Its PG-13 in the states but rated 15 here in the UK. I am sure it's still tame but it may not be that tame. I still don't like the look of it far too glossy and Michael Bay-ish and not enough grit or realism. MICHAEL BAY HAS DESTROYED THE AMERICAN ACTION GENRE!!! *sigh* that felt good to get of my chest.

It was scripted, filmed, and edited aiming for a PG13, it was NOT cut down for that rating. Therefore there is no "hardcore" R-rated version to put out on DVD. More language or blood was never filmed. They went into this whole thing with a PG13 plan, according to Walter B himself.

I don't like it either, but I've accepted it, as should you all.

I thought it was actually pretty decent. I didn't see the first one, and I HATE all the Saw films with a fiery passion, but it had a sense of humor about itself and was entertaining - and never gory just for gore's sake....okay, I take that back - but at least it had CHARACTERS - something no Saw film I've seen yet has had. With that said - I think releasing ten minutes of a film online is a really, really dumb move - especially if it appears to have been done randomly, and just to generate a little MORE hype for an already-super-hyped summer blockbuster.

The fact alone that Michael Bay's name has been invoked seems to indicate Suckville. I know everyone is gonna reply "money", but that just seems retarded. An R rating hasnt kept the recently release 300 from making LOTSA money. It also didn't keep the previous films from making money. Plus, if anything to the film's producers should realize a PG-13 should actually keep people, especially the film's fan base away from the film since they will see the film has been heavily toned down and censored. LAME IDEA! Whats sad is the film will probably do even worse than it would have because of the new rating.

After watching that complete snore fest my suspicions look to be true. This movie is going to be a complete piece of shit. Underworld was overrated bs and I never understood why it was a hit. Len Wiseman is completely wrong for a Die Hard movie. You can't do Matrix rip-off crap with a Die Hard movie and that's pretty much all Underworld was.

SEriously, how many clips does 1 man carry??? I mean come the friggin hell on! This is a cop going on a routine patrol. I know several piloce officers who walk hard beats and they carry like 3 or 4 clips max. McClain expended like 7 clips was was still reloading. You remember in old Hollywood action movies when the hero would fire his gun seemingly indefinitely without having to reload? Well it seems they have found a new cliche. A hero who needs to reload but apparently carries around enough spare ammo to refight The Battle of the Bulge. Other than that nonsense. The footage wasnt so bad. IT was actually fairly decent. Not terrible by any means, but certainly nothing compelling or enticing.

Jun 19th, 2007
02:11:53 PM
I'm reserving judgement until I see the whole movie, but I'm still a bit concerned about the whole R-rated thing. Nothing Bruce said here has made me feel any different. I also don't agree on the whole movie costs too much to be R-rated. Look at The Departed, it cost 90 million dollars, and that made a hell of a lot of money. I believe that it doesn't matter if it's rated R, if it's a good story, and has good characters, people will come. Plus these Hollywood budgets have gotten out of control. I mean fuck comedies are costing 90million plus anymore, and why? If you need that much money to film a straight comedy you have no business being in the movie industry. That's just wasteful, but it's become a sad reality in these times. They think that if they throw more money at something that it will get better. I miss the days when a film-maker would take a small budget, and be creative enough to make it something beyond the budget. The gun fight in the footage wasn't bad, but like I said I have to see the whole movie before I'll even consider passing judgement. I still believe that there's no way this will be as good as the first DieHard. And is it me, or does everything Len Wisman shot seem like he's trying to rip off James Cameron?

here's a theory: fox is fucking pissed off at aintitcoolnews.com for posting that early review of fantastic 4. studio executives ordered bruce not to say a word of the older die hards. so, no rocky balboa-style promo from the action star to his fans. shame, 'cuz I really sent some fucking good questions to willis regarding live free or die hard. anybody heard tony jaa was considered as a villian? what was carmine zozzora influence on bw's career? how much was john mctiernan involved? (he is credited as a producer in the new sequel) and wasn't die hard with a vengeance supposed to be at first a prequel to the original. would willis agree to star opposite demi moore in a red hot thriller involving sex scenes (like color of night)? so many questions... too much pussy feeling surounding this anticipated movie. something inside me is starting to die... soft.

