sans Tarantino but it looked interesting but its hard to say it looked like a Miike film since all of his flicks are so different. I think Izo is his existential masterpiece and his best film to date. Its pretty amazing how many great films are being shown this year at La Biennale di Venezia. Wish I was there!

I loves me my miike. Can't wait! Post modern doesn't even begin to describe his eclectic films, and i'll agree that a lot is hit and miss, but hey, i'll see anything new he makes because chances are there is gold in there somewhere.
I'd love to see Tarantino and Miike get together...

for a Kill Bill prequel. Imagine a film about the DiVAS directed by Miike in the style of Ichi the Killer or Dead or Alive 2! That should happen.

Not sure how this remake will turn out, hopefully it's good. Just saw the original Django though. Not the greatest spaghetti western I've ever seen, but very good. I still prefer Death Rides a Horse and Companeros. And Sergio Leone is overrated.
Anyone seen Gozu?

Hate Miike. How a directors work can be so retarded, yet so BORING and can still become overrated is a mystery.

Why use a title in the guise of making a remake and then make a movie that's not really that close? I mean that's what it sounds like. And a lot of these supposed remakes seem to be doing the same thing. Just make your own movie with the homages included. Otherwise it seems like they're trying to sell you one thing and giving you something else.

As far as Miike goes, I've only seen Audition and Ichi the Killer. I guess they both were a bit much for me. And I just saw the original Django too. It was good but definitely overrated. But that Franco Nero was bee-ute-ee-ful. They really should just sterilize everyone else and clone him.

I love the scene where our guy has a conversation with a woman in a store, and he realizes she's been reading everything she says off writing on a wall. It's like David Lynch back when his movies were still fun.
I'll check it out

Miike is awesome but so is Tarantino. I immensely enjoyed every movie hes directed. But I agree that Fincher is the current King and Wook Park is not far behind.

He can be pretensious at times but overall I loved Pulp Fiction (minus the man rape stuff) Jackie Brown, Resevior Dogs and Kill Bill. As far as Miike goes, I think his cameo in Hostel said it all, the man has some love hate issues with women. In his movies they are either being cut up and tortured or they are they are psycho, sometimes both. You can put his shit in a pile next to Uwe Bolles as far as i'm concerned.
