According to wikipedia anyways... "Donkey Kong also featured a kill screen in the 22nd stage, the 117th screen. This is an example of a kill screen that is not due to an integer overflow, but rather oversight on the part of the designers. The amount of time allowed for any given screen is determined algorithmically during play, decreasing slowly as the player progresses. By the time the player reaches the 117th screen, there is simply not enough time for the screen to be completed."

That movie rocked. I don't know why I think of that film when I think of this film. Maybe it's because they had to play that video game and they were all geeking out on it.

That's a lot, dummy. One of the things about King of Kong was not knowing if Weibe breaks the record, and in fact every publication I have read gave a spoiler warning about the ending. Believe it or not, who holds the donkey kong record is NOT common knowledge, so that would have been a surprise. So thanks for that.

Oh and while I am at it, thanks again for spoiling planet of the apes several years ago. You may recall that you had this big rant about how Matt Drudge spoiled the ending of the movie- only he didnt, YOU did! You see, when I went to his page that one day, I didnt understand what I was seeing because he didnt have it blazed across the screen. You however, gave it words and context. I am still mad at you about that.

I really didn't want to know the outcome, but I guess there's no way to avoid it if you are going to announce an appearance by Weibe. Well what he SHOULD have said is "Special appearance by Steve Weibe" and left it at that.

But noooooo... well whatever, i'm sure I will like the movie regardless.

The referee in the film repeatedly mispronounces his name as "Weeb", and Harry repeatedly refers to him as "Steve Weibe". Maybe Steve WIEBE should form a misspelled name support group with Seth ROGEN.

Must not have read ANY OTHER PRESS about this movie. Every article/review I've read about this film has "given away the ending". I've known the outcome of this thing for weeks. In fact, it has been talked about so openly that I didn't even realize that it was being kept a secret by anyone. But really, even if it was - how surprising is it that the good guy wins? Really?

Oh and Cotton - Why are you still mad over Harry spoiling Planet of the Apes. You should have been happy that you didn't have to sit through that entire abomination just to find out the "twist". Harry freed you up to walk out of that piece of crap as soon as you realized that it was going to be total ass. By giving you the end of that movie Harry gave you a gift. If you didn't take advantage of that gift then that is your problem. That being said, yes Harry and all his accidental spoilers really do suck ass. I've had more than a couple films ruined for me here at aicn, so I do feel your pain - just not on this particular occasion.

Thanks for providing me with easy outs on virtually any TB. We've always had, "Didn't you see the spoiler tag?" but that has now been followed up by the smash hit, "You should be thankful!" as well as the number one chart topper, "Were you surprised of the outcome, really?" Keep striving for excellence and soon, no one who dares tread TB will ever have to see another movie ever again. Not that it helped with Transformers. Were there any dick jokes in this?

...it's a documentary!...something based on factual events, something that's happened in the past. If you're the kind of person interested in seeing this film (it's hardly mainstream) then you should know about its combatants and the outcome. I think the guys above who are squealing about spoilers aren’t really concerned about the film but are just looking for another transparent reason to bash Harry and his site – ffs!...stop coming here if you’re that offended/jealous of the guy, it’s simple….besides it’d mean the 95% of sane people who read this site won’t be subjected to your tripe – it gets old real quick and just makes you out to be a….well a tit. And as for those who have a legitimate spoiler grudge then consider the small percentage of f*ck up’s that Harry and the guys make considering the vast quantities of films they either review or comment on….maybe less than 1%?....that’s a pretty good ‘f*ck up’ ratio in my opinion.

some people want to learn about the combatants and the outcome THROUGH watching the movie. What would be the point of watching a documentary that you knew everything about before you even stepped into the theater? Why would the movie even be structured as a competition between two people, if revealing the outcome of their competition had no significance?

A Documentary (or feature film) being based on historical events does not mean that everyone even remotely interested in seeing it will be intimately familiar with the events it is based on. Just because these events CAN be googled by curious parties does not mean that they MUST be. And as for Fictionalized historical dramas, well obviously there can be surprises galore, other than the event in question (Hitler's botched assassination, the sinking of the Titanic, etc), so there is plenty to be spoiled. Quit being such know-it-all douchebags. As though either of you knew before a couple months ago who the fuck held the world Donkey Kong record?!

I think you're missing the point - firstly Harry didn't give away the ending, secondly my grievance was for those people that automatically jump on any chance to slag off Harry and the other hard workers at AICN. Maybe I'm too much of computer game nerd (having worked in the industry for over 15 years) and assume that anyone who remembers DK and has a desire to see this film knows about this stuff - in which case my mistake. Just that I can't see anyone watching this film that doesn't know about these guys and their history....I mean come on!....you're geeks after all! ;)

...not knowing the ending. I had read a little about Weibe and Mitchell before seeing it, but I didn't pay close enough attention to remember who was the "hero," who was the "villain," and who held the record. Thus, I'm glad I wasn't spoiled. Spoiler complaints are applicable, because that ending was a great emotional payoff. That said, I'm distraught to find out that Mitchell has the record back.

My humblest apologies, good internet traveller! Your use of the term "F*ck" in your recent post should have alerted me to your gentle nature. Your use of the term "Whinging"(sic) should have alerted me to your apparent non-American nature, thus explaining the thin-skinned-ness. Your follow-up post, documenting the sexual escapades of me and my immediate family, did indeed prove my initial assertion, that you are a know-it-all Douche Bag, to be completely false, so please accept my apologies.

Maybe I'm in the minority but as a pure quarter-arcade game kid, I never saw the appeal of Donkey Kong. And now that Nintendo is STILL making games with freakin Mario in them (hello??!?!? it's been decades! come up with something new already jackasses!)...I still don't get it. Super Mario Bros. was a fun and addicting game on Nintendo sure but the original stand-up arcade was boring to me. Give me Tempest, Phoenix, Super-Contra, Lifeforce, etc...you can keep Donkey Kong! (thank the godz for MAME!)