It's been "MOVIE NOT YET RATED" while pretending that he says "Yipee Kayah Moth...". Personally, I always found his 'catchphrase' embarrassing and nonsensical, but that's just a personal indifference to the term motherfucker, but to pretend it's in the film when it clearly is being cut out to make more money as a PG-13 is fucking lame and treats us all like the retards the makers clearly think we are. Bruce was just trying to save face by pretending to be upset about it not being a hard R so he doesnt look like such a pussy when it hits to poor reviews, but with all the clout he has in Hollywood, he could have made sure this film was an R LONG before it got to the editing stage. Okay, it's a crappy format and I'm watching it on a crappy computer at work (hi, boss!) so I'll reserve some bile until I watch it tonight, but...wasn't it always the case that Bruce's gun sounded like a an anti-aircraft gun going off? I always remember the sheer concussive blast when he fired it, much like Indy's hand cannon. Was it realistic? No, but damn if it didn't make you cringe when you watched the films in a theater.

Knowthyself, you're right -- McClane missed a guy standing 12 feet away from him. The explosion had to kill him. Are we going to see a movie where the hero doesn't kill anyone but the final bad guy? And, let's face it, they'll probably 'Patriot Games' that, too -- oh, look, a broken keyboard and he's falling in just the right way...*splutch* Off screen, of course.

Oh, to hell with it: WOULDN'T MCCLANE NORMALLY DRIVE THAT DUDE'S HEAD THROUGH A FUCKING PLANK THEN FIRE THROUGH HIS BODY TO GIVE HIMSELF COVER?!? Everyone's dead but John, who'd a bloody mess and isn't that how we want to see him?

the real non-h8r fans are concerned with the character, the style and the tone of the movie. Personally, I loved 1&2; liked 3. For this type of character/movie, the PG-13 makes alot of people (including me) nervous. I do hate Kevin Smith, I can't figure out this apple kid, and the whole tumbling car thing makes me nervous (although the last is a little reminiscent of twenty hand grenades being thrown into a cockpit with the hero ejecting to save his ass - hee hee - that was cool). And in the last 5-10 years, the studios have been making too many sequels and with the greater general audience in mind.

all u people thnking this will be good are a bunch of fucking plants. Die was great becae mclane was hardnosed and the first action hero that wasn't larger than life but gritty and tough. To make it PG 13 cheapens the character because violence is not pg 13. So to Metlar, FUCK YOU because your ridiculous comment saying we were fans of just the cursing, because that's part of john mclane's character. PG13 cheapens him as a character and willis as a director, you my friend are the kind of moron that would fine with a "pg-13" godfather, or a "pg-13" braveheart, you plant. P.S. Best line from die hard 1 "you should have heard your brother squeal when I broke his FUCKING neck!"

Conan. No doubt. With the fashion in which Hollywood has self-nuetered itself, I would rather not ever see King Conan: Crown of Iron ever come to fruition. Sadly, I am glad it died when it did. I will always love the first Conan. Everything was so great about that flick. My wife hates it, but I watch it at least once a year.

Slave. Barbarian. Warrior. Theif. Conan.

Gods, what a great score.

This TB is full of a bunch of haters. Sorry if I'm not ready to dump a load of shit all over this franchise just because McClane won't say FUCK a million times. The real basis to these movies is the action, not the profanity. I am a little bit concerned that it will be too soft on this go-around, but the clip looked good. I'll reserve judgement for after I see the movie. Of course I'm not expecting a movie that was better than the first, but that doesn't mean I won't enjoy revisiting the character again. You folks really need to calm down, go outside for five minutes and take a few breaths. Save your hating until after the movie comes out - only if necessary,

Seen it at a press screening on Friday here in Germany. But obviously Harry hasn't posted it yet and maybe won't anytime soon.

So, here's my review in a nutshell:

Surprisingly very good movie with a great cast and lots of cool action scenes. Maggie Q kicks ass (and Bruces)!

Unfortunately you see and hear that the movie is meant to be PG-13. THERE IS NOT ONE SINGLE F-BOMB IN IT!!!

