I love Jackson as an actor, but I've always though of Fury being Ving Rhames size. Not that Sam isnt badass, but Fury has always had a larger then life quality about him that extended to his physical presence and no matter how fine an actor he is, Sam just is not that mountain of a man.

...and the Ultimates is a fantastic update to the whole Avengers thing. If they tried to make a character like Captain America or Batman black, I'd have an issue - but Nick Fury? Why not? Maybe we'll get a separate S.H.I.E.L.D. movie out of this? This is indeed "cool news."

Might as well just call it the ultimates anyways..... Cuz the first two ultimate runs were all based outa shields triskelion in NY. And every time you turn around in the Ultimates, theres a heavy shield presence. Sorta what you'd expect out of a modern day, gov't backed super team anyways.
But what about 616?

I remember I read somewhere that Marvel didn't want to make an Ultimates movie, that they wanted an Avengers movie. I guess this changes everything, we will never have an Avengers movie. From now on it's going to be the Ultimate Universe that gets the movie treatment.

The people bitching about skin colour are obviously such HUGE fans of the character that they had no idea that the Ultimate version of Fury was based on Sam the Man. As far as I can see that makes them A) Ill informed B) Racist C) Unashamed of this. That's 3 for 3. In a more pleasant frame of mind, this is the kind of geeky gossip that makes AICN worth while. IM just keeps sounding better and better.

I LOVE the ultimates. And for those that dont know, the Ultimates version of Fury was created with Sam Jackson in mind. However, thats the WRONG universe. In the "normal" marvel universer, the one where every other fucking Marvel movie takes place, Fury is a white, World War 2 veteran (who aged VERY slowly) While Im all for an Ultimates movie, to me mixing continuity like this is just dumb. It feels like stunt casting and personally I hate it when they change the ethnicity or look of a character purely for the sake of demographics. An NO, Im not racist. If they put the Falcon in the Captain America movie, and he's white, thats just as freaking stupid. Sigh
The hell.. ?! Just because Samuel Jackson is in it..

..it doesn't mean it's the Ultimate Universe. C'Mon fanboys, Iron Man is even wearing a close replica of his current 616 armor. This is just a whole different universe with it's own rules and if they have Mr. Jackson as Nick Fury I couldn't be any happier.

Look, Iron-Man is the first outa the gate for any of the ultimates. Hulk movie on its way....Easy as pie to have it set in the ultimates universe, just add Sam J as Fury and its a done deal. Captain America Movie after that...no Prob. You know Fury will be in that... Then you got a Giant Man/Ant Man Movie - Now theres a Drama/Action movie, especially if they stick to the Ultimates story line of how Abusive Hank Pym is towards Janet. And then You gots my Favourite. THOR. Thor as done in the Ultimates series is the cheaper way to go, but they just might go the Walt Simonson route and do a Lord of the Rings esque massive scale movie. (wich I would prefer), but still, that Thor can easily come to Midgard in his Ultimates duds. Add black widow and hawkeye to either the Iron Man or Captain America movies and theres your team with absolutely no fraking around with established Marvel movies. Nuff said.

Which pretty much sucks for fans of the actual Avengers... the one where Cap doesn't literally kick a guy when he's down, Hulk doesn't want to rape Betty, Jarvis isn't that pervy old guy from "Family Guy", the Vision isn't a watered down chick version of the Silver Surfer, and so on. Really, the less "Ultimates" influence on Marvel Films, the better. Just because Mark Millar pre-fucks all the concepts before they go to the screen doesn't make it better than Galacta-cloud. (Ooooh... he's locusts in the Ulitmate Version! And Doom is named Van Dammme! That's much better than the source material!) Seriously, I know this is a bit role, but Marvel... look at your track record. Let people who love the source material adapt that, and not make an adaptation of Mark Millar's adaptation of the source material. That's how you get hack work.

Get used to it. The Ultimate universe from it's inception has been about rebooting and UPDATING these characters for today's audience. You will never see an old school avengers movie because it would be goofy and campy. It would be Spider-Man 3. It would be Batman & Robin. Do you really want that? I hope not. Besides, do any of you REALLY care about Nick Fury SO much that you think his character would be ruined as a black man?

...I just don't like the way the character is portrayed in the Ultimate Universe compared to classic Nick Fury, simple as that. Nor do I remember the last several runs of the regular Marvel Universe version of The Avengers being campy for that matter.

