I completely agree with everything Joey Pants says. It also makes sense that it is getting pushed back. August is a busy month for teen comedies and there are better ones out there like "Superbad" and "Rocket Science." I saw this a few weeks ago and while I couldn't say it was bad, it was all too familiar of so many other films. The performances of Yelchin, Davis, and RDj were good, but the movie didn't support them enough. Joey mentions that Hope Davis' character has problems of her own. That goes without saying in the film, but I have no idea what those problems really were because they just used her as a punchline rather than giving her something real to work with. which normally wouldnt be a bad thing, but if its trying to rip it off...plus if its quirky character dramaedys your looking for try Hallam Foe....in the mean time, bring on The Darjeeling Limited!

Thanks for the positive words, Bungion Boy - In retrospect, I do agree with the idea that Hope Davis' character's problems are more alluded to than actually fleshed out. It would've been nice to get some substance with her mental problems, but alas, this is another area where the movie stumbles a bit. I got a good laugh because I love the screams of "PLANT!" in this thread - when I couldn't possibly be anything farther from one. This is actually the first advance screening of a movie I've been to since "Mean Girls" (a movie which I swore I would only see if it was for free, and it ended up being pretty damn good), and this is the first review I've written for AICN. I think people need to properly be told what a "plant" really is - and that's someone that is more likely to give the movie 5 stars, as opposed to 2.5, which implies that the movie is very sub-par, which it is. Just sayin.

Both were uneven drug themed teen movies, riddled with indie cliches. And the parts written for the grown ups took away too much time from the kids.