The Yippi-ki-yay motherf*** line is intact, but the mofo part is kind of dubbed over by a gunshot. So the language is pretty much pussified.

And: a lot of guys get shot but there are no bloody exit wounds seen. That was pretty annoying.

I will save my hating. But this isn't the Bruce Willis from the past three movies.. we want the full package. the gun toting Mclane and his use of the the word fuck... after 3 movies. John Mclane should be down to a science... Guy gets in the middle of shit going down kills a shit load of bad guys unmercifully swears like a sailor.. Thats John Mclane... If John Mclane wasn't a House hold name we wouldn't be bitching (as much its the net thats what we do) But we know this person and invested into loving him (in a non gay way) and they messed i mean fucked it up.

All of you haters, who say that I'm not a real fan, are acting just like the millions of people in this country who would like to censor everything in the entertainmant industry - In the fact that you are forecasting the outcome of something without even seeing it. You all scream that it will suck, and tell me I'm stupid to shell out my money for this movie, as if you aren't all going to do the same. After all, you will have to see the movie to continue your hate fest of it, otherwise you'll just sound stupid - spewing about a movie you haven't even seen. hey dude, not many people know this, but in the original 1979 novel by Roderick Thorp called Nothing Lasts Forever, McClane (Leland in the book) is WWII vet who's visiting his daughter who works at an an oil company's skyscraper. The book is pretty freakin' rockin. I dug it up when I saw the first DH in high school. http://tinyurl.com/38knd7

Bruce if you're reading this please take a little of it to heart. I love your movies, I even liked Hudson Hawk (really I did, ok maybe i was on drugs but i still kind of enjoyed it). When I first saw you in moonlighting I thought this dude's gonna be a star... but a PG13 Die Hard? Really? why Bruce? I know you have a shitload of money already. did DEmi really take that much in the divorce? HOw can u pussify a great character like john mclane?...I mean cmon JOHN "YIPEE KAIYAY MOTHER FUCKIN" MCLANE. Why Bruce? Does Rupert Murdoch have dirt on you? does Fox send a different model over everyday to blow you? Cuz these would be the only reasons why I would even Thnk about sinking 11 bucks to see a pg13 die hard movie and Im a HUGE die hard fan. ONe more line from the DH1 "im gonna beat ya, then i'm gonna bake ya, then i'm gonna fuckin eat ya" i may have gotten that quote wrong but u get the gist.

He did accept the job, read the script, signed on, so on and so forth. Doesn't really matter. The film is done and the forth installment really won't count. A shame really. I was hoping for a more brutal McClane, if that's possible. Especially with him be older and his daughter in harm's way. I expected early Batman vs. DKR tougher. Yay Hollywood! Fuck the craft, it's all about money now. Only money. And FOX wonders why they get so much guff......

Arby's, whose food I love, is the fast food promotional partner for this POS. Have you seen their newest commercial where this guy does all this action movie stuff, grabs one of their new subs, and then yells, "Yippee ki yay!"? As we can plainly see, they're *still* pretending (read:lying) like McClane's going to be allowed to say his catchphrase. I watched "Die Hard 2: Die Harder" on Fox Movie Channel early the other morning for the millionth time. Those that would argue that a rating doesn't necessitate whether or not a film is good are correct. Case in point - "1408" is rated PG-13. I'm not going to bitch about it, as it's a ghost story and a character study. But when you have a franchise that's all about the pervasive personality and devil-may-care attitude of its main character and then the studio decides to truncate that all in the name of trying to line their coffers with money and skew the film toward a younger audience (when the previous films were for adult audiences), you negate what made the franchise such a success in the first place. But, as many of us know all too well, it's all due to two words. Separate they mean nothing. Together...well, they mean nothing together either, except that they represent one of the stupidest people on the planet: Tom Rothman He's the president of 20th Century Fox. Rothman's stupid ass is the reason that "X-Men: The Last Stand" and "Alien Vs. Predator" exist. What I find funny is that other upcoming movies this summer have already had their MPAA rating for months - Evan Almighty [PG], License To Wed [PG-13], Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix [PG-13], The Simpsons Movie [PG-13] - to name a few, yet Live Free Or Die Hard's rating wasn't released until just recently. The character of John McClane deserves better than the money-hungry machinations of a clueless suit.

