The DC Universe. Hope they don't drop the ball again and tarnish yet another DCU character. Maybe Savage is actually a time traveler and accidently found a worm hole in 25K BC. Transported to the future he had access to a time machine (think Voyagers TV show -- yeah that was greatness) and now is doing a stint in Metropolis. Or even worse. He reincarnates himself. We know Smallvill can't actually follow a Comic based storyline without adding a dumbing down and absolute altering of the character to the point of being unrecognizalbe from their original concept. How is Mxy by the way?

Reb Brown? Anyone ever see that movie with Reb Brown & Lou Ferrigno? Ferrigno took one to the head in 'Nam and became a "hulking" little child who liked the wrestling. And the baddies stole Lou to participate in illegal street fighting. And Reb went to save the day. good stuff.

You are talking about the Cage. Only reason I watched it cause Captian America and The Hulk were in the same movie. Did you ever see part II, Shannon Lee was in it (Bruces Daughter, Brandons Sis).. Came out like a year after Brandon died. So with them 3 in it, I had to watch it, even though I dind think much of the movies.

Wouldn't mind watching Reb on one of these feel good teenie "superhero" shows go medieval on someone. I'm assuming Reb is still around and in decent shape of course.

by Drath

Brainiac, one of the biggest villains in Superman's rogues gallery, was a set up for Zod, a nothing character turned into something for the WB movies? Not that I dislike Zod, but Brainiac ought to have been in more of the show. Also this show stinks until they bring in costumes (real ones, not fucking hoods with sunglasses). Also, Clark not flying is lame. So is bitching about a show that I barely watch. Hey, so long as it's tooted as the best of Superman, I'll say what I want.

They all actually DO watch the show, but are — for some reason — so scared for being seen as fans of such "trite, melodramatic nonsense" that they feel the need to dis it, while they anxiously wait for the new season to start.

I, for one, love Smallville. True, some parts of it suck (mostly that annoying skank Chloe and the fact that EVERYONE knows what adult Clark Kent looks like without glasses... apparently requiring Kent to, at some point, amnesia-kiss everyone in Metropolis and Smallville before he officially becomes Superman)... long digression... BUT, it easily has the BEST special effects of ANY superhero show I've seen on television, making it a constant joy to watch. Especially when the TV versions of Green Arrow, Aquaman and other DC staples just happen to wander into town for whatever reason.

Plus, it also EASILY has THE BEST Lex Luthor shown on screen so far, FINALLY giving us a screwed up, homicidal genius who actually has serious plans for world domination that DON'T simply involve some asinine land scheme to make the next "Club Med".

Oh, PLUS the fact that, despite her annoyingness, Lana Lang is REALLY hot. Even her detractors know it to be true...

OK, Xiphos. Here's your irony change.

So Clark was what 15 when the show began? Although he looked 25. And the show has been going for 7 seasons, so that makes Clark 22 right? So why is he still arsing about in Smallville with no flying ability, I think he would ahve become Superman by now, how long can they go on wih this before Superman appears, and why is Calrk so bad at fighting, hes fucking Superman for christs sake. I liked this show when it began for first couple of years, but now its absiolutely toxic, the same shit happens every year in the same order, they have zero imagination with their writing, the acting is deplorable at times (Except Lionel Luther) Lex used to be really complicated and interesting, now he is juts boring, this show needs to change to Superman soon, or just end, Smallvile and its small world is too boring, and how come everybody he knows in Metropolis in later life, all started in Smallville at soem point, its ridiculous. Oh and the comic book writers I think had Metropolis as NYC not Kansas city, dumbasses. I still watch this as the 6th Serioes has just started in the UK and there is nothing else to watch on a Sunday night, now LOst and 24 are finished, Bit this show needs to learn a little from Heroes, much bettre show by a country mile.

