When PR people ask you to post this stuff, you should tell them about something called "backlash."

As in: "My readers will probably laugh at this and express a complete lack of interest in the show. This might undermine what you're trying to achieve."

Why would I want to watch a really well written/acted show for free? That's just outright silly, man.

The first season DVD set is a helluva deal btw. Got my wife hooked on the show and I'm looking forward to the new season.

Can't remember who mentioned it before but they nailed it when they said that this show might have "the finest trim" on television right now too.

Had no idea how much people hate this program! Thing I don't understand is why even bother to waste your time and comment on the talkback. weird. Personally, I think this is a pretty good port from book to film to TV. The cast is a little too pretty, but the show is well written, acted, shot and directed. My question: Living north of the boarder, why can't I access the link to the season premier. I get a message saying something like: "The content you are trying to view is not available in your reagion." WTF?!

Like Buffy, it's one of the few shows that is 100x better than the movie that spawned it. The characters are just so compelling and real. One of the best shows on TV.

Strangely enough, it remind me of Deadwood at times. There's just a very gritty, real feeling to it all.

Best new show of last season. Way better then the movie. And I liked Hero's (watched it all season), but in terms of quality it was better then Hero's. It really was the best new show of the season and critics loved it. Luckily NBC brought it back , even if it is on Friday nights. I don't really care about watching it online (though it's pretty cool we can) but give it a chance. You'll probably like it.
One FNL Criticism
by mjgtexas

The one negative thing I will say about the show is it is every bit idealistic about football as Studio 60 was about writers. Buzz Bissinger's orginal intent was to view a world where coaches make 100k while the veteran math teacher barely makes it past 30, assistant coaches in private called the black players niggers when they made mistakes, and where a community meets in a tax payer funder palace to watch kids run across a field...contrast that to the tv incarnation, as it plays like how football should be rather than the very grandiose enterprise it currently is...that said, I rank it right behind Lost as my favorite program. I suppose the trials of redneck youth is more digestible to stomach than snotty comedy writers.

My only complaint is Tyra/Landry storyline. I think it stretched the limits of reality that this show is usually good at recognizing. It would have been much more belivable had they called the cops. Otherwise a good start to the new season. And those whiners that won't watch if you paid them are probably just Studio 60 people still feeling bitter about their crappy show not making it past one season.

Yhea, instead of calling the cops for killing a rapist in self defense, go River's Edge and drag it out the entire season. Big mistake...but I still love Jesse Pleamons. He definitely should headline his own Apatow movie.

I love how people attack you if you dont like this show, assuming youre an idiot who only likes michael bay, or american idol, or other lowest-common-denominator stuff like that.

the truth is, i like a lot of shows, both highbrow and low. I just couldnt get into it. if other people enjoy it, more power to them, but for me it just didnt hold my interest.

sorry if that makes you all defensive. you may now resume pushing your opinions on everyone else, and criticizing them for pushing their opinions about the show... hypocrites.

Clearly some great performances in this episode, hopefully Emmy worthy next season. Connie Britton, Adrienne Palicki, Chandler and Landry's character all deserve praise. Not a big fan of Lyla's whole new angle. I do like the 'tough new coach' and I think Eric Taylor will come back very shortly and work under this coach as an assistant until this new coach gets fired or players rebel against him.

are all the stereotypical "living in your mother's basement, 40 year-old virgin" types apparently. you hate this show (probably without ever having seen it), because you hated high school, hated the quarterback and the head cheerleader (although you wanted to bang one of them), and never played a sport in your life. Get over it! This is a well acted, well made series about so much more than high school football. There's even a geeky smart kid for you to identify with. And yes, hotness abounds from the coaches jailbait daughter all the way to his smokin' wife. This show needs support, unless you'd prefer it be replaced with "Dancing with a fifth grader".
The show is fucking garbage.

