I'd really come to terms with the belief that I'd never see any new Buffiverse program with any of the characters I know and love. It hurts too much to put faith in a dying cause. Joss is probably the least busy he's ever been, so that would give this a bit more hope. But for this to be Giles with an all-new cast could potentially be disappointing. I would lobby for an appearance from at least one of the following: Ethan Rayne, ghost of Jenny Calendar, ghost of Joyce Summers, Willow, maybe one of the old potentials like the girl from Freaks and Geeks (she was probably the only likable one), the ghost of Quentin Travers, Wesley Wyndham-Price, Wesley's dad, I guess he was a bit more connected to Tara than other Scoobies... Others too I'm sure. But the one you're most likely to get would be Andrew as indicated by the final Angel season. Which would be fine. I'll even take none; I'm a beggar. Any Buffiverse that involves visual motion and sound, I'd kill for.

Someone suggested this could be about the young Ripper. God help us... Still, I'm sure I'd watch it, to have SOMETHING... The BBC, though, seemed extremely fond of Buffy/Angel, more so than WB or UPN. I'd wager it's just a matter of the funding, yeah.

06:04:06 AM
Everything Sci-Fi orientated that the BBC makes looks tacky, cheap and looks like it had a budget of less than £100. I know there's a huge market for kitsch like Doctor Who, Blake's 7 and Torchwood, but let Whedon make it using a U.S studio and crew just compare Angel, Buffy and Firefly's production to any of that of the BBC's and the difference is there for all to see. I was told that production budget for one episode of Battlestar Galactica is equal to that of one of Doctor Who's - now tell me which one looks like they spent the money well! Don't let the BBC fuck this up - we've waited too long in Buffyverse for this for them to ruin it for everyone.

i must disagree. dr who's production values are excellent -- different from the US, maybe not that professional-looking at places, but still excellent. if who operates with the same amount of money per episode... well, just think that a lot of who eps have outdoor shots (a lot of them), which usually cost much more, almost the only constant scenery is the inside of the tardis, everything else... they need new sets. whereas in bsg, they can keep reusing the same sets (and they do). so, really, don't compare apples and oranges.

and as proof that a, bbc can make kickass series, and b, using hdv instead of film is just as good, take a look at the recently (read: yesterday) completed miniseries, jekyll. shot on hdv, made by bbc, and kicks some serious ass both visually and storywise. so, don't be afraid... if there is a ripper series done by the bbc, it's gonna kick ass.

Jekyll is a show with an adult audience and post-watershed content. I think its likely any buffy franchise will get very different young-teen treatment. I would go so far as to guess it'll get Dr.W's slot during the season break. But as long as they stay the hell away from CG monsters (which always look shocking in Who and worse in other UK dramas (Primevil for example *shudder*)) they should be able to keep most of the feel of the original shows, even if it's with less menace and more cheesey comedy.

reported the death of East enders Icon Mike Reid. For 12 years Reid brought the real life east end to a very fictional world. Uk visitors to this site will remember him for Runaround. The hugely popular kids tv show in which Reid would ask questions and then shout "RUNAROUND" at the top of his east end accent. He started his carrer as a comic in working men clubs and he got his big break on the outdated show the comedians on ITV which raked in something like 22millions viewers. Though the material would be classified as ractist and offensive today . it was the dreariness of the eastenders scripts that forced him to leave the first time. In the rules on eastenders you forbidden to publicise anything. Reid didnt know this and when he went off the publicise autobiography. his Eastenders bosses read him the riot act and as punishment he was suspended from the show. This site will remember him from Snatch. and he was making another film at the time of his death. The trailer was due to be released. When John yorke assumed command of eastenders three years. He dropped a lot of characters from the show and the buthcher family was one victim. One of eastenders finest moments and Frank affairs between Peggy and Pat. Pat gets a knock on the door and its frank wearing nothing but twirling bowtie. 'appy birthday dahling. classic. He brought a lot of charm to the street and he had great oneliners. He was the only kids tv presenter who looked he came from a car lot. His death was sudden. His doctors gave him the all clear. He was rushed to hopsital with stomach pains and he died of massive heart attack. He will be missed. He was roger Moore stuntman on the saint. He was a legend and he will be missed. He was 67. season 8/7 ruined things to a point

I enjoyed a lot of season seven, and found the finale a pretty good ending. Season 8 has been a lot of fun, but the idea that it's offical gives it a lot of weight... That being said, Whedon and company have written themselves in a corner for any future TV and film projects with the Buffyverse. There's just too much backstory; and the concept of there being an Army of Slayers makes Buffy a little mundane. If there is ever going to be a film version, it will have to be yet another revamp not attached to the series, with a new cast. Which is a shame.

I thought I heard she was taking a break from acting to raise her kids. Did you ever notice how many Buffyverse actors show up on "how I met your mother" on cbs? Whedon's always promising things he doesn't deliver. And isn't ASH getting a little creaky for this sort of thing? I mean, he was fine as the alien headmaster on Doctor Who, but I think his Giles alter-ego would have been better served if they'd done the show six years ago as it was originally promised. At most, it will be a curiosity.

SMG only copied Alicia Silverstone for Buffy.

Her movies suck, except Scooby Do. Mainly because of the whole nostalgia thing.

The Grudge blew. Even the Japanese version sucked with it's vagueness. The reason it was popular, Jap version, was the weirdness of movement that EVERYONE copied after that.

SMG suffers from the whole fucking Sandra Bullock syndrome. Like Meg Ryan they both need to play dirty whores and break the goody two shoes image.

The post buffy/angel projects have been teased so much that i shouldn't expect them anytime soon...and yet, I want them to be real so much that i hold out hope. It's obvious now that the wb only said they would do angel or spike tv movies to make fans shut up about canceling Angel. It's too bad it's pretty much a bust now. And the Faith series might've happened if not for True Calling. The animated series couldn't find a home. Seems the Ripper series/movie is the only one where all parties sound like they want to do it if everything could be worked out right. Imagine what a score that could be for BBC America. This project always sounded like the most interesting of the ideas they were developing so I hope it happens. Whatever the case, though his influence is felt in a lot of today's genre shows, television needs Joss Whedon to come back. One movie every few years just doesn't compare to full 22 episode seasons.

The Vampire Slayer? A full 22 episode season? Seriously, why not?As far as I can tell Eliza and Joss have little on their plate and I'm sure it would be a great series.

A series with Faith as the central character, perhaps a reluctant hero with her friends often saving the day instead. Cherry Pick some popular, but available stars from the Buffyverse and focus on story rather than special effects. Keep the budget low. There's money to be made here..... but as each year ticks past, surely it will become less and less viable. Ripper will need a bigger connection to the buffyverse to make it past a single movie. The time period would work well with a previous owner of Spikes leather coat....
