What the hell is the point of this? If Warners is going to put out a big budget summer movie, obviously THAT'S what's going to now be on everyone's minds -- young kids in particular -- so it would only make sense to pick up on that momentum and tie yourself into that film's look and revised mythos.

On the other hand if this is a licensing deal, where the two cannot intersect and must remain two different versions, then why the hell would you go with this totally lame ass "academy" concept? Just remake the original -- since THAT concept is what has lasted all these decades -- and simply deviate where you need to, in order to not step on the film's toes.

Those other two series were god awful. This one sounds like more of the same. For the love of all that is holy, at the very least make the new Racer X the son of the OLD Racer X instead of Speed's equally long lost son. C'mon!
