I actually think I read about it in the Austin American-Statesman in '97. Something about how the guy who wanted to make it had no money and the only asset the production had was a van, but he was hoping to release Fanboys before Phantom Menace came out.
Great film

I was at celebration europe and saw this. Loved every minute. Great cameos from people like kevin smith, ray park, a certain trek actor :) Only sad thing is looks like people are knocking it back already before they even seen it. Hank have you seen any of this film?
Saw the cast and clips at Comic-Con . . .

and I have to say it all looked pretty damn funny. The director, who came off extremely humble, said that they are still doing some shooting because they finally have the money to make the movie they've wanted too from the start. It's certainly an unusual way to go about shooting a movie but there were a lot of clips and they looked great. A lot of direct references to the original Star Wars. The great thing was that Lucas and crew are fully embracing this film. Also, Kirsten Bell was there and she is as charming, funny, witty, beautiful etc. in person as she is on Veronica Mars.
Kristen Bell in slave outfit!!!

If they would sell the tickets I would buy one at this moment.
The last release date I know of for Fanboys? 1/18/08.

I kid you not. And Kristen Bell deserves a lot better than to be a stinking voiceover on The O.C. East Coast (aka Gossip Girl).

*pictures a 500-foot KB all Slusho'd up having her way with Manhattan* :D

Newman might as well keep directing Fanboys reshoots

...because his Revenge Of The Nerds debacle was so damaging to his career that he'll never get to direct a Hollywood movie again.
I saw it, it was fucking horrible

...If you are referring to hatespeech, I don't know. If You are referring to Darth Withnail. He did indeed see the film. How do I know - not that I can prove it, but what the hell, I know the truth - I was with him at Celebration Europe. I was with him when he composed the e mail. I was Withnails intention to NOT spoil the film. He simply does not believe in it. What has really pissed me off is that it has taken this site nearly three weeks since the email was sent to actually get around to posting Withnail's review. Ah fuck it, I know that this film is excellent, and I was one of the lucky 2000 to be told in person we the FIRST IN THE WORLD (at the time at least) to see the film in anywhere near a state that resembled a cohesive cut
Oh an another thing...

...anyone thinking of posting some smart Alec remark about oh, defending his fellow geek, it's a little more personal than that - the dude is my brother - in the very literal sense. Yes, he can fight his own battles, but I'm pretty underwhelmed that no-one seems to be interested in this flick. Trust me, you WILL be missing out on a great movie. Other tidbits to prove I was there - Kyle Newman stated that Rick McCallum had shot a scene for the film (not present in this cut) and that he's trying to get Mark Hamill involved too. But..feel free to take the piss. I KNOW I was there, just wish I could really prove it. Ah...the shortcomings of the Internet - where people bash and disbelieve. Ain't it cool? You bet!