I'm not ragging on the Ultimates, I'd just prefer they used the original established version of Nick Fury, not the johnny-come-lately Ultimate version, that's all. To me it's all about character, not colour.

That said, yeah, if they're going to go all Ultimate Nick Fury then of course it makes perfect sense to cast Sam "shouty" Jackson, given that the ultimate version was based on him and all, but what can I say, as a huge old school Nick Fury fan I just prefer the original incarnation better, that's all. And as such I would have personally preferred to see someone like Michael Wincott in the role. Wasn't to be though, so there you go.

...there's a completely seperate version of him that happens to be black in the comparitively very small section of the Marvel Universe that covers the various Ultimate related books, in the other 95% of what consists of the regular Marvel Universe and Marvel Titles he's still the original classic (and white) Nick Fury that he's always been, so why don't you "get with the times" fuckwit.

by Long Tooth

...he never went back? It's not that people are against a black hero. Far from it, it's just that Fury’s been white for - I don't know - 40 years? And he's still around in the “Mainstream Marvel Universe”. The Ultimate version has been around for maybe 5 years? Keep things in perspective. It’s not racism, it precedent and history.

...like I said, I'm not haterizing on this, if you're going to do Ultimate Nick Fury, which is apparently is what they have chosen to do, then the casting of the face of Ultimate Nick Fury, Sam "shouty" Jackson himself, makes perfect logical sense. I just personally would have preferred for them to go with the classic version, because I prefer the classic character, and despite sharing a name and some conceptual similarities, they are two decidedly different characters at the end of the day. But it's Ultimate Nick they're going with (which in itself isn't unexpected) so there you have it.

...but if they take the face of Ultimate Nick Fury, but the character of regular Nick Fury, then to me they've done a disservice to the fans of Ultimate Nick Fury, who would naturally expect that's the character they are going to be getting on screen. If you cast Jackson then it should be the Ultimate character that you base everything else about him on, otherwise it just feels too much like trying to straddle the fence, which usually ends up pleasing niether side.

I can't understand it. "New takes on familiar characters"... which turns Captain America into a bitter thug and Wolverine into a Gen-X "bad boi". Why are the movie people tapping into this side-project, instead of going to the original source material? I'm no racist, I have nothing against Sam Jackson... I just want my comic icons to stay true to their roots when they hit the big screen.

I guess the main reason this bothers me is that, given a choice between Classic Nick Fury and New Nick Fury, they went with the latter. And since Marvel's next big-screen adaptation is going to be Cap... I'm *terrified* that the Ultimate version is going to be used. That travesty of a character.

Sigh. I guess I should just sit back and see what happens, but... dammit, Cap matters to me!

Sam Jackson playing Fury does NOT mean MARVEL has picked ULTIMATES as template. Sam was basis for new Fury. Plus he is a movie star with a penchant for geeky coolness (windu, mr glass). I think Arad always said there would be some blending of Marvel classic and Ultimates due to ever expanding fan base. I just want an Avengers movie that isnt weighed down with indivudal origin story...just jump right into the action. Or maybe a New Defenders movie where Valkyrie and Gargoyle get freaky

For the screen. You all know that if we got a plain old "Avengers" movie, it would be some cobbled together bullshit that would most likely wind up being on par with Fantastic Four or X-men. UA however is written LIKE a movie, so all they have to do is follow the book 300 style, and you have, basically, a gaurenteed great film. But the real reason I want to see it is so we can get the sequel to it, in which Hawkeye kills everyone in the room TIED TO A CHAIR by ripping off his own fingernails and fucking people up.

There are some characters in any universe, that you can toy with when it comes to Race and get away with it on screen or in the comics. Hell Stan Lee did his own take on Batman and made him black. (that comic sucked by the way). If your gonna dig in the bottom of the comic trenches, you can toy with cerain characters and make their on screen personas work with any race. Luke cage, yes. Blue Beetle, yes. War Machine? sure. Red Falcon? why not. Steel? Hell yes, freakin Shaq sucked balls! I'd rather see the character played by a native indian, make him something like Forge (whom you can't toy with when it comes to race). Alls I'm saying is, doesn't matter if Nick Fury is black or white, so long as the person playing him personafize his hard assness, and Sam "The Fucking Man" has the balls of steels to pull it off proper. I can see him talking down to Tony Stark now "SAY WHAT AGAIN!!!! SAY WHAT AGAIN!! I double dog dare you motherfucker, say what again!!!"

