bought the vol. I DVD and sat throught he first two episodes, didn't grab me in the least...maybe I'll watch the other eps and have a change of heart...doubt it. Brave Story, just finished this yesterday (the novel...finished the PSP game on Sunday)...it is excellent, kind of a post modern Narnia, highly recommended.

But kinda becomes lacklustre towards the end I suppose. There's supposed to be some OVA though that may be a continuation, so we'll see...

would likely get you some blank stares. It should be pronounced "mahn-ko" ("ma" as in "mama"). The Japanese tend to be rather "clean" when speaking and don't really use "vulgar" words even when they're angry or in a sexual situation. My advice would be not to say it - even infront of your Japanese friends.
So what does mahn-ko mean?

For the answer, I refer you to the subject line of DerLanghaarige's post. It's highly unlikely you'll ever come across it in mainstream Japanese movies, TV, literature, manga, anime or conversation which is sort of why I don't recommend ever using it yourself... culture and standards are really not quite the same as what you'd experience in the West.
