Has anyone seen his other film Maléfique? Just wondering if it's any good. That movie supposedly got him the job as director for One Missed Call
missed it by that much...

probably be waiting for video on Whiteout: "Not so much in this one where they were filming in places 30 degrees below freezing and always had on five layers. In her parka she didn't quite get the same reaction from the crew." Just saying.

Shannyn Sossamon and Ed Byrnes in the One Missed Call remake. I take it for a given that the movie will be an artistic failure, but still find some amusement in the fact that it has been cast so perfectly with leads whose very presence screams flop.
I CAN"T WAIT FOR THIS!!

Quint...if you go here and jump through a few hoops, you can get an mp3 of the One Missed Call ringtone. It was recorded directly off the movie. http://www.megaupload.com/?d=F YL706U7

Hope they updated the script a bit. The comic is basically how it was down here 20 years ago. Things have changed a lot. We typically have about 30% women, not just 1 or 2.
Ed Burns? Wow, desperate.

One Missed Call cannot work as a remake unless it has been severely overhauled by, say, Tony Kushner or something. The original Miike film itself was, IMHO, something of a mild satire of the J-horror genre, and did not have a narrative that stood up to that much scrutiny - though I really liked it. The cast sounds lame.

graphic novel vs. comic

well usually when people say graphic novel, they mean a one shot story told in one big book. and comics usually refer to an ongoing (usually monthly) series. so if whiteout isnt an ongoing series then it probably is a graphic novel. now there is the one exception, some are 3-9 issue mini series that are eventually put together as one so in this case i guess technically it be both. lol

Yes, I thought it was a great comic, he got most of the feel of the place pretty good, but even when it was written it was very dated as to how things are on the Ice now. The only military personnel are basically the Airforce during the summer for the flights in and out, there are about 30% women, quite a few married couples, full (private) phone / internet facilities etc, sexual harrasment is no different than any other workplace, and is treated the same. A murder in Antarctica would be a huge international incident, there would be a whole team of investigators, and there is no way they would close the station for winter until it was sorted out. If they have to, they can keep flying in for an extra couple of months. Incidentally it is the NSF Station Manager (the highest ranking person down here) who is also a deputized US Marshal, just in case some sort of official law enforcement is required. It pretty much never is though.
Dominic Sena sucks