They are allowed one or two "fucks" and like three times as many "shits" in a pg-13 movie. You know Fox piad a lot of money for the pg-13 rating and probably cut a lot of gun shot wounds. I also heard they did have to cut the movie down to a pg-13 so I do have hope for a better dvd release.

Tom Rothman is not half the exec Bill Mechanic used to be when he ruled Fox. And Fox under Mechanic's was largely as profitable, maybe more than now. On a sidenote, I read an interview once in a french mag where Alyssa Milano stated that while shooting Commando she wasn't a virgin anymore. She was like 13 or something?! I thought it would be an interesting anecdote in a PG-13 talkback. Oh, and a friend of mine saw the movie at the european premiere. He said it was "cool as balls". Plant?

It's all "market research" and "focus groups" and all that other fucking bullshit that dictates CREATIVITY! And the LYING. They LIED about Galactus. I am not familiar with the history of the Fantastic Four but I respect the history of it.

What LEGITIMATELY blows me away is how Fox takes an otherwise successful property and bastardizes it into submission.

PG-13, R? Normally, it doesn't matter to me as long as the movie's good. Heck, I saw a press screening of "Ratatouille"--a G rated movie--and it's my favorite flick of the summer. I think the PG-13 Talledega Nights is just as funny as the R-rated Knocked Up. But I cannot imagine a PG-13 Die Hard. I don't even know what FOX was thinking. I know everyone thinks it's a money issue--except that FOX was the company that had an R-rated hit with Borat last year and has no problem flooding the theaters with The Hills Have Eyes and 28 Weeks Later. Seriously, I'm not a fan of 4th movies normally. But I was looking forward to this. When does going from R for three movies down to PG-13 ever mean a good thing?? I'm not really a stickler for cussing, but John McClane is a character who's personality has been established over three films and we know that JOHN MCCLANE CUSSES! To cut that out is to betray a character that is beloved. And I don't doubt that action can still be intense in a PG-13 movie. The Bourne Movies and newest James Bond confirmed that. But those were films based around stunts and bloodless combat. This is DIE HARD! The series in which John McClane shot out a terrorist's knees, stabbed a man in the eye with an icicle and cut a man in half with a car winch. Not to mention the fact that this is a series that set a precedence for men taking thei sons to their first R-rated film. An R-rating for Die Hard should have been a sure thing, just like you'd never expect a PG13 for Alien or Predat. . . oh.

And then there was the first Die Hard, with the building exploding and Willis having half a face shot.

I just wish this would've been bad ass. I was actually looking forward to this withing 3 months ago, but alas, Hollywood has fucked another thing that was once good.

Just finished watching the preview, what's with the gernade disguised as a fire extinguisher? Quite a clever disguise if I do say so myself. McClane knew it was highly explosive because he has a sixth sense for these things. I'm also curious about the exploding computer or computer attached to the bombs. He said he was powering down his computer, but instead he left it on the "do you want to blow the fuck out of your room?" screen and the Terminator hit enter. Kind of a bad decision to leave it on that screen, very unsafe! Also, I'm assuming the Terminator falling on the computer was meaningful, because he 'terminated' that terrorist dude. Fucking brilliance, this movie is clearly going to be the best movie of the year. No..wait, all of that was retarded.

Why do action movies suck so much now? Have I just grown up? There are some occasional good ones (Casino Royale was nice) but for the most part they are just tiring. Where is the nudity? Why do audiences dislike it? I don't get it. I remember awhile ago I was talking to a guy at work about Hostel and he was all complaining about the nudity. "God the first half of the movie was gross, my girlfriend and I were going to walk out, but the rest was great". What the hell is wrong with people? Where is my dancing Playmate popping out of the birthday cake? Where is my three-breasted stripper? Don't even get me started on LOTR. 10+ hours of footage and not one bare chest, male or female, in any of it. Who films 10+ hours of guys fighting monsters with swords and axes... with their shirts on???? I mean WTF??? I don't know, we need to get back to the basics. Blood, guns, breasts, monsters, and artful swearing. I am tired of these watered down PG-13 action pictures that serve as little more than background noise for the endless cacophony of cell phone conversations, text messaging, YouTube-approved MST lines, food munching, remarks about how "fucking high!!!!" people are, and other assorted aspects of your typical teenage social gathering. I want to feel something at the movies again. I want to BELIEVE. I'm losing my faith.

