Those millions of us readers NOT living in Los Angeles can go ahead and skip this article and/or bitch about the lucky few that can go see it.
Why the hell would anyone want to do that?

AFRO SAMURAI is the incestuous Downs Syndrome baby of SAMURAI CHAMPLOO and NINJA SCROLL. Yeah, yeah, the AFRO SAMURAI comic predates CHAMPLOO by a few years. I don't give a fuck - AFRO SAMURAI, or rather, what I saw of it, was just painful, like some cheesy ghetto knockoff DRAGONBALL Z shirt come to life, in stark contrast to SAMURAI CHAMPLOO, which could be as sublime or as crass as needed at any given moment. Also, all due respect to RZA's accomplishments, but the CHAMPLOO score totally blows away the second-tier RZA beats on AFRO SAMURAI. I realise this program has its admirers (and to be fair it is technically well made), but I just can't justify watching this when I could be watching CHAMPLOO instead. If I need a hip-hop samurai fix, I'll reach for the top shelf stuff instead of the watered down off-brand in the plastic bottle.

on a film festival in Germany this spring. With all the guys responsible for this flick attending... its awfull drawn..it sucks and its boring. There was nothing cool in it...okay okay...samuel jackson is voicing afro samurai big deal...but since he has like.....a handfull sentences to say its not even worth mentioning. Seriously..it sucks.
Seen it, liked it, bought the DVD

Would like to see it on the big screen. I think the idea of tormenting a hero by stealing his memories and using his past to attack him is an original one. Though I haven't heard of Champloo so it may do the same thing and TimMighty? Jackson voices Afro and his side-kick doesn't he? Sounds like him.

The first four episodes are solid revenge stories, but then the final episode denegrates into pseudo-psychedelic nonsense best left to comics written by an acid-tripping Grant Morrison. Still, all this discussion makes me want to pop in the DVD and kick back with a nice glass of lemonade...
disappointing and uninspired

I agree, Samurai Camploo is much more creative in design, characters and story. I deleted it from my Tivo list after the 3rd episode.
shit...I thought you meant a live action version.

...then you'd know the Aero Theater is and its in Santa Monica, California. Both events are taking place there. Why be redundant when all you have to do is read?

if we HAVEN'T read the article on Harlan Ellison.... you could just put in the words "Santa Monica CA" after the words "Aero Theater".

Really it's only about 13 extra characters. Not including spaces. You may as well have said, "Wanna see Afro Samurai at the place I mention in a different article?"
