to be dissapointed by a Masters Of Horror episode. Just watched "Sounds Like" the other night and loved it. "The Washingtonians" was a bit silly but I had a blast. "Right To Die" was great...the husband dutifully wiping the dirt of his shoes before he went inside was great. The burnt up broad made that dude her bitch!! "Dreams In A Witchouse" gave me the wig. I could go on an on

I fear to say your standards for quality television must be low, like spinning core of the earth low. I suppose I bothered to watch about 10 episodes of the MoH series between both seasons, and motherfucker that's 10 hours of my life I'll never get back, to use that now very tired cliche of a "joke". Everything from the directing, writing and acting on down was ABYSMAL. The only thing that actually gives me a shred of encouraging hope for this thing NBC will do I suppose is that maybe "less is more" will end up working into more quality for network. That is, on more than one of the episodes it seemed to me they were being overly gory/blood for nothing more than the sake of itself. That line will obviously be drawn much further back for network primetime, so hopefully that'll force them to do something more creative with their practical effects crew.

Certainly won't be holding my breath, however.

Next summer on NBC. Some of the Masters: Len Wiseman, Renny Harlin, Paul WS. Anderson and they might even get Dr. Uwe Boll!

I didn't care for 90% of the episodes. I was expecting so much more. I hope this is better.

and found the Washingtonians hilarious! They shove that shit down your throat every field trip, so it was kind of nostalgic seeing this frow a skewed point... But I have to agree with the dissatisfied people here. THE MASTERS... OF... HORROR... DARE YOU TO WATCH!!! CRAP!!! I thought they were okay, but nowhere near scary. The "highlights" of both seasons were Cigarette Burns and Imprint while on the wacky side, Family and Washingtonians. But what about the ones that should have been aborted? Dream Cruise? The V Word? Dance of the Dead? Gay gay gay gay! Mature, right????

...my ass. With maybe one or two exceptions it's been nothing but amateurs, washout has-beens, or wannabees like Garris himself. The most masterful director to touch this series got his eppy relegated exclusively to DVD with no cable airing. So- this new crapfest- done by Garris and the boys, with lower enthusiasm (by now) and even more censored beyond Blowtime's "No Limits" or "Beyond Limits" or "Without Limits" or whatever the fuck that phoney dictum was? No thanks. "Fear Itself" can fuck off to obscurity.

Now that these masters are robbed of excess, they'll be forced to rely on, (gasp!)...innovative storytelling. Remember last season's FAMILY and THE BLACK CAT? Those were the most restrained episodes--and by far the best.

I would prefer some mature content but what ever. Doesn't it seem like the nudity and gore are not necessary for some of the masters of horrors. Last season watching the show was like, "insert torture scene here". Of course others like "Pelts" and "imprint" wouldnt be much without the excessive violence. Hey!!! WANNA SEE A GREAT SHORT HORROR FILM see below http://www.chillertv.com/Dare_ To_Direct/Video_Gallery/31681. shtml

In some way. That would be a good gimmick for the episodes.

Like in the first episode a skeleton in a wheelchair could be eating people. Just a thought.

How about a show called MASTERS OF MASTERS?

Masters of Horror: Season Three

This IS MoH: Season Three, basically. You see, Showtime declined picking them up for a third season and they couldn't work out a deal they were happy on with Anchor Bay. So Garris & Co. packed up and moved over to Lionsgate, who presumably will pay for 26 installments (2 seasons) for DVD release. Lionsgate also allowed them to go to whatever networks they wanted for TV rights. It seems that Garris has ended up setting it up at NBC and the show's name has changed. While part of me is disappointed that they episodes obviously won't be as extreme in nature (no nudity, no excessive gore) on regular network TV, it also means that the writers and directors will have to start focusing a lot more on suspense and storytelling..........than on shock value. I think a big part of the problem with both seasons (although to a lesser degree on the second) was that everyone involved seemed more concerned with shocking visuals and lack of censorship, than with actual storytelling or actually trying to be "scary". Hopefully now that some restrictions are in place, that will change. Also, I'd say many of the same directors will be approached. That and supposedly Lionsgate has requested that their stable of directors be hit up, so we'll likely see installments from Rob Zombie, Eli Roth, and others.

...so now weak stories phoned in by past masters, the vast majority of whom don't seem to give a rats ass about what they are making here, in episodes that have very little to redeem themselves outside of gore and nudity, won't even have the gore and nudity quotient to fall back on anymore. Yep, this seems utterly pointless. I predict four episodes to air before it gets pulled.
Wow, does this show blow...

or what? The first episode "The sacrifice" was trite and conventional, but the Landis directed episode was the biggest crock of shit I have ever seen on television. I created a username for this site just to get that off my chest. Did anyone even read the script before shooting?
