And while I'm ranting: what was the point of using the fire extinguisher in the hall scene? McClane throws the fire extinguish at the bad guys and fires at the canister so that it'll explode and send Mr faceless henchman out through the window. Wouldn't it be easier for McClane just to plug two holes into the guy's head. Or would that have that upset the censors?

You know, maybe PG-13 would stand for more "fu(gunshots)" if all the actors took a big hit of helium before they said "fu(gunshot)"? How bout that? Helium-tinged voices are cute and funny and the last thing you think about is the years of psycho-therapy needed for hearing the word "fu(gunshot)". {I'll wait for the DVD...Willis always makes for a fun movie one way or the other...but this puritanical bullshit has got to stop...we don't see Power-Rangers movies and kids shouldn't see Die-Hard movies...nuff said!)

TBers piss and moan about the quality of movies, and how the quality of this sequel and that sequel are so fucked and childhood's are being raped because of it... YET, so many of you in this case are pissing and moaning and basically prejudging a movie because of its RATING! Because it can't have enough f-bombs and because it can't have the exact same amount of blood and gore as the other DHs did. Frackin' hypocrits. As if those details make or break a movie. Basically, there have been plenty of pretty hard PG-13s in the past (Um, guy ripping out a heart in Temple of Doom???). The action is there by the looks of it. If you watched the Willis/Smith video, we finally see that the wisecracking McClane we love is there. It WILL feel different and odd at first I'm sure because we haven't seen a true DH movie since 1990 (I don't count DH3)! 17 years ago. We're so attached to those first two movies that yeah, it'll be weird seeing another one!

What naysayers want in my book is a retread of the first DH. They want McClane coming to visit family/wife. They want that building (or airport) to be taken over by terrorists and they want McClane crawling through elevator shafts. BULLSHIT. We've seen that movie. We loved it, but we've seen it. We've seen the various knockoffs of it too, both good and bad (Under Siege 1 and 2, Speed, that awful Van Damme flick, etc.). So give me something more. Something different. McClane is 20 years older than the guy we saw in DH. It'd be lame to see a retread.

Pretty damn good action movies overall with plenty of death and mayhem and even a few f-bombs. Point being... this whole PG-13 thing is being blown waaaay out of proportion. Quality does not = a certain rating. Ridiculous.

As long as he kills mother(gun shot)ers (I actually hate that new gun shot trend but I gotta use it once), I'm good. I don't NEED to see their heads blown off, brains on the wall, or fifty bloody squibs exploding on their chest. Who cares? They die. Get over it;)

BUT, PG-13 is not, and should not be the deciding factor for someone to not go see this flick and judge the final product rather than rely on trailers. Those flicks you mentioned had that edge... I agree. But the fact is, the rating system is so fucked that one movie rated PG-13 is fluffy as hell, while another (case in point Casino Royale among others) is pretty damn hard and looks like an R-Rated flick.

The core of the Die Hard films is John McClane. Not the f-bombs. Not the bloody kills. There are plenty of awful action movies with those extreme elements that have been forgotten and/or don't hold a candle to Die Hard because of that character. If that's there, then about 75% of what we love about Die Hard is there.

Anyway, I agree with you. Well said. But the PG-13 thing is still blown out of proportion until we actually SEE THE MOVIE. If it turns out to be fluff... then they fucked it up. If it turns out to be a pretty hard PG-13... then well done.

I for the record, I just rewatched Last Boyscout... a movie that I remembered as a gem in the action genre. Well, it's really pretty awful. It reminded me of Arnold's LAST ACTION HERO. Full of action cliches to the extreme. The only saving factor is Willis... who is pretty much John McClane in that one too.

Shame to see the DH franchise go out with not a bang, not even a whimper, but a 'Meh'.
