Kind of expected this to be the case. Chan is getting on a bit now...which is shit because he should NEVER get old and die. He's one the best things to ever come out of Asian cinema.

But at least this will keep Brett Ratt from destroying actual films and maybe keep him from material with volcanic potential that he turns into flat puddles of piss ("Red Dragon"). Keep him making the Rush Hour movies until part XXVI or until he dies of cocaine overdose. Just don't let him touch anything else.
keep him busy

i agree -- keep ratner busy and occupied making b-movies so he can't harm movies that have potential.

East meets west will always be hilarious. Especially in the hands of the Chan Man. Unless, for some untold reason, Tucker lost his high pitch voice and his bug eyes- and the Chan Man forgot how to be asian, then I don't see how this won't be the greatest movie of any summer. I think that after this movie, there won't be summer anymore. The entire season will stop because there won't be anymore movies put into it that could even match the brilliance of Rush Hour 3. Suck my dick.

Paris is actually guite dirty and run down in most parts. The Parisians actually cried foul when Jean Pierre Jeunet's Amelie came out and made Paris look gorgeous.

...and those fucks hated it, but of course you can't judge a movie based on what they say because every movie reviewed there is only good based on how it treats latinos. el-motherfuckfaces, where's our dark knight review? anyways, the trailers for rush hour 3 look lame, at best. yet every film i see the trailer in front of, the audience cackles like fools, and it blows my mind. "what? did chris tucker say something racist? whoa, that's wacky! they got fingers shoved up their asses at an airport! I've GOT TO see this!" Fuck that, i don't think i'll make it out to this one. But this will definitely open huge, mark my words. I work with this fat fuck, and one day we were having lunch at the mall, and we walked past the cinema, where a rush hour 3 poster was, and this fuck nearly shit his pants. "I can't wait to see that!", he goes. This cat's dvd collection includes masterpieces such as XXX: STate of the Union, Into the Blue, and (are you ready for this?)... Van Wilder 2: Rise of Taj. (he even saw that one in the theatre.) I make it a rule to not see anything he has recommended. So, to review, fuck latinoreview, fuck my fat fuck co-worker, fuck "Rush Hour 3: A Brett Ratner film", and fuck all you fucks that contribute to its 45 million-plus opening weekend.

Mel Garga is right--CT was the Jar Jar Binks of Fifth Element.

And his name on the credits of anything since has been a deal breaker for me.

I hate to see Jackie Chan re-hashing shit that was beneath him from the get-go, but then again it is still Jackie Chan.

Has anyone seen the first American movie he did in, I think the eighties? I remember there being a Jackie Chan video for NES way back when old was new.
Gotta add...

That while I was in Paris, I was amazed at just how ugly, boring and dirty it was. The only part of the city that had any sort of buzz was Montmare, and only cause the neon lights for porn stores are so bright. Otherwise it was just kind of grey. The Eifell tower...It was a big piece of metal with some stairs and a view of one dull city. Great metro system though. Really sweet public transport. The little lamps at the top of the stairs were cool too. Watching bag snatches from my balcony was fun too, but I could probally do that at home.

Paris, but then again they were (are) a complete whore/slut. I'm not angry at them, but I sure as hell don't believe that they have good taste, especially since they dated me.

I'm not sure if I'm serious, or not.

THIS MOVIE SUCKED SO FUCKING HARD IT HURT ME PHSICALLY. terrible plot. same old race jokes (not that i dont appreciate that humor, but its literally the same jokes from the first 2). crazy ass not-bound-in-reality parachuting from the eifel tower scene. save your nine dollars and use it to get drunk and fall asleep. much better use of your cash. and believe me, nobody wanted this movie to be a good one more than i did.

If I had my way, there would be a second Shanghai Noon sequel. I always preferred that "franchise" to the Rush Hour movies. I think Owen has a better chemistry with Jackie than Chris, and the movies are more fun. And Shanghai Knights is INCREDIBLY underrated. That movie was flat out wonderful.

Sorry to hear that. I was looking forward to this one. I know I'm an outsider on this, but Ratner's got a masterpiece in him yet. (though granted he's in a slump with 'Red Dragon', 'X-Men 3', and his appearance in "On the Lot".) The first 'Rush Hour' was fantastic, the second wasn't terrible, 'Family Man' was heartwarming, and 'After the Sunset' wasn't bad. He's got lots of potential, he just hasn't found his muse yet. I'll keep following his career. He's got one. He's one up on me.
I quite enjoyed After The Sunset and X3....

Sometimes, it's better just not to explain a character's backstory that explains every motivation in pop-psychological fashion. Frequently, the explanation is both boring and robs what little mystery or romance or danger there might be about a character. The backstory should be skipped especially if the backstory and explanation are going to be of the boring, seen-it-before-100-times variety.

Yeah, put me down for a third Shanghai movie. On the writers' commentary on the Knights DVD, they explain that that have the very last scene already written, and all they need is a green light to fit the rest of the movie in. I also appreciate how the Shanghai movies don't stoop to race-baiting as much as Chris Tucker does, some of which is funny, but enough is enough. Just give us Shanghai Dawn (with the return of Lucy Liu and Fann Wong, of course!) and allow Jackie to retire from acting and concentrate on grooming an heir to his particular style of martial arts.
