As someone who enjoys anime, I'm going to say Hell yeah, Quint. I enjoy the mature nature of most anime, but I miss it in American animation. Sure, we've had Ralph Bakshi attempt this kind of sensibility, along with flicks like "Heavy Metal" and "Rock and Rule" among others, but a lot of those flicks (and I enjoy "Heavy Metal" and "Coonskin" as much as the next person...I think) were drowned out by too many outside forces -- ie producers, advertisers, and unreceptive audiences. Wait...did I have a point? Fuck. I guess it would be nice to see some mature animation produced in America that actually gets some attention beyond the "OMG!!11 ITS TEH BLOOD AND TITZOR!111! LOL!!" Oh, and I loved Samurai Jack. ^_^

Wonder if it will continue on from the TV show, or if it will re-tell the main story and finish it off. SJ wasn't plot centered at all, so it'll be interesting to see what story GT will tell. Loved the show. The Evil Jack ep was the first one I saw and it totally hooked me. So intense and brilliant.

Finally Season 4 on DVD and now this? I was wondering when the story would be completed. Hands down the best thing to ever come out of Cartoon Network. First time I saw it I was blitz on a beach in Koh Lanta Thailand and it was in an outside bar, the pilot episode. I have always planned to get a tatoo of Jack's family insignia with the paw prints tracking across it in honor of the show and to honor my pooch Jack. Man this is simply the best news I have heard all year. Thank you!

loved this show and watched it religiously until CN started moving the times it aired all around and generally fucking with the show so it was impossible to find out when it was on. can't wait to catch up with the show on DVD and the comming movie. i'll probally cry like a little girl when jack finally gets back home. thos show usaully packed more heart, soul, action and comic relief into one 22 minute episode than some feature films that were 2 hour plus.

"jump good!" :)

I'm highly excited by what they seem to be promising, because this is the kind of thing I've been waiting for American animation to do. And the fact that it's being manned by ex-Spumco people gives it some street cred. The only thing that remains to be seen is if they can deliver on quality, and not make trash, as the thing that worries me is that they're aim is at "young males." Somehow that line doesn't bode well.

amazing show, and i'm sure the movie will be just as amazing. they need to bring back the big blue beast that followed Jack around for an entire episode and then unleashed hell on the robot greaser gang. but Jack vs. The Undead is still my fav episode.

Sorry if I'm being dense, but why make such a point of this being '2-D'? Isn't it the default for all movies and animation (with '3-D' being special and therefore worth labeling as such)?
It better have Phil Lamarr in it as Green Latern!

but I've heard it's good. Visually though, the Samurai Jack "simplified geometry"/minimal detail style has a number of limitations which might have artistic merit but sacrifices in functional capabilities. I'd be curious to see what they come up with.

We DO need a really badass adult 2D horror film. That would be the coolest thing since the sequence from Kill Bill. Maybe I should go ahead and finish this animated Friday the 13th script that's been lying around my apartment for years. An animated Jason Voorhees would rip apart some weirdly-drawn samurai guy any day of the week.

As much as it would be interesting to see Jack kill people, it isnt in his code. Purifying the world of evil, destroying killer robots, saving the innocent are in there, but no real blood is spilt by his blade. That and it'd really kill the story if he did it intentionally. Were talking about excising lessons he was given as a child over the importance of life.

I miss Samurai Jack soo much, can't wait for the movie. Mako will be hard to replace!

My favourite ep is the one with the assassins working together and plotting Jack's demise and then in the space of a falling drop of water Jack annihilates all of them. Jack didn't even speak in that ep!!
