime is about the trendyest thing anyone can do. No one realizes the show is going through a great period until it's already over. When Will Ferrell was on the show, it sucked because he wasn't adam sandler, and and when adam sandler was on the show it sucked because there wasn't Chevy Chase. When I watch the show with friends they always laugh at something, but make fun of it when it's over. I don't know why this show is such a popular target.
Also....

If you went to the movies this summer, you should have a fucking clue who Jonah Hill is, that guy has had a bit roll in probably every movie made in the last five years. All of them.