So let me see. You have no problems buying a modern (current era) movie wherein a former WWII noncom is now the head of a supersecret spy agency (seeing as how most former WWII noncoms are now either dead or very, very old). But make him African-American and suddenly you're unable to suspend disbelief?

Put aside the whole Ultimates thing (as I do, since I've never read them). The movies change elements and continuity from the comics all the time (as they should, since they cannot rely on the insular geek community for success; they need much greater numbers). And here we have a chance to get a guy who can really act, at least in this kind of role. Who the fuck cares what color he is? Would you rather have Keanu, or Kevin Costner, or some other white guy that can't act? Jackson is perfect IMO -- the typical "SLJ" attitude matches up perfectly with the Nick Fury attitude.

And shuddup about the Black Panther, who was clearly written specifically as an African-origin character and oft involved in civil rights issues. Totally different thing.

And as for the Falcon/Robin remarks...yes, those are the same. A white Falcon appearing in a Captain America movie would indeed be like an African-American Robin appearing in a Batman movie, in the sense that both are stupid characters regardless of race and both should be excluded from ALL movies, again regardless of race.

I Have To Disagree
by Barron34
Jun 21st, 2007
11:07:20 AM
I'm sorry, but I have to disagree with those who say that if you think Nick Fury should be played by a white guy, you are a racist. I grew up on Marvel comics in the 70s, and practically learned to read from The Avengers. You want your childhood heroes and archetypes to remain as they were. Nick Fury is a character that has been around since WWII, with his Howling Commandos, up until becoming S.H.I.E.L.D. Director in modern times. I know that he is Black in the Ultimates, and Sam Jackson is a great actor, but Old School fans such as myself want to see our old heroes on the screen as we grew up with them, not the alternitive versions in the non-canonical Ultimates. Again, this is not racist, and I find it insulting that this is implied or stated by others. The Ultimates stuff may sometimes be interesting, but it is not true Marvel to someone who grew up on the classic stuff. There are plenty of great Black characters in the Marvel Universe that I would love to see on film. I would especially like to see a Black Panther film. Lawrence Fishburne would be great for that role. Anyway, I would be psyched to see Sam Jackson in just about any role, but he just isn't Nick Fury to my mind's eye.

is PRECISELY his geekness. The man can turn shit into lead (Deep Blue Sea, xXx, SWAT) and lead into gold. And he starred in what is in my humble motherfuckin opinion the best comic flick to date (Unbreakable - OK it's not technically a comic flick, and it's a M. Night Shenanigan movie: start the hating fools!) BUT he showed he can sell out his geekness big time with the prequels, and Singleton's so-called "Roundtree sequel/reboot" (can't even call it by its name). So, we better be CAUTIONOUSLY optimistic.

You know, to be honest it used to irritate the shit out of me that DC and Marvel films didn't stick to continuity...However, I'm now comfortable with the fact that the Film 'universes' of these characters are essentially their own line with their own set of rules. If they want to cherry pick the best elements from all of the different versions out there then I'm happy with that. I LOVE the Ultimates version of Fury and am fucking delighted he'll be in the film and if they want to mix that up with old school universe Iron Man then all the better...Wasn't overly excited about this film, but that's all changed now...

What the FUCK are racists doing in this fucking talkback?? I thought comic geeks were good people? Who gives a shit if Batman is played by a black person or a white person?!

Tell me that mother fucking Denzel Washington wouldn't kick the ever loving shit out of everyone who's been batman so far. Fuck... Wesley Snipes PLAYED Batman in the Blade movies and Blade 2 was THE best Batman movie to date.

If you can't handle a character who was white being played by someone who's black... you are a mother fucking racist mother fucker. And you are a pretty pathetic racist when you can't even handle comic book movie characters being played by different races. Wow. So much for all the talk about how comics are mature and readers are mature and how it's not just a kids thing.

This is why comic geeks get dismissed and marginalised. Because when it finally does come to what matters in REAL LIFE... they are anything but mature. And NOBODY respects a 30, 40, 50 year old kid who can't handle having a comic book character be played in a movie by a black actor?!

Guess what fuckers?? All the fucking comic characters are fucking white! Cause america was still fucking racist and couldn't deal with black heroes. Oh, yeah, except the who 3 of them that anyone was able to sneak out.