I watched about th first ten episodes. I loved the book. I loved the movie. I love football. The TV show is shit. The book was a terrific expose of how how unhealthy the obsession with high school football can be in rural Texas but it also showed ho exhilirating it can be. The movie did a good job of capturing all that and Billy Bob gave one of his best performances as the coach. The TV show is just teen melodrama dogshit with no edge and barely any football. It's no different that ONE TREE HILL or THE OC once you get past the football gimmick. The worst part of the show is that saccharine, cutie pie romance between the saintly quarterback and the coach's obnoxious, frigid daughter. There is absolutely no chemistry between those two (I get a strong lesbo vibe from the actress who plays the daughter. Maybe that's why). I hate the wife too, for that matter. I basically hate the coach's whole family, including the coach. I want to see a show about football not some insipid family drama. I guess this show really appeals to 13 year old girls but as an adult male, it does nothing for me.
Neither the wife nor the daughter are hot.

The wife is old and fat and looks like she won't give head. There's something vaguely repellant about the daughter. I'm not sure what it is. I just get the sense that she's not into dudes. She pings my gaydar every time she's on screen.
Hmmmm.... yeah frigid 15 year old girls

often approach their overly shy boyfriends and say "I think we should have sex". Both Connie Britton and aimee Teegarden have lovely breasts. Napoleon, maybe you're more into the Kate moss type. Don't fear the bosom, man! They are your friends. If you want more football, watch football. There's always the NFL network.

hands down this is the best drama on television. anyone that's dismissing the show w/o actually watching a couple episodes is missing out and judging superficially just because it's a show that centers around high school football. i'll admit the concept doesn't exactly scream "geek" but shouldn't good writing and acting be something any geek worth his salt should appreciate?

I am one of those first ten posters.
1)I live in a very nice house of my own, thank you
2)...with my beautiful wife with whom I have plenty of sex
3) I have seen the show 4) I've played sports

Yet, as I already addressed in my post "Assumptions and Hypocrites" you make these snap judgments about me and lash out just because a show doesn't work for me. YOU, on the other hand, fill your posts with things like "hotness abounds", "jailbait daughter", "smokin wife", "lovely breasts" and "don't fear the bosom" as reasons the show is great. Who's the loser? I think it's obvious: zer0cool2k2

Are you afraid of breasts too (so much that you're repulsed by even the word on your computer screen?). I'll admit my defense of the show may be as much a "snap judgement' of a poster as "This show sucks" is of the show. Every show is not for every viewer, but that doesn't mean it "sucks". I'm sure there is a lot of quality programming (relatively speaking) that i never bother to watch. however, I don't make random posts about the poor-quality of a show, just because it's not one of my favorites. FNL is a well, made well acted, quality show> (Which I managed to mention in between my juvenile comments about the female anatomy). BTW, those comments were in response to Napoleon Dynamite's comments about two female characters on the show not "doing it" for him. An argument which I find stupid as a reason to hate a show. Ironically, Napoleon does at leastgive some reasons why the show doesn't work for him, as opposed to just saying, "This show blows donkey" or something to that effect. Were I writing a letter to the NY Times TV critic, I wouldn't use phrases such as "hotness abounds", but c'mon man this is Aint It Cool, so lighten up. BOOBS, BOOBS, BOOOOOOOBS!!!

Actually, no you aren't. If you hate the show then it doesn't work for you. If you love the show and it works for you, great. I love the show. I live in the midwest and played football as well as basketball and baseball. Just because I was active in high school doesn't mean that I don't know what I'm talking about. FNL is a show about life growing up in a small town and all the hardships that come with it. Yes, there is football. But football is used the same way that the mob is used in the Sopranos. The meat of the show is in the characters and their personal lives. Feel free to judge all you want but atleast give it a chance first.
Great, show, but the new ep worries me.

I didn't really like the premiere all that much. Tyra pulls into a cop station with the rapist right behind her, and doesn't yell at the cops at all. Once Landry killed the guy I got very nervous about where this show is headed. It has always been a little soapy, but that almost took it over the edge. Overall, it was kind of a depressing episode. Hopefully it will get better.
