Usually I'm a sucker for trailers, but there was way too much cheesiness and cgi gore for my tastes (how is it that we've actually regressed at filming gore since teh 80's? It definitely looks better than the script review from awhile back. It's nice that they're actually including the government and the army to an extent too, rather than some small town folks banding together. And yeah, I think that was the Predator Alien hybrid. That'll probably be to this movie what Spike was to Gremlins. Alos, it was pretty cool seeing the Predator actually killing people rather than having a weird level of sexual tension with them ala the last flick.

That's a great synopsis, however you forgot the Army's zombie-in-a-barrel program...one of those Army guys is bound to crack open one of those cannisters and unleash zombies wanting BRAIIIIIINS to eat. Then they see how big the Alien's brains are and go ballistic with glee. Predators can't get a heat lock on the zombies because they're already dead. Chaos and hilarity ensue. Straight-to-DVD sequel ordered up.

It looks like a cross between An Original Sci-Fi Channel Presentation and a Roger Corman Concorde production with a slightly higher (but maybe not) budget filmed in some Canadian forest preserve. There won't be an original idea the entire film. In Predator the government seems to know about the Predators and was obviously trying to get their techno gizmos. In the alien franchise - doesnt the company send Ripley and her crew there? Now I know it was based on a signal they recevied but possibly the government knows about the existence of ET out there and took the chance to get there hands on some Aliens for bio warfare. Makes alot of sense to me that possibly the Aliens and Preds both got to earth - I cant see why people have an issue with continuity ?

I'm looking forward to it. It better be hard R. And for the record, I didn't hate AVP. I hate some of the continuity problems it it, and the PG-13 crap, but I didn't find is as terrible as some people do. But what I really want is just another Alien picture, with or without Sigourney. I'd love to see Mr. Scott go back and cover some of the awesome stuff from the first film, the "Space Jockey" the question of the origin of the Aliens, etc. Oh, and not some sort of fucking an Alien remake! Yeah, I wouldn't be surprised, and they would probably Pg-13 it if they did, and try to get all suckers who are going to fall for the Escape From New York remake to support it. Fuck remakes. Fuck them to hell. Let's get moving with more original Alien films. This Alien v.s. Predator stuff is somewhat interesting, but I'd much rather see a new Alien film, or even a new predator film. Both series have so much potential and so much more possibilities that could be done.

MAYBE some Aliens will someday get to Earth, but only in a far, far future, when clone Ripley crashes the ship. And even so, its only a REMOTE possibility any of those fuckers survives. Oh, and pray for them to die, otherwise everybody in the future is fucked. Just like that. Aliens are unstoppable, they need only a single queen to overrun an entire planet. And the last encounter between a human and a Predator took place in 1997. We're still waiting for upcoming development regarding that event. Again: the last Predator seen in action in this planet attacked Los Angeles ten years ago (what a wonderful time it would be for a Predator 3 right now). Predators prefer warm weather, they DO NOT HUNT IN ICE PYRAMIDS. Oh, and also, PREDATORS AREN'T FUCKING PUSSIES. So, can we all agree? Mark my words, much of what you see in this "red band" trailer will likely be excised when the final say is said. The studio won't go for an 'R' on a "franchise" movie like this. There are a lot of things you can also tell from the ad: the characters will start with guns, but won't keep them for very long. There will be a LOT of running away. The fight scenes you're looking at in this ad constitute the last five to ten minutes of the movie. Creatures land in spacecraft (5 minutes). Meet the locals in town. (20 minutes), with some shots of the aliens crawling around getting their act together. A few people like random townsfolk will die bloodlessly, offscreen, or it will be so comically overdone as to be ridiculous. By the 40 minute mark, there will be the first big confrontation with the Aliens and the Predators, but the military or the civilian hunters will break it up and force them into bloodless hiding for much of the picture. Then, when the military shows up, the Predators will be attracted by the big guns and the ALiens will be attracted by the Predators, but we'll still get twenty more minutes of people standing around saying "If we stay here, we'll die!" and "I'm in charge of this operation, Kinkaid!" Following that will be about five to ten minutes of what you see in this ad, which will be butchered by the MPAA. After that, you'll get a little coda with one of those "They'll all be back!" big shots. Roll the Credits, get depressed at another studio lie.

I don't think anyone could legitimately watch _this_ trailer and say that it is definitely going to be some de-balled POS. I counted (because I am a nerd) at least 14 humans killed just in the trailer. Head shots, spiked tails through torsos, skinless corpses hanging from trees, that chick who gets fucking Krull-ed to the wall, acid blood dripping down onto a man's unprotected face, and much more! I haven't even mentioned the shot of a predator taking out two human douchebags at once, which is one of the sickest things I've ever dreamed of a predator doing. They clearly shot this film so that you COULD NOT de-ball the thing without making it incomprehensible. I realize, of course, that all those exploding heads and green blood do not a good movie make, but they certainly do pass the time.