"But it's about continuity" Lieing mother fuckers. That's like people saying that white and black people shouldn't marry because of the cultural differences. It's a bullshit excuse for racism.

I can't believe anyone who complains that Nick Fury is played by a black actor has the nerve to even say it to the world... even in Talkback.

How in the world anyone didn't get the moral of EVERY FUCKING COMIC EVER MADE about right and wrong and standing up against oppression... If you have a problem with a black Nick Fury... you are NO comic lover.

Is that allowed? Can I feel that way and say so?

If they want their opinion to matter in a public forum, they had better handle it being critisized.

Back in the 60's when Stan Lee, Jack Kirby, and everyone else were creating legends, they also lived in a culture where civil rights was still growing as a movement. White America was the only thing that existed for popular media. It's all you saw on TV, in the movies, and in the comics. There were one or two memorable pioneers in the medium, like Sydney Poitier in movies. Stan Lee and Jack Kirby tackled it a few times with the creation of Black Panther and the Al Harper character in Silver Surfer. But that was about it until the Blaxploitation era of the 70's and the rise of Luke Cage. Someone in an above post mentioned "archtypes." That's exactly it. Until recently, the main creators of movies, TV, and comics were white folks, European Americans, and they came up with their material with a white audience in mind. And this ideal archtypical idea of what the movie or comic hero should be became burned into popular culture, a white guy or a white girl. Well, we no longer live in White America. (though Mark Burnett's reality TV shows still try to tell us different). Our popular culture is slowly attempting to make up for centuries of disenfranchising. So please help the cause and get over your "archtype" ideal of what a classic character's race should be. Invisible Girl is Jessica Alba, Nick Fury is Sam Jackson, and your future President of the United States might just be...

The Nick Fury character has been treated with an anti-aging regimen in some mystery-shrouded versions of his backstory. And obviously he became an officer after serving as a sergeant in WWII. Sometimes non-comms go to officer candidate school. Is this too unbelievable in a comic-book universe where men fly and shoot lasers from their eyes and giant aliens come down from the sky to devour the Earth? *****Finally, yes, Fury is a secondary character, but he is an ICONIC and IMPORTANT secondary character in the Marvel Universe. One of the most important things about Fury is that he helps to tie many members of the Marvel Universe together, and is often an important source of exposition in the stories he is a supporting charcter in. He represents governmental authority in a way that no other character does, not even Captain America or the corporatist Iron Man. Anyway, Fury is not a throw-away character to Old School fans like myself. I was an especially big Captain America fan when I was a kid, and Nick Fury is an integral part of the Captain America mythos (don't get me started on the whole "Death of Captain America" thing). *****Anyway, it is not racist to point out that race is a component of character, just like gender, religion, hair color, personality, etc. I would be royally pissed if they made a Captain America movie with a Falcon who wasn't African-American, or if they made Steve Rogers an American Indian, or the Black Widow a man. Heck, I'd be pissed if they gave Steve Rogers red hair. That doesn't mean I hate people with red hair. It just means that I'd prefer to see the characters I grew up with portrayed with the hair color, gender, whatever that they had for the years and decades that I have read about them. It means no disrespect to anyone whatsoever. This whole issue is something of a tempest in a tea-pot.

I'm a big Sam fan and all; and I understand that he is a big comics fan, which is cool! I still would not have cast him. They didn't call and ask my view, so, too bad!;=) While I respect many people who read Ultimate Books, I personally don't care for them. That said, this is a Hollywood production, and we all know that Hollywood doesn't give a SHIT about what the hardcore fans want! They prove it with every comic based film, even the few decent ones that slip through! I've long since realized that comic book adaptations to film are never gonna be 100% faithful, even when written and directed by people who CLAIM to be fans of the characters. It SUCKS, but what can we do?

I think it's the way you said it rather than what you're saying. But honestly, I seriously doubt it's a racist reaction. In fact, to me it seems a LOT like the nipples on Batman, flames on Optimus reaction. People just want a moving version of the comics. If they made Superman's suit red instead of blue, people would be up in arms. Doesn't mean they think blue's better than red. With Nick Fury I don't understand their concerns but I certainly wouldn't call it racist.

