For the most part, all of the Friday the 13th comic attempts, have done a poor job at capturing the essence of what makes the movies entertaining. But I have to hand it to DC/Wildstorm, both the 6 issue mini series and the two part Pamela's Tale have been really well done. At least someone has finally realized that, it isn't the "kills only" that make the story great, it's having a great story.

I'd given up on this one over a year ago, but what the hell, I'll pick it up anyway... and it's not really a "Noah’s Ark", it's a prisoner transport I believe.

....because he knew the skrulls were taking over the world and he needed someone allies in the underground movement against the invasion. This will be Marvels get-out-of-jail-free card for Civil War.... the return of Cap, legal non-gov heroes, the remasking of spiderman, and the dedouching of Iron Man.

it's the invaders cap/time travel. Reading Civil War again, it shows me how Captain America is more Superman than Superman is.

And it will be revealed that he has been so since before his marriage to Mary Jane. So the REAL Spidey's in suspended animation on a Skrull ship, and he comes back and he's 10 years younger than Skrull Spidey.

Naw, they'd never tell us that more than a decade of Spider-Man stories actually featured a character that wasn't the original Spider-Man and expect us to swallow it...

some constructive critism, at times it seems you're trying to mimic some of the other @ssholes too much, discover your own voice, you're a good reviwer, I thought your cheap shot was an excellent bit of reviewing. I know the @ssholes have a reputation for being funny, or at least tyring to be huckhuckhuck, so maybe try some different things out.

So good! Terror was great in Robert Kirkman Team-Up. His own book back in the 90's was ok, a little gritty but it follows the same lines as this new mini-series so fans of this new series might want to rescue some of older ones from the .25 bin.

Morrison used them in an early JLA involving Starro, and they were later used in JSA for Hector Hall.

Not that y'all care about my angst, but comics have just not been doing it for me lately. Many of my favs are flat out sucking right now. Outsiders- these Five-of-a-Kind one shots have sucked sooooooo bad. Nightwing-whineybutt, enough crying Mr. Sensitive. Teen Titans- A friggin mess. Avengers- Spider-Man=whineybutt, Ironman is a douche, too many mighty thought baloons. Powers-GET ON WITH IT!!!! talk about slow! How many more cartoons fucking panels do i need to see! Walking Dead, once fresh now zzzz zzzz zzzz, where was I? Fables-hmm starting to bore me some now, but OK. So what do I have left? Invincible, Cap sans Cap, JSA and JLA (although enough with the hero observation style crap, it's issue 12!). Sorry for the run on, but I feel like my passion for comics is dying! I barely wan't to go pick up books! Damn you JQ and DD!

Every couple of weeks I find myself trimming down my pull-list. On top of that, my weekly stack of three or four comics sits around unread for days now. Sadly it's not that I don't have time to read them at night, it's just the apathy I feel for them. I just dropped Walking Dead a few weeks ago... I just didn't give a shit anymore.

Also, if I'm not mistaken, there was an early issue of Sandman that featured both Constantine and the Martian Manhunter, or maybe it was two issues close together. I'm not near my longboxes, so I don't know for sure.

And it's good??!! It seems just a few months ago that people were telling me DC killed off Booster and yup it was as permanent as permanent gets. I debated putting The Imortal Iron Fist in my rant. I've ben reading it and it's good so far, but I'm dubious that it can make a long haul. BTW, It's a bit sad when the great comic of the month is f-ing BOOSTER GOLD!!!!!! Walking Dead has done the overwritten and unatural character interactions to death (no pun intended). It's getting like Lost. Doesn't anyone EVER speculate on ho wthese zombies were made? Wouldn't people want to find out? Wouldn't they want to find a way to stop it? I sure would. The story has become a big mope.

Just read the latest ASM. What crappy stories. Just horrible. How about a full year dedicated to good old fashioned Spidey stories with no "MEGA PLOTS" or "LIFE TURNING EVENTS?" That would be an event...not having one....just Spidey kicking villian's asses and stopping a bank robbery or something. Sheesh!!!

Booster Casting
by Ambush Bug
Aug 22nd, 2007
06:37:04 PM
Actually I always thought Owen Wilson would've been a perfect Booster with Luke playing Blue Beetle. But that was long ago when these guys weren't such big names. I would go with Eric Christian Olsen from best known as the guy who played Jim Carrey's part in DUMB AND DUMBERER: WHEN HARRY MET LLOYD and recently seen as one of the Germans in BEERFEST. Still, I'd go with Matt Dillon or Nicky Katt as Guy Gardner.

I could see him (Olsen). Honestly, and people may hate this, but i have always kinda pictured Paul Walker. Yeah..he is like this generations' keanu, but he has the look, the build, and i could see him playing a total cocky ass, yet a badass at the same time.

Sin: Look, big sister: CHARIZARD -- third evolve of Charmander. Attacks with flamethrower, seismic toss or hyper-beam.

I think Eckhart's class would be great for Booster's PR side. As for those thinking he'd be a good Cap? What they hay are you smoking?

And Matt Dillon as Guy? I could see it, personality-wise, but he's gotta have that whole Irish redhead tough thing going.. Dillon's way too slim for that..

And jojo, without all the emo-dancing too, huh? Thank goodness Booster's too preppy for that.

I love, and am glad to see the appreciation for, Friday the 13th comic and Checkmate.

The Booster Gold review and comments are ALMOST enough to get me on board, having been a huge JLI, Blue&Gold fan. But the 52 arc really turned me off to this character and now I have no interest in him.

Someone more arrogant than Aaron Eckhardt? Does such a man exist? He always plays jerks, very convincingly. So convincingly that it's hard for me to think he is not a jerk in reality. One thing he definitely is in reality: Box Office Poison. Not that a Booster Gold movie would ever be made (And Paul Walker would be good if such were to occur).

Captain America is becoming a movie? Well, THERE is some difficult casting. Really difficult, probably best to go with an unknown.

Not exactly the spitting image for the role but I'd go with Kevin Dillon. Best part of Entourage. If there's a flaw it might be that Booster is too similar to Johnny Drama: former success turned arrogant wannabe but who also has a very human side.

Just saying...

Okay, I bought Hard Boiled this weekend. Now my Frank Miller collection is a lot more complete, and more respectable as well, I think. But I got to thinking, if you could have any writers complete library, who would it be? I picked Grant Morrison. Brian K. Vaughan was my first choice, but his repetoire isn't as big, and I've already got most of it.

I vote for Garth Ennis.
