You do know TSJA is intended for kids, right?

The next thing you know, we'll start seeing demands for a HANNAH MONTANA talkback.

that we need another Dr. Who spinoff after Torchwood. Although I enjoy the show it's gets a little thin after you get away from the central character of the Doctor.

is that Torchwood is for the grown-up Who fans to get a fix of more serious stories, while SJA is for the kiddies to get something that won't terrify or bore them.

That said, I'm sure there're grown-up Who fans who're interested enough that they'll be grateful for Herc putting this up, SpyGuy.

TSJA is the anti-Torchwood

Where Torchwood is meant to be the adult spin-off of Doctor Who, a show that kiddies aren't supposed to watch, but invariably do due to suitably relaxed parenting. TSJA is meant to be the kid's version that grown-ups aren't supposed to watch, but invariably do because we're all just big kids really.

For what it was TSJA was a good prog. Well made, well paced, fun. And the Slitheen, rubbish monsters in Doctor Who, were far better placed here. That is to say, farting is funny when used in the correct timeslot.

INWOsuxRED:DR.WHO is aimed at the family, not just kids

TORCHWOOD is intended for adults and older kids, DOCTOR WHO is intended for the entire family (kids and adults), and THE SARAH JANE ADVENTURES is intended for kids. It's not that hard, really.
Better than many episodes of Who

Hopefully now we've got a kids show they won't feel the need to go too kiddie in Doctor Who. Although I suppose season 3 was the least kiddie so far, even though it was full of shit episodes like '42' and 'The Lazarus Experiment'.

Actually the Beeb and Youtube have an agreement, so you can watch Who, Torchwood, TSJA and other Beeb shows on Youtube instead of paying through the nose for DVDs or waiting for them to pop up on Sci Fi or BBC America. So yes, it is legal. I wouldn't expect to ever see TSJA in the US, unless Canada picks it up and you can watch it over the border.
Trik_Ster: No *probably* about TORCHWOOD on Sci Fi

TORCHWOOD is already airing on BBC America, so Sci Fi *probably* wouldn't want sloppy seconds on a British import...or thirds if you count the original BBC transmission.

"Adult content" may not be an issue, however. The network did air LEXX and TRIPPING THE RIFT once upon a time, and Skiffy could simply chop out the more sensitive bits and insert more in-house commercials for their craptacular FLASH GORDON series.

We all know RTD is a pigs bollock. And the hideous Catherine Tate character needs to be kiiled horribly soon and replaced by Sally Sparrow from the "Blink" episode. RTD has sexualised The Doctor to the detriment of his true asexual alien character.
I'll second the Sally Sparrow request......

Not looking forward to missing season 4 of Who next year. Is Catherine Tate really going to be in every episode!!! It's not too late, change her role. Perhaps she could just play a mysterious stranger who appears in the background of every episode (but doesn't speak) then in the very last episode she reveals herself to be slightly important, but explains everything within 2 minutes. By doing this the Doctor would have no choice but to select one of the shows most promising companions-to-be, the one and only, Sally Sparrow. Oh, and they'd be room for Martha when she returns. Hate the Tate.
Yes Tate will be in all the season 4 episodes...

I think RTD is adopting a scorched earth policy. He's loving the cred he's getting for resurrecting the show, and doesn't want his successor to show that anyone else can do the job.

I mean, the characters and aliens RTD creates (and the script he writes) are sub-par, compared to the ones done by Moffat, for example. I'm sure that grates against RTD's enormous ego.

I thought Who was aimed at preteens while TSJA

Just watched her original Doctor Who swan song "The Hand of Fear" on dvd last night. The dvd has a great doc on the Sarah Jane Smith years of Who, plus some good archival footage of Elisabeth Sladen and Tom Baker on some random British kid call in show.

Doctor Who is still on because it's the best and longest running science-fiction programme in the history of the world, one of the 3 or 4 highest rated shows currently airing here in the UK and winner of BAFTAs and Hugos galore.
Can't argue with those stats, kwisatzhaderach.

Thankfully, Martha's coming back halfway through Series Four, so here's hoping the season finale ends with Donna being exterminated by Davros or the Rani or whoever the new Big Bad turns out to be. We really need someone else to bust on because all those Adric jokes became stale years ago.