Why even bother to click on the link and read about the show in the first place??" Let me explain when Superman Returns came out, proper superman fans had to put up with all the stupid fucking posts from smallville fans complaining that the plank from Cheaper by the Dozen wasnt playing Superman. So sit back shut up and let me finish! The consensus seems to be that although the producers of Smallville can talk up what they are doing, by name dropping and referring to different comic book era's and classic story arc's. They still manage to fuck it up! How this program ended up lasting so long is beyond me, Superman the early years, jesus christ he's taking his time growing up! Im pleased lost had the balls to say this is where we are going and this is how long it will take! With Smallville I think if they keep going the way they are the only tights clark is going to be putting on are the ones to help with his circulation when he's sitting in th retirment home playing brige with all the rest of the JLA lite!!

I watch the show because there is nothing else to watch at that time, and I have fuck all else to do, and I really love the Superman films, the first time I heard the music on SV I was like ...Yeah here we go, then nothing. I dont really like it, but it is watchable, I do F Forward through some episodes and parts, but I would love someone else to come in and start it again, because it could have been so good, and it is actually pretty lame, good SFX yes, but story wise and acting it is very "Super 90210" which is to get young american audiences watcing it I suppose, it has not worked. I actually like Chloe better than Lana, everyone I know who has ever watched that show has said to me they would love Lana Lang to die, she is such an annoying character and the whole Clark and her thing has went on far too long, I mean we know they dont get together ion the end anyway, so why keep playing the will they wont they game, bump her off and concentrate on Lois Lane (Who's blonde?????) Lex was the best version of Lex I had seen a few seasons ago, That was my only dissapointment of the S Returnms film, Lex was too Gene Hackman, although had more bite than him. But Lex in smallville the last 2 years has been ruined for me, he is now a joke character, and the whole Lana thing, Zod thing was done very badly. Thats why I say its time to warp things up or just move them along a a greater pace. Green arrow, Flash etc, they should pop up...Once he is fucking Superman, not while he is arsing about in Smallville, they should all be kicking ass in Metropolis, and Supes should be so much harder than all of them i.e. Cyborg could be crushed by Superman with one hand, its just metal. Falsh could not utrun Superman, cos Supes can fly to China in seconds. Plus you know the only reason they have denied Clark his flying (Supermans most recognisable trait) is because they dont have the SFX budget to do it more than once a season. Thats my beef with it, I am not a hater, niot just hear to trash a show I dont watch, but I also dont secretly love it and just say I dont to be big and clever. Its very flawed, and could have been so much better, it started so well, I could write 1 series outline that would blopw away anything they have done yet, but they would not go for it because they are limited in what they want to do, they just want to keep him out the costume, out of the sky's and out of any real drama till they eventually get cancelled and Tom welling is 36. Um...Dean Cain WAS a great Clark Kent.
by SpyGuy
Aug 3rd, 2007
07:44:25 AM
Especially in the first season, but it wasn't Cain's fault that the scripts became progessively campier (I can't even watch the third and fourth seasons).

Cain brought back the "hip" Clark Kent that George Reeves defined so well in THE ADVENTURES OF SUPERMAN and was a great contrast to Chris Reeve's "nerdy" Kent. If Cain's Superman portrayal wasn't so stilted and awkward, this wouldn't even be a discussion.