Carl Winslow. But seriously. I mean, isn't it bad enough that Fox has to hire a fuckin' video game director to helm this film. But then they have to COMPOUND the insult when they aim for a PG-13 rating. What the hell is this? I just got back from seeing FF: ROTSS with a wonderful teenage audience: They talked the entire film and switched seats at whim thus distracting and obstructing my view! And this is the "audience" the studio is marketing the film to? A bunch of bee-hived teens who probably saw the ad for this abomination during the latest episode of Laguna Beach? Fuck 20th Century Fox. As far as I'm concerned this is sacrilege. I'll be staying in on June 29th.

I think it was you who said that people who are angry about the PG-13 were not fans of the characters and stories, but of the cursing and killing. Well think of it this way bud. If somebody made a movie about Jesus, E.T. or Superman where they cursed like a sailor (or John McClane) and hung people up from chains saying they were gonna "fuckin cook ya and then I'm gonna fuckin eat ya" like a psycho (or John McClane) it would be, in my opinion, a little out of character. And if I was mad about that you wouldn't say "I thought you were a fan of E.T., but really you were just a fan of his vocabulary and his peaceful nature." The fact is, saying fuck and dying hard is a VERY big part of the character and the stories. JOHN MCCLANE GOTTA BLEED.

I think Fox is gonna end up REALLY regretting this senseless decision. I got my personal guarantee from Bruce, so I'm gonna see the movie and I'm praying to the Lord above that I will like it. But really, during the months I have been excited about this I haven't found that many people who are there with me. I've seen an audience go fuckin nuts for the stupid transforming robots trailer and seen Die Hard greeted with silence. I have had people I didn't think were as hardcore about Die Hard as me say they aren't interested in seeing it because of the PG-13. I have also talked to people who didn't even know there was a new one being made - and the movie comes out in a week. It's just sad, there ought to be so much excitement but it's hard to get your hopes up knowing the limits they put on the thing.

If the movie fails it might be partly because kids don't give a shit about McClane. They only care about Harry Potter and robots that their parents played with, but not the greatest action movie of all time. That may be but it will also be because they told the grownups and the grown up kids who watched the original series to go mister falcon themselves. But they will blame it on piracy or the weather or a lack of patriotism or on the Walter B talkback.

That's exactly right. Movie companies NEVER take responsibility for the movie's failure. It's never because of the fucking content. It's because the movie is released at the wrong time, or the marketing was off, or there wasn't enough Thomas the Tank Engine. It couldn't be because people want John McClane to a balls-to-the-wall action hero to fuck up everyone who gets in his path.

And that's precisely why those of you calling for boycotts WON'T be heard. Because if the movie does poorly, it won't be because of your shitty boycott. They'll come up with some other insane fucking reason why the movie bombed and tell you to fuck yourself and next year they're gonna come out with Daddy Die Hard where John McClane finds out he has an illegitimate child and has to fight off bullies at a school to protect his new kid from teachers and red pens. Because focus groups show that parents LOVE a family man!

Also, part of the FUN is the humour in the violence...

...and the nervous laughter it garners from the audience. Like when that bloke got cut in two by that cable, or that bloke got shot in the bollocks. It was darkly funny, and I think that's going to be completely removed from this film. This is looking more and more like Metal Gear Solid The Movie - not that that's a bad thing. It's just not Die Hard.

Seriously as a non-retarded adult you should not be deciding if you see a movie based on some person on a message board, although neither should you be based on studio promises either.

Each to their own choices. I am just of the same school as Vern, I believe the original Die Hard is as close to action movie perfection as Hollywood has ever got. The reasons for that are myriad, and are available in my upcoming book, or for those too cheap, in a still active Vern talkback on a website not a million miles away.

