He's too "mainstream" now for the film geeks, he crossed over just a little too much. Success shouldn't be in the cards for someone funny, he's making too many people laugh. so now it'll be all about bashing him on these forums. What else is new?

"do people still watch this?" check.
"what SNL needs to do is.." check.

guess were just missing "more like saturday night dead!" and my personal favorite in any (and almost every)talkback: "why is this cool news? i dont care!" Now I've got "Indian" by Jon Bovi stuck in my head again.

I'm an Indian, on a cotton pony, I do not ride, unwanted... alive or dead!

so with BonBon Jovial and the Fog Biters on the same episode, they'll have two musical guests and no host? How does that work?

Hey big Dan, Prince was great, though he should have appeared on the prince show sketch. My three favorite musical moments from the last couple of years: Bjork, "Earth Intruders", the girl with the big tits and tight bra thrusting her chest behind Avril Lavigne and Aslee Simpson's second number, the lip-sync cue-up foul-up. That was awesome.

with Peter locked in a metal cell, they totally ripped that off from SNL's Dick-In-A-Box.

Because he was a Peter-In-A-Box, get it?

I've watched this show since the mid-'70s, listening to people gripe about how it's not funny anymore from the second season on. But really, now sad is it when Just'n freak'n T'mberlake is one of the years highlights?

= the full length 60 second version, not the edit - was one of the funnist things on TV this summer. If 30 Rock is that funny I'm going to start watching it. Now that it's not buried opposite Grey's Anatomy any more.

"Tina, your daughter called, she says it's octopus time." * "This is great." "Those are my divorce papers." "They're hilarious." * "No, the OTHER kind of German Shepherds." 'Oh, that makes more sense." *

And the casual way she hauls that fire extinguisher when she's told the writers room is on fire. Funny stuff.

Gotta say, 30 Rock is funny stuff

SNL usually does pretty well during election years. We know Poehler's got Hillary ... but I bet the begging Tim Meadows to come back to play Obama. However, I bet it'd be hilarious to have Lebron James join the cast full-time as Barack Obama. They don't have a good black comedian that can pull off Barack right now. Will Forte's got john Edwards ... Armisen as Guiliani. Bill Hader as Mitt Romney. Darrell Hammond as Joe Biden. Kristen Wiig as my love servant. .... yes! it will be good.
Wow. I like absolutely NONE of those people.

I know you're trying to illustrate your point of not liking Spoon, but you're obviously taking a relatively close-minded approach to it. Sure, Ga Ga Ga Ga may be a "lazy" title, but "Kill the Moonlight", "Gimme Fiction" and others aren't bad. Music, much like comedy, is obviously subjective. Just because you hate them and what they stand for doesn't mean they're bad.
I'm not arguing whether SNL is good or bad, just that..

..if I had a nickle for every time I hear/read someone say SNL isn't as good as it used to be, I'd be as rich as Lorne Michaels.

I'm dissapointed in the response Mr.West's performace last night has recieved. Giving the benifit of the doubt to my fellow talkbakers, I have well over 20 years of rap music memories, Mr. West was brilliant. He stutterd the second verse to a song that's message is 'Every thing I'm not has made me everything I am'. That alone should help put into prespective how personal this particular piece is. At any rate he stutterd, caught it on the VERY NEXT LINE and admitted he just blew his line on live television. Mr. West went on to 'freestyle' or improvise on the spot for the remaining 3/4's of the performance. He blended 'old-school' simple back-in-the-day raps with clever references to the snl cast, Lebron James and Jay-Z. He also managed to say "Hi" to his mother and father and also mentioned 'he'll probably never be let back on the SNL stage again' Mr.West is a very talented artist and was an accomplished producer before he ever 'picked-up the mic'. The ability to think on your toes and improvise 3/4's of your planned performance does in no way compare to Ashley Simpsons disaster and really is a great example of real live television. Mr. West's efforts to point out and avoid the trappings of hip hop have made him a easy target for people that dont understand the genre or just dont like black people. I for one have my diamond sign high in the air.
I miss those CELEBRITY JEOPARDY skits.

Those were absolute riots! Will Ferrell as a much-put-upon Alex Trebek, combined with a dead-on Darrel Hammond as a sneeringly witty Sean Connery, were comedy GOLD! "Craven Morehead", indeed!
Kanye West's performance was VERY GOOD!!!

He made an error and incorporated it into his rap. A brilliant recovery. To say that "he sucked" is just being unfair or perhaps his music is just not your thing which I completely understand. If I could rap half as well as he can, I would be very happy. GO KANYE, GO!!!

But making fun of the temper tantrums do not take away the doucheyness of them.

Sir, when one states one's opinion as fact on a talkback, one openes one's self-up to insults. While it would seem that we are the only two individuals on AICN that care about the topic, I would like to say that Mr. West by no means "sucks". In regards to your "have a good one" remark, please do not tell me what to do.
