now that solomon may open the door for more of his works to film like conan, i wish it could have happened in the 30s, and it was almost going to be w/ stop motion like king kong. CGI is as undeveloped fof film akin to the silent movie effects.

Steven Strait. Hollywood's got a hard-on for him. I haven't seen anything that impresses me so far but this could go a long way towards making him a household name. We'll see. Personally, I thought the trailer looked pretty cool, and I like the vibe the poster's going for.

Jean M. Auel? I've only read "Clan of the Cave Bear" but I thought she did an excellent job with creating that pre-civilization world. Of course, I don't really know if the two works are comparable as far as time periods go, but I definitely found it a fun read as far as speculative historical fictions go. I hope the movie is better than the tragic "Clan of the Cave Bear" film.

Godzilla was a coming of age movie for me...Before that point every movie I saw in the theatre I basically liked... Godzilla was the first one that made me leave the movies in silence and gave me a wierd feeling in my stomach as if something just wasn't right.

his movies always have GREAT trailers. day after tomorrow, i was like, wow this is gonna be great. should have known. Godzilla had an awesome teaser. so yeah, this will probably be mediocre to crap. and Apocalypto was only decent, but it sure was pretty to watch.

Just another pretty boy of below average talent that Hollywood is going to foist upon us as a 'star' and the public will buy it for all of a few minutes before the public realise he's not much of a star at all and reject him from their mainstream bosom.

That's EXACTLY what I was going to say...hahaha..!! All I see on that poster are those two warnings at the top, a hairy elephant and a midget...! Like our host I liked Godzilla quite a bit the first time round, and the creature scenes still hold up all too well after all these years. Yeah, all the other scenes are pretty sucky, but I bet that if the role of Broderick had been given to say, Danny Trejo, almost everybody on this crazy film board would kneel for Emmerich's Godzilla film. The Day after Tomorrow has the coolest and most effective effects scenes I ever saw in a Hollywood disaster flick and I've watched my disc of Emmerich's very brutal period revenge flick The Patriot at least 3 or 4 times in the last few years, I'm a big fan of that movie, Mel Gibson absolutely rocks in that film. And Jason Isaacs is one of the greatest villains in all of film history in it. Like all other Emmerich films since Stargate,I'll check this out myself at the theater, the trailer looks entertaining enough. And oh, to those that say Apocalypto blew, sorry boys, but I don't believe any of you saw it. And no,Emmerich's cavemen flick is not gonna turn out to be anything like Gibson's Apocalyto.
A question .....

Why is everyone comparing this to Apocalypto ? Surely you retards (who have supposedly seen it) are aware the Mayans were a race who lived around 600 AD ?!?!? Still, you only about 10,600 years out. You people crack me up.

If you want to promote a film, don't employ a schoolboy with a copy of Photoshop to do your artwork. This poster is badly designed & badly executed. Everything is wrong with it, from the typeface to the layout, the posing of the mammoth, the compositing, the paintwork - all dreadful. Considering that a poster released ahead of a film is, along with a trailer, the only thing people are able to judge a film on, it's pretty important to put out a quality poster, otherwise you've cheapened the film's image.

Roland Emmerich is a hack. It's sad that anyone would think he's done anything worth a crap. I think the best response to one of his movies was in the X-Files movie, where Mulder is pissing on an ID4 poster in the alley. Froma directing standpoint, if Roland Emmerich were dropped off the Empire State building it wouldn't hurt my feelings.

...any particular reason you've switched from ellipses to hyphens? Or why you don't just write complete sentences with periods at the end instead. If you're willing to change your style, you may as well change it for the better, eh what? Oh, and Emmerich is a gay idiot who deserves director jail for bad-mouthing the King of the World!

Harry, how can you like this guy. A few of his films were OK. Godzilla was ripped off Jurassic Park. (God zilla was so bad, in Japan, Sony doesn't even count it as a Godzilla movie). And my 11 year old could write a better script than Moon 44. Helicopters in space?