Those varying factors require one thing though, for it not to be given the pre-teen friendly PG-13 rating. It isn't about swearing or violence per-se, it is about being true to the character and the heart, of the original classic.

Vern has his cast-iron guarantee, and needs to see it because his review is probably the most eagerly awaited review this site has seen in years. I however, made a decision that I wouldn't see it. I wasn't going to reward them with my cash. Does it mean anything to the people who make these decisions, these Ellises? No of course not. The film will make money, and they will feel vindicated. It will lead to more of the same kind of decision making, and everyone will bitch, and very few will just vote with their money. That is life.

Something got lost along the way, now well constructed movies are somehow only supposed to be seen in art-house theatres.

Anyway I am rambling... And I am starting to think we are being unfair to the memory of Ellis, he did after all manage to provide hearty entertainment, even if it was inadvertent. More than can be said of the Ellises behind this decision...

Ya know, in the first DH, there were scenes with McClain talking to a salesman about "making fists with his toes" in carpet, arguing with his separated wife, talking about where to stay in LA...If you had a 6 minute preview of those scenes, you'd be calling the original DH boring, too. And, do you really only care about the profanity?!? Here... here ya go... "FUCK SHIT FUCK FUCK MOTHER FUCKER GODDAMN SHIT FUCK" There's some profanity. Big fucking deal. How about if we give some attention to the many other things to enjoy in a movie? You're probably the kind of people who would demand that James Bond have a ridiculous gadget and stupid kiss-off line, and then complain that the movie was crappy because it was wearing out its clichês. Sheesh... how in the hell do you people consider yourselves true movie fans when you make such broad judgments on a film you haven't seen, based on its rating, its lack of profanity, and a 6 minute clip? You guys are about as bright as Alaska in winter.

As Bruce said in one of the previous talkbalks this Die Hard is as hardcore as any of the others. If thats true then its increbibly irresponible of the studio to be marketing this film at a younger audience.Die Hard was and to me will always be the ultimate adult action film franchise. Here in the U.K. it is being promoted on Mars,Snickers and various other chocolate bars never thought id see that. The buck has to stop with Bruce Willis though. This film would never have been greenlit without his involvement. He had wether he would admit it or not the power to get this film made and should have ensured we would be getting a proper Die Hard movie.

This movie really doesn't have much of a chance to make a dent in the box office. Ratatouille will end up taking a huge chunk of change when it releases a couple of days later. Then it has Transformers the next week followed by Harry Potter's next film? This just makes me even sadder to think that Fox really could have marketed this for adults and put an R-rating on it as a nice alternative but I suppose that would make too much sense.

1) Music had some nice nods to Kamen's classic scores, especially in the hallway scene with the pizz. strings motif. Cool. 2) More violent than I would expect for PG-13 3) Lighting was overdone in that Scott style. Shame. Direction wasn't too bad, but NOTE: FAST CUTTING DOES NOT EQUAL EXCITING. Thank you. Watch Die Hard and Predator to see how it's done when the big boys play. 4) Kid wasn't as horrible as I thought he would be. 5) Overall give it a pass - but only barely. Where was the unrestrained violence of John's past? Still, it *will* be a hit, despite anything said here.

I am equally baffled by this notion that 'at least Bay does action well', because I don't get that at all. His action scenes are horrible, uninspired, choppy messes. The only action scene of his I thought was okay was the bit in Bad Boys II that he stole from a Jackie Chan film (Police Story?). Otherwise, shit.

I'll tell you what he does well, though: panning shots of people getting out of cars at sunset. Michael Bay OWNS that shot, just like Hitchcock owns the zoomy thing from Vertigo and Spike Lee owns that floaty thing he does in many of his films. If Die Hard was about panning shots of people getting out of cars at sunset, I would agree Bay would be a good choice. But that's not what Die Hard is about, so I will stick with Boondock Devil's inspired suggestion of Shane Black.

It's true that McClane doesn't use "fuck" but instead we hear "ass", "jerkoff" and "shit" a lot of times, and that's working quite well.

And as I said before: the Yippie-Ki-Yay Mofo line is in there, too. Completely. (The mofo part is a bit dubbed over by a gunshot).

