...Adam Sandler flicks. This is not something I'm proud of.
I guess it is an age thing, b/c...

I love cheap horror movies from the 70's and 80's, and up... I'm talking the good ones like the zombie movies of Romero and (of course) Halloween, not-IceCube-Friday(s), Freddy, and stuff half-way like Wolfen or Mosquito or MonsterMan.

The only thing is I can't keep rewatching these things, but they are entertaining to me. Then again, I used to watch Ma and Pa Kettle movies for the heck of it, clean family fun.
Oddly enough

It's Batman Begins for me. I've lost count of how many times I've watched that damn movie. It leaves a smile on my face every time.

Good call. That's a mouth watering list of films. I can't consider them movie comfort food though. More like bread and butter. Thus, my anticipation for the new Monster Squad DVD is pretty much unbearable. Shouldn't there be a review of it up pretty soon? And one other thing. O'Doyle rules!
My movie comfort food = classic John Carpenter flicks

I'm talking Assault On Precinct 13, Escape From New York, Big Trouble In Little China, They Live! and The Thing. Those five especially. There are a lot of other JC films that I love, but it's those five that I can just watch anytime and never get bored of them. They're my perfect escapist movie comfort food.

On the other hand, if I need to be reminded of the pure, unadulturated greatness that cinema can produce, then it's Lawrence Of Arabia, every time.

There are others, of course, many of them, but those are always evergreen for me.

I suppose it is an age thing

I suppose it is an age thing for me as well, but my movie comfort food is the original live action Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. I was a little too old for it when it came out (maybe 12?) but as a kid I couldn't believe how awesome it was. How they made a dark movie where "the rat" is tortured and the turtles get along, for kids. PS O Brother where art thou is the movie on my shelf I go to whenever I need a little cinematic fried chicken.
I love you again

Man I didn't even know this was coming. Thanks a ton Drew. Myrna Loy is still one of my huge crushes. They made I believe 14 movies together so this brings the total to...12. We need 2 more I think on dvd. My other comfort movie is Airplane! go fig.

How old exactly do you think Moriarty IS??!! By the 'age' argument he'd be watching the same 70s and 80s stuff.

I love those movies. I have 4 comfort movies that always cheer me up and 2 of them have already been named, Big Trouble in Little China and The Goonies. The other 2 are Sleepy Hollow ( I dont know why either, it just makes me smile every time I watch it) and Dirty Rotten Scoundrels. It still cracks me up.