Lex as Zod
by McCroskey
Aug 3rd, 2007
08:11:17 AM
Using Lex as a vessel for Zod was lame, but Smallville still does Lex better than any of the movies ever has. Its still hard to believe that Singer chose to completely ignore the vastly superior vision of Lex that emerged in the 80s just to stay true to the Donner movies, which when it came to Lex, sucked ass. Its a shame that the general public is most aware of a crap version of Lex, while the superior version has been limited to comic books, cartoons, and the last two live action television shows (yes, even Lois and Clark did Lex well until his obsession with Lois led to his downfall, though on that show, it sort of made sense).
this show is like, 50% shit
by BizarroJerry
Aug 3rd, 2007
08:39:46 AM
but I really like the OTHER 50%. There are some truly great superman moments that crop up now and then on that show. But there are also just terrible, terrible episodes out there. The show's very inconsistent, with long stretches of pointless episodes, broken up by usually good "mythology" shows. And folks, despite what they're hinting at, it's pointless to believe this show is leading up to the exact Superman we've seen in comics, etc. They've gone off in their own direction, and I kinda like it that way. And yes, the strongest things about the show are Allison Mack (Chloe) and Michael Rosenbaum (Lex).
oh, and as for the cameos?
by BizarroJerry
Aug 3rd, 2007
08:43:09 AM
I'd like to see constant cameos, no matter how forced and staged. I want Superman voice actors and whoever that guy was on that awful Superboy show. How about the original movie Jimmy Olsen. Hell, how about Ned Beatty? And while it would never happen, and he would never be coerced into doing it, I'd like to see some Gene Hackman. That, of course, would make every other actor on that show look like they should be starring in high school musicals. Seriously, has their ever been an actor associated with Superman who was as good an actor?

Teri Hatcher nailed Lois though-although Erica Durance aint bad-better than Kate BOREsworth-Jesus what was Singer thinking? Anyway,Smallville-END!! NOW. Youve out stayed your welcome. Give Chloe her own show and just finish with a big finale with Clark in his Super duds for the first time meeting Lex (its clear that at this point Lex is gonna know who he is) and saying something like "Ill be keeping an eye on you Luthor" before swooping off into the sky and into space to circle earth ala the flicks.

Of course, they could always bring her back, but the fact that she's not a "canon" character and that her death could serve as the impetus for Lois Lane to become the hard-hitting investigative reporter she's known for, gives me HOPE that Chloe Sullivan is permanent maggot food.

And yes... I really DO hate the character THAT much. She's Clark's personal "Fatal Attraction."

Oh, and Superman Returns...

was the WORST depiction of Superman EVER on the screen, animated or live-action. I never thought I would ever see anyone get the Man of Steel done so WRONG.

Out of wedlock father? Abandoning Earth and Lois for years without a word to looking for Krypton when EVERYONE knew it was long gone? Stalking Lois after coming back and spying on her and her new family? NOT marrying Lois (although they still love one another) and just flying off after discovering he's fathered her 6-year-old son???

Pure crap, completely selfish and irresponsible and in no way, shape, or form anything LIKE Superman. SINO!!! >:P

Even worse is the fact that they're allowing the SAME IDIOTS responsible for this crap to take another dump on the poor guy.

At least I'll save myself 10 bucks when it comes out... plus, it makes Smallville look like cinematic GOLD in comparison.

I really liked Lois and Clark

I was a kid when it came out, but bought the DVDs as they came out and have really enjoyed watching them again. Yes, they're campy as hell (especially the last two seasons), but Dean Cain and Teri Hatcher had incredible chemistry first as rivals then as partners. The show was less about Superman and more about the two reporters, and I really dug that.

Plus, the nerdy Clark character is lame. Clark is who he is and Superman is his costume; any other way makes no sense to me.

So you'd rather have Stalkerman/Scrawnyman/Superman Lifts than Smallville? You are either insane or your name is Jon Peters, as if there is a difference. Now go back to compulsively viewing that trite on your HD DVD Xbox360 add-on before I stick you in a mylar bag with Spawn #1 which is probably worth more than your opinion...maybe.
TheGhostWhoLurks...you forgot Lex Luthor

With the bizarre decision to stay true to Donner, Singer completely ignored the vastly superior version of Lex Luthor that began with the Byrne re-imagining. It sucks that this superior Lex has been limited to cartoons and tv shows. Lex as the brilliant corporate tycoon would make for a much better villain than a guy obsessed with apocalyptic real estate schemes.
Actually, Superman's who he is and CLARK's the costume

Or at least that's how it was for at least the first fifty years of the character's history, until Byrne and a bunch of fired Marvel writers got to work at DC.
