That's a good point, actually. It's just that the concept art had her in it, pretty clearly, and Zemeckis' work in this field (like in POLAR EXPRESS) tends to just go with whatever the actor actually looks like.

If anyone saw Monster House than they know how great that looked. Take that and then advance it and apply it to a photo realistic film. The mere fact that half the people on here can't tell if that is Angelina Jolie or not, instead of wondering if its CG or not should give you a hint of how cool this will be.

07:20:49 PM
The reason the Netherlands got the first look is simple: the Cinema Expo International took place in Amsterdam this week and Hollywood came out to our capital and brought a ton of billboards and stuff with them. I was lucky enough to visit the event for Filmfocus.nl and of course I brought my camera along for the ride. By the way, Harry forget to mention (or maybe he didn't found it interesting enough) that there are a lot more pictures of billboards and posters on the website. You don't have to worry about confusing Dutch mumbo jumbo. I made it quite easy to click threw the different pages. You can visit them here: http://tinyurl.com/ywy63v

Don't get me wrong, Zemekis has given us some great films, but PE was an abomination, and nothing he's ever done has displayed any of the raw primal power of Frazetta. Hopefully he'll prove me wrong though. Btw, anyone seen Fire and Ice? Very cool animated movie made in part by Frank himself.

Isn't there going to be 2 versions? PG-13 and NC-17? That is what I heard. Thank god Tim Story didn't get his hands on this. I may sound funny to say Zemeckis is 'underrated' but I believe his is. His track record is second only to Saint Steven.

09:18:11 PM
What terrible looking promo art, it looks at best like some typical packaging for a meideval fantasy genre computer game, and at worst like some generic Sci-Fi Channel junk. Hell, they just did Beowulf last winter, didn't they? Or was that the Ring of Neuberling? I'll hope it's just the shotty photography, but I'm not digging any of that artwork. Grendel looks like a model kit scanned from a Previews ad page. They are also apparently tweeking the story, I don't recall a femme fatale anywhere in Beowulf--no one important enough to put so prominently on the ads without changing the story a lot. I mean Grendel's Mom could be turned into a vampy sex pot I guess, but, eh, that's taking more than a few liberties. Like I care if they did though.

by SalvatoreGravano
Jun 30th, 2007

It's been a few years, but I could swear the only female character was Grendel's Mother. I assume the rock in the middle is supposed to be Grendel. What's the point of casting Crispin Glover if he's covered with rubber and looks like a CGI troll? Oh, right. He's a fan favorite. I had high hopes until I saw the pre-production "art". I had some hopes until I saw these posters. Now I see this won't be a scab on Crichton and McTiernan's magnificent adaptation/non-adaptation.

3 actors play Beowulf
by 300spartansinhell
Jun 30th, 2007
07:15:29 AM
One is Winstone and it seems he only makes the voice, the other has his body and the third has Beowulfs face. It seems like they overcomplicated it, but I guess that Zemeckis likes Winstones voice so much that he wanted him for the part although he isn´t exactly built as a mighty dragon slayer.

about the logo. The logo on the official page looks much more beowulf. It captures the bronze of that age much more so than the modern golden letters. So Zemeckis and co, stick with the official page logo design with the dragon head on the "B" that looks awesome. Check this out geeks and say if I´m not right: http://www.beowulfmovie.com/

Got any arguments to prove its fake?

it's all "too right" because the fan used those exact details to make this trailer. They even went for the "camcorder-in-a-theater" shaky look to make it more convincing and to hide the quality of it. You can tell the only actual filmed footage - the cards - looks a little amateur-ish.
I'm looking for the news link now that found its origin - will post when I can find it again.

08:24:42 AM
Ruth is lustless. Grendel looks like Gollum after he took radio active steroids or does Grendel live in a toxic swamp? He seems to have a headache--must be from the noise of all the revelry in Heorot--which by the way looks like a castle of some sort. That is certainly not true to the epic. I just pray that Danes will not have horns on their helmets. Finally, I wonder if the movie will have any of the Christian themes and ideas in the epic or will it simply ignore them.

Even more baffling than the lack of interest from the studios to cash in on Chuck's newfound cult icon status is the fact that many of his greatest movies are not readily available to buy. And the great of all is of course the CHUCK NORRIS ANIMATED SERIES! It's certainly better than the RAMBO toon and that's on DVD. That having been said, I'd buy a box set with the MR. The movie is motion capture CGI, like Polar Express except hopefully without looking like corpses bouncing around like marionettes. Nobody is covered in rubber.

The tag lines lead me to believe they are at least headed in that direction.
Pride Poster= Lost's Sawyer? Concept Art?

Are we sure this isn't poster concepts or something thrown together for a trade show? That Pride poster looks EXACTLY like Sawyer from Lost and I KNOW I've seen a shot of him, shirtless, in that exact pose with his hair like that. I'm wondering if they just used some existing pictures for temp art.
nowt amazing yet...

300 was R-rated, and made a shitload of money. Beowulf won't cost $150 million (40-80, I can't remember). "This thing" exists 'cause Gaiman and Avary were shooting shit one day and Gaiman helped Avary out with this script idea he had and Zemeckis said "Sounds cool, let's do it." Literally - go read Gaiman's journal. None of which matters, because Zemeckis said there will be a PG-13 and an NC-17 version, which is fairly easy to do when the movie is CG, and sounds fine by me.
