"gotta eat" has jumped the shark now that composers are using it... farewell rest in peace with "This year's little Miss...", "the sexiest beanpole tomboy", "...oh yeah brotha", "F U Michael Bay", actually that last one never gets old.

makes the articles on soundtracks/composers that much more engaging. can't describe my own appreciation of film music as eloquently. incidentally, i just got the 20th anniversary edition of the original transformers soundtrack. don't know if synth scores are your cup of tea, but i love me some vince dicola.

First, you manage to sour about half your audience by pulling the "bait & switch" with "Terabithia's" marketing (I LOVED the film, BTW), now you are going to BURY the masterful score for it. I got the soundtrack CD, and I don't appreciate having to navigate through the warblings of Hayden Panetierre and Annasophia Robb to get to the woefully under-represented score. Grrrrrrr......
Yeah it's an aged interview...

supercowbell: I did conduct this interview awhile back. By the time I was able to get it ready for posting TERABITHIA had finished its theatrical run so I decided to hold off until the DVD release. I'll try not to do that again. acne: I LOVE the transformers score too. I picked up the same edition myself. playkins: No kidding. I thought by now they'd have a decent score release. It's really a great score and although they release just about every score to hit the streets these days BTT looks like it won't. Shame.

The audio was cool for me too. I had no idea he was even at the piano until he started playing. It kind of surprised me. I thought,"that's so cool." I should make it a requirement for all future interviews that the composers sit at the piano and play everything they're talking about for us.

Great interview, BTW. Thanks for putting up the audio. I think Aaron Zigman and James Newton Howard are now my favorite contemporary film composers.

Acne Scarface was talking about the 1984 film TRANSFORMERS: THE MOVIE which was scored by Vince DiCola. It's a great 80's synth sci-fi score. Nostalgic and fun through and through. I haven't heard the new TRANSFORMERS yet but very anxious to.
Terabithia was a fraud

This movie was promoted as a child fantasy film, with magical effects. Now that they are selling the DVD the same approach is being used. Yet the movie was a major fraud, with 20 sec. of what the audience expected to see and the rest was dull ordinary farm life. The kids I took, hated it, and we saw people walking out. Mozart could have done the music and it would have not made a shred of difference. This bait and switch film was un-worthy of Disney.
just want to say.... scorekeeper, you da man.