Quite why people post messages along the lines of "Come on, guys, why argue about who's the better director?" in a film-related discussion board is utterly beyond my comprehension. It blows my mind, just like it would no doubt blow the minds of the footballers if I ran onto the field and tried to make them see that kicking a ball into a net is a waste of time.

To make the analogy complete, I would then steal the ball away from the players and kick it into the goal myself, much like you chastised the talkback for complaining about directors and then threw in a dig at Uwe Boll.

First of all, let me say that I am pretty flattered. (Even though you got my name wrong - Its Metlar, not Metallo.) Guess I was either pretty insightful, or a really big jerkoff.... Anyway, I agree with you and the point you make 100%. If you go back and read all of my posts, I actually state that the PG13 does indeed have me concerned. I'm actually just hating on all of the haters in here, who want to pass judgement on something they HAVENT SEEN - JUST LIKE ALL OF THE DAMN POLITICIANS WHO WOULD CENSOR THE SHIT OUT OF OUR ENTERTAIMENT INDUSTRY IF GIVEN THEIR WAY!!!!!!!! Yes, I think any fan of DIE HARD who is willing to not even give this movie a chance is not a real fan. I am bracing myself for dissapointment, but I am going to reserve judgment for after I see the movie. Perhaps the writing will be creative, and give some sort of reason why John is toned down that will make it OK or tolerable... Who knows? (Perhaps they will address this in a comical way - like have him trying to change for his kid or his dead grandma by not being so violent and profane - who knows how they'll spin it? The fact that John Connor told Arnie not to kill anyone in T2 kind of made his lack of ultra violence tolerable.) And of course the biggest laugh of all of it are the folks who think they're going to take down FOX by getting together with 4 of their friends and not seeing the movie. Summary - If you are a real fan, go see the movie. If it suck (like it very well may) then let 'er rip...Tear it apart, I'll join you. But until then, give poor Bruce the benefit of the doubt. I think the school would frown upon it. I think they would frown upon the excessive amount of swearing on here. I mysel am no too fussed about the rating but I don't know how a PG-13 translates here. 12A or 15? either way it will bring a whole new genration to the good ol' MF line. Which means for months to come kids will be screaming it everywhere thinking they are "boss".

I have seen nothing from the trailers or this that has me thinking this will be any different than any of the dozens of "action" films that have made their way to the screen over the last decade. In other words, it will fail to match up to ANY of the previous Die Hards, let alone the first one, and will be quickly forgotten. When McClane says he's going to kill them all, he better damn well kill them all in brutal action, tooth for tooth. None of these off-screen deaths. We want McClane to work for it.

Hint to studios, don't advertise that you know the movie IS ABSOLUTELY GREAT because you've already seen it. It marks you as an insider, asshats.

or dumbass, dumbass, dumbass. You basically just said i am going to see this even thought it looks bad because it's got the die hard name. I am going to give these MORONS my $10 opening weekend so they can continue to make watered down versions of movies. You are exactly the kind of morons they made this movie for. So idiots like u can see this in the theater and give it box office so the studio exec can say " see i told u if we just put the die hard name on it they'll see it." If you're a die hard fan and must see it then why not rent it when it comes out on dvd but don't give it box office money becuz thats how they make bad sequals like this.

I'll see it on cable. But a few of my friends will at least be paying for LForDH tix when they indulge their transformer curiousities in July. Seems few peopel I know will justify paying $11 for that Bay crapfest of "mass audience pandering."
And, YES, I know that's "Wrong", but

one way to save the film would be to have john hodgman play movie's the villain. oh well, too late now. nobody ever consults me on these things. if they did, they wouldn't get themselves into these pickles.

It says something about being removed b/c of 20th Century Fox copyright claim. I think maybe cyber-terrorists hacked the system and removed it.

Just kidding, because that would be really gay. Cyber-terrorists! What a joke! Wait, you mean...

Kill Bill upped the ante for action movies.

Sorry, but after watching the Bride slaughter 88 sword-wielding maniacs, most new action movies lack that zing that makes them interesting. Tarentino is hit or miss for me, but Kill Bill is a definite hit.
