I really hope Iron Man kicks ass. Everything seems to be "right" that we've seen so far. This, Dark Knight, Indy 4....things are looking up as compared to this year.

I never thought about Sabbath's "Iron Man" associated with this, but I have to admit, hearing that description of IM taking out a horde with flame throwers from his gloves while that song is playing gave me the goosebump moment. I love how this is shaping up. Cannot wait...

That Iron Man trailer sounds incredible. The only thing more amazing is how much weight Favreau lost. Cause damn, homeboy was a house before. If he is Happy Hogan that will make him the king of Marvel sidekicks/support staff actors.

Excellent. Hope it does the short story justice. Ryuhei Kitamura is a fun/cool/kickass director in my book, so I have high hopes for this one. *sigh* Who am I kidding? It will probably suck, but I would love to be pleasantly surprised.

Christ, that would be lame. I mean, if all he did was whatever an iron can.

Anyway, nice work on the Iron Man description, Quint. I just get more and more excited about this one. Positive vibes and yang energy to the first person who posts an online link to it.

Finally got to watch your masterpiece "Ghostrider". Holy shit was that atrocious. I think my favorite parts of that movie was the "action scenes" where said bad guy would attack ghostrider, throw around a bit, and then stand back/hang in the air and wait to be attached by the flaming chain whip. Bye-bye badguy. It was really painful to watch.
I'm happy/sad you enjoyed it/hated it

I'm not sure which, but either way you have my congratulations/sympathies.

It seems a little unfair suggesting you watch that one, because I saw Blood Diamond the other day (as a part of the transatlantic movie exchange program) and it's actually a pretty decent film. Not great, but I liked it, and I thought Leonardo did a good job. Don't tell anyone, but I even teared up a little bit at the end.

I also need to thank TELF for recommending Timeline, which was fucking hilarious. A true classic of the Dumbhouse genre. Nice one, TELF.

(TMEP), I would like to recommend 'No Escape' with Ray Liotta, Ernie Hudson.

Yes, the gambit of emotions ran through me while watching Ghostrider, but mostly amazement/disbelief/shock that they actually released this in theaters...

Okay, No Escape it is

Consider that one added to the list. Since you're offering up a daft one, it seems only fair that I suggest a genuinely good one I've seen lately. I don't know if you've seen any of these, so here's a few to consider:

Perfume: The Story Of A Murderer - Good period piece about a creepy killer who smells stuff.

The Good Shepherd - A slow burner, but better than the reviews I read and almost makes up for De Niro's shitty acting record of late.

The Illusionist - Fuck it, I liked it better than The Prestige. Edward Norton and Paul Giamatti? How can you go wrong?

Also, by way of a reverse recommendation, please do not watch The Gingerdead Man, which is a film about an evil gingerbread man and is not nearly as good as it sounds. It's only an hour long, and I was bored to tears for all 3600 seconds of it.

P.S. Iron Man looks good. Totally on-topic.

If you haven't seen it, just pillow talk, my recommendation to you is Hot Fuzz. Hilarious film, especially for Point Break fans.

Unless you hated Shaun Of The Dead, in which case don't bother.

Seen the other two (Good Shepherd was just okay for me, the Illusionist was good, but I prefer me the Prestige).

And I'm shocked...no, appalled that the Gingerdead Man was no good. I mean, with that title, great horrifically awful things were expected. I just can't believe it didn't deliver in the stupidity department. Oh, and Hot Fuzz is in my queue. I found Shaun of the Dead freak'n hilarious. I love that he keeps his walking dead friend chained up at the end there.

I just looked it up on Netflix, and here's the movie description:

Evil never tasted so good! When Sarah Leigh (Robin Sydney) testifies against three murderers in a death penalty case, she never expects them to return to life in the form of delicious desserts. But that's exactly what happens when their cremated ashes accidentally fall into a batch of batter and are baked into a trio of gingerbread men. Now, the adorable yet evil cookies will stop at nothing to find the woman who sent them to the electric chair.

I just can't believe this wasn't a keeper!

Are the repulsor rays solid beams, or distinct, measured blasts like the lasers in Star Wars? (After the sheer nerdy-ness of this question, I will never again be able to make fun of the adults who spend their hard-earned money on the toys (sorry, "maquettes") AICN pimps so often in its corner ads.)

See, when you describe it like that, it sounds great, but watching the damn thing is a whole 'nother matter. One of those frustrating superlow budget affairs where they come up with a funny concept and then do nothing interesting with it, and it's just really, really boring. What a waste.

So, Hot Fuzz it is, then. I liked it so much I'm thinking of buying it, and I hardly ever buy DVDs anymore. The last half hour, especially, had me in tears of laughter. Nick Frost is a comedy genius - no one else can say 'cunt' and make it as funny as he does.

"Judd Apatow introduces trailer for Drillbit Taylor. Owen Wilson, a bum, is hired to protect kids from school bullies. They do it again, to pander to comic-con attendees... $280 million budget, Michael Bay did 2nd Unit... about a magic school... with robots and communication for the dead."

That's gotta be a typo surely...or are studios so stupid that they think Owen Wilson can carry a $280 Million film?

he was just a witty, gigantic loser.

Past performances like in US Marshals ans Hearts and Souls should be closer of his Stark portrayal. At least I hope, cause his asshole, heartless character in H&S was screaming Tony Stark. Please, don't turn him into a sarcastic, grown up version of comic books' Spidey. PLEASE!!!

If they do use the "Iron Man" song in the finished movie, by god it better the original Black Sabbath Song. I have nightmares about studio executives finding the need to make a hip hop remix version with Doctor Dre to get the 13 year ridillin crowd to buy the soundtrack. Any one remember the Puff Daddy version of "Kashmir" from 1998's "Godzilla" film? Just thinking about that make me dry heave

Met him at a book signing once and he was away with the chemical fairies. Nice chap and all that, but I wouldn't trust him with too much that a) involved hand-eye coordination or b) creating detailed mythologies and never quite getting round to finishing the stories occurring inside them.

Then I could have carved the last part of my previous post into something approaching comprehensible English. Ah, well. I meant something along the lines of: "Met him at a book signing once and he was away with the chemical fairies. Nice chap and all that, but I wouldn't trust him with too much that a) involved hand-eye coordination or b) didn't involve creating detailed mythologies and never quite getting round to finishing the stories occurring inside them." Time for bed, methinks.