I've gone through the feedback and it looks like legitimate opinions people are giving. Throwing racism out as a reason is just plain silly if there is no reason to justify it. The people shouting racism on this TB are the ones who are spreading the hate and definitely showing it. I've not seen hateful comments otherwise. I've not read comic books in years, but I do prefer what I grew up with. I've seen some of the Ultimates stuff over the past couple years when I was browsing at stores, and I really don't care for the re-invention of the characters...sorry. I'm sure Sam Jackson will be just fine as the character, but that doesn't mean I have to love the whole Ultimates thing and not prefer the classic stuff.

Yea the new series is much closer to the comics than the original series, April is not a reporter but Baxter's assistant as she was portrayed in the books, no bebop or rocksteady, Splinter is was originally a rat turned into... a man rat lol. Except for FastForward, the new TMNT series is just damn fantastic.

these guys were complaining because, you know... there are two Nick Fury: one with whom they grew up, and the new one. They want to stick with their childhood memories, and whether there is an underlying racism or not you couldn't fuckin tell unless you knew personally the Talkbacker. EVERY FUCKING TB has some tight-assed guy misinterpreting (consciously sometimes - that's trolling) other's POV.

It is dangerous and volatile to accuse people of racism without being certain that is the case. It can be like the Boy Who Cried Wolf. Yelling "racism!" without really discussing what is going on will not, in itself, solve anything. And for those who said there are no Black superheroes, try: the Black Panther (a great character that I have always loved, a superhuman athlete and noble scientist from the super-technolgically advanced country of Wakanda; a character that I think deserves his own lavish, big budget summer movie; I think Lawrence Fishburne would be great as T'Challa, as I have stated before); Luke Cage/Power Man, a great second-tier character who has first tier potential, and who arose out of the Civil Rights Era and as a response to Blaxploitation; The Falcon, a supporting character to Captain America, but a great character that reflected America and helped to address race in America; Storm from the X-Men- the first truly great character that is both Black and a Woman, a character that has a great legacy and continues to thrive both in comics and in film; Blade, the Vampire Hunter, a cool 70s horror comic character that Wesley Snipes personified on film and who jumpstarted the entire superhero movie boom we are undergoing now. Could there be more Black superheroes? Yes, but to say there are none and have been none is not at all accurate.

Read what Chishu_Ryu wrote. That is exactly what it is.

And let's look at what was said above again... and I did not take a single one out of context.

"Are we supposed to overlook the fact that he's BLACK by ToddBoddy"

"ARGH!!! Nick IS White!! by Cpt Shaw"

"Next Up... Steve Martin IS Black Panther! by Long Tooth"

"But about the racial issue:

by DerLanghaarige

Doesn't matter if you are a racist or not, Nick Fury has been white for ages! Imagine what would happen if they would cast a white actor as Shaft!"

"Nick Fury is not "black nowadays"...

by Sledge Hammer

...there's a completely seperate version of him that happens to be black in the comparitively very small section of the Marvel Universe that covers the various Ultimate related books, in the other 95% of what consists of the regular Marvel Universe and Marvel Titles he's still the original classic (and white) Nick Fury that he's always been, so why don't you "get with the times" fuckwit."

"I guess once Nick Fury went black....

by Long Tooth

...he never went back? It's not that people are against a black hero. Far from it, it's just that Fury’s been white for - I don't know - 40 years? And he's still around in the “Mainstream Marvel Universe”. The Ultimate version has been around for maybe 5 years? Keep things in perspective. It’s not racism, it precedent and history."

"Hasselhoff was the best

by tonamania"

"Sam Jackson as Nick Fury?

by Abominable Snowcone

NO! Where the hell do they get the idea to cast a black African American typecast actor in the role of a scruffy but tough, middle aged WHITE guy? Sam has his great moments, but this role just isn't for him. This would be better for someone like, oh, TOM JANE"

"Fucking retarded

by ScamsAndFlams

for a variety of reasons, YES including the fact that they switched Nick Fury's race for absolutely no reason. (i know they did this in the ultimates or whatever the fuck, don't bother)"

Sorry if someone else already posted this, but wasn't it the case that Ultimate Nick Fury was essentially General Hager in Fantastic Four 2? It seems like that movie drew more from the Ultimate Galactus storyline than the original Lee/Kirby version. I love the new Fury, he has that ambivalent quality that you only see in comics of recent years. When he's written in the right way, you really don't know whether he is in the right or wrong, he is just there, like any powerful enigmatic figure.