This trailer kicked my ass. all the blood, gore, and scares that came with the best moments of both alien and predator filmms look like they are present in this movie. Some people, ok, most people's comments are complaining about lack of narrative and shit. Well, honestly, this is the first trailer for this movie, first trailers are often teaser's anyways. Besides, i believe their purpose here was to show just how different it is from Paul W.einer S.ucking Anderson's pussyfest film. This is evident in all of the holy-shit action presented throughout. That time could have been used for conveying their narrative choices, but c'mon, we want to see the aliens and predators fuck shit up as soon as possible. I remember reading that the idea for this movie was to go with the suspense and hardcore action that was found in the prime of both franchises. So, in a way this movie could also be considered a tribute to the classics, without much effort to expand on certain aspects of them the way Cameron did with Aliens. Anywyas, i'm excited as hell. Its not too often that sinking franchises can still make a comeback like this. Then again, the movie's not out yet. I could be full of shit, but hell what can i say, Aliens and predators are back where they should be; in a rated R no-holds-barred suspense/horror/action flick.

In fact, one of my favorite films of all time is Alien 3. Just had to join in since I'm a lover of both franchises. FIRST- AvP was disappointing, but still not as bad as most crap. SECOND- Ridged-headed Aliens are scary too, and the smooth ones look like f-ing bananas (I hope they establish exactly why they look different though e.g. they're more mature) THIRD- Trailer was awesome. Yeah, I know its not original (it's a sequel, y'know) but this looked like fucking Aliens and Predator 2 playing on the same screen together. FOURTH- Predator 2 was better than Predator. Sorry, get over it. Predator was just Alien meets Rambo. FIFTH- Not sold on the 'hybrid' just yet, but it's still early. By the way, hybrid really isn't a good word for it; technically all the Aliens are hybrids, coming from human or canine hosts. SIXTH- Yeah, I get a bit of a zombie vibe, but that's just the apocalyptic urban setting. SEVENTH- Weyland-Yutani _must_ have known about the Aliens in advance, or else they wouldn't have been able to assign an android to the Nostromo to ensure the mission before the warning beacon was found. So maybe the Company is involved with this movie and helps cover it all up.

i can see you are joking, but, from my point of view, the original Alien movies, all the way up to Jeunet's beautiful Europeanesque Resurrection, I consider to be true FILMS, real artistic visions. AVP and probably the same with AVP2, I consider to be comic book movies, or video game movies. Flicks that can only rank so high in the ladder of what is filmmaking. And it is because of their different classification, that I feel they do not exist in the same world as the original Alien films, at least in the sense that Tim Burton's Batman does not exist in the same world as Nolan's Batman, even though some of the same rules (not all but some) apply.

I don't mind modern day Earth as a setting (at least, not from what I've seen), but why does everyone insist that space would be expensive? Wasn't the budget for Aliens like $16 million? Yeah, I know, inflation whatever... But I still think it's sad that filmmakers don't seem to know how to make a movie today besides throwing a whole lot of money at it. Damn near every part of Aliens still holds up visually today, and there are cutting edge films from the last decade that can't make that claim anymore. But anyway, as has been said, this movie needs to be good, and it needs to make massive money, and then we'll get our space-epic. Jesus, what a snooze. Movies are now aimed at 12 year olds who want everything to be "badass" but can't do a push-up. The franchise has obviously tanked because it followed the mold of Aliens as opposed to the original, but really, how many times is seeing an alien's head blow up cool? The original Alien was a science fiction film with horror; now these are all just action films with horror. This looks just like Resident Evil looks just like Event Horizon looks just like Transformers, nothing thought out for the world of the story, just piles of corpses. Yes, I know I'm an old fart, hand me my custard and back off you whippersnappers, but damnit, these glued-together cliche collections are such a frickin SNORE. Why even be interested in a genre which is squarely about kids buying statuettes--oh, sorry, maquettes or whatever--who don't play sports, don't read books they're not assigned, don't go through all the stupid but necessary growth experiences anymore? Perpetual adolescents who groove on gore and stereotype, and yes, nurse, I know it's time for my meds, but I wanna finish this, it's not important to anyone but me, but... You're right, why bother? I like Predator and Aliens. I'm not a big fan of any of the other movies in either series. That includes AVP. This to me looks like what they're doing to The Incredible Hulk. Apparently there's only one Predator in the whole film, which judging by the trailer means the Aliens are going to be rather unfairly treated as basic cannon fodder. I'd prefer they were given more credit than just being slobbering monsters like they were in Resurrection and AVP1. I think the discovery in Aliens that they knew how to cut the power and find hidden routes into the complex was just as important as finding out about the queen as it shows they aren't just stupid creatures. Having a lone Predator killing loads of Aliens left and right will just make them less scary and dangerous in my eyes. Still, it's nice to see Reiko Aylesworth again. She's a much better Ripley substitute that Sanaa Latham.

The more I think about AVP, the more I'm in love with Alien 3 and Ressurrection... never had any issues with Predator 2, I love that movie, only not as much as the first one. I hope this piece of shit bombs at box office, so maybe in like 5-10 years from now we might get something (CUARON for The Hobbit '11) worthy out of those classic sci-fi mythos. No reboot crap, a true sequel (in fact, I'd outlined a story for Predator 3, if this talkback goes on a little bit more I might post some of it.)

Here's to hoping that AvsP2 does both series some justice. By the way I just read the latest book with the Ripley, Call, Johnner ARC and it was decent. I think it would make a great springboard for the next feature in the Alien franchise.