But I think you are mixing up racism with folks who don't like change in their established comic book histories/lore. Those comments are from people who don't like the fact they are using the newer Ultimates background for Nick Fury. If someone prefers the old Nick Fury to the new Ultimates one, that doesn't make them racist does it? Now go back and read the racist accuser comments. Who is preaching hate? I think you have created an issue where one didn't exist. As I said before, I think Sam Jackson will do fine, but I don't want the Ultimates universe taking over Marvel movies. Stick with the original stuff.

It's just a SHAME that such a discussion has to be about race! I love Sam Jackson as actor! I love Nick Fury as a comic book icon! Ok, it's not as if this will be the first time a fictional character's race has been changed. One instance that leaps to mind is that of Felix Lighter, James Bond's CIA buddy. He was played by the excellent actor Bernie Casey (Never Say Never Again). As a big Bond fan, I didn't cry about it. It wasn't the end of the world. Nor will Jackson playing Fury be. Like Casey, he'll do a great job! I would persoanlly prefer that when you cast a classic chacter from a comic, or a book, particularly one who has been established with a certain look, they should go with the traditional appearance. Is THAT a "RACIST" view? Kirby wasn't being a "racist" when he created Fury. He based him on a certain type of New York street kid that he had grown up with. Bringing race into this is just sad. It's also a bit childish!

It's unfair to call this Nick Fury stuff racist. Like a few others have pointed out, we grow up with preconcieved notions of who these characters are and what they look like. It's developed from comics, cartoons, and the toys we played with as kids. All of what we know derives from what we have stored in our heads. When someone changes our idea of what something is, whether it be flames on a robot, anatomically correct batsuits, or the ethnicity of a character, it threatens those memories. Sometimes it turns out kick ass, like I think this will, other times it's complete garbage. (Paul W.S Anderson's entire filmography.) I do see the Ultimate Marvel stuff as blaphsemy.
Fingers crossed....

I really hope this turns out to be a good movie. Early indications are pointing it is being done right. I just don't want it turning into that Ultimate Iron Man animated movie. That was garbage in my opinion. I think Sam Jackson's role will be limited and more of a brief intro to the character possibly because you don't want to distract from the main character in his movie debut.

...antonpdh? But keep right on trolling away trying to provoke a flamewar, no one's biting.

But for the record I said:

Nick Fury is not "black nowadays"...

...there's a completely seperate version of him that happens to be black in the comparitively very small section of the Marvel Universe that covers the various Ultimate related books, in the other 95% of what consists of the regular Marvel Universe and Marvel Titles he's still the original classic (and white) Nick Fury that he's always been, so why don't you "get with the times" fuckwit."

And which I immediately followed with:

And again... by Sledge Hammer

...if you're going to do Ultimate Nick Fury then this all makes perfect sense, and I have no problem with that, I just would have personally preferred the classic Nick Fury instead, that's all.

This was in direct response to:

Nick Fury is black nowadays you idiots

by Van Buren

Where have you been, get with the fucking times

And in previous posts I also said:

I don't care that he's black...

by Sledge Hammer

...I just don't like the way the character is portrayed in the Ultimate Universe compared to classic Nick Fury, simple as that.

I also posted:

Exactly, Long Tooth...

by Sledge Hammer

...like I said, I'm not haterizing on this, if you're going to do Ultimate Nick Fury, which is apparently is what they have chosen to do, then the casting of the face of Ultimate Nick Fury, Sam "shouty" Jackson himself, makes perfect logical sense. I just personally would have preferred for them to go with the classic version, because I prefer the classic character, and despite sharing a name and some conceptual similarities, they are two decidedly different characters at the end of the day. But it's Ultimate Nick they're going with (which in itself isn't unexpected) so there you have it.

And finally:

Yeah, that's true Ribbons...

by Sledge Hammer

...but if they take the face of Ultimate Nick Fury, but the character of regular Nick Fury, then to me they've done a disservice to the fans of Ultimate Nick Fury, who would naturally expect that's the character they are going to be getting on screen. If you cast Jackson then it should be the Ultimate character that you base everything else about him on, otherwise it just feels too much like trying to straddle the fence, which usually ends up pleasing niether side.

Yeah, I'm practically wearing a sheet on my head and burning crosses, aint I? But like I said, keep on trolling regardless.
