Unlike the first which tried its hardest NOT to be liked, this one is GREAT (I said it) if you let that 10 year-old out, as Latauro said.

I mean, what's wrong with a FAMILY comic-book movie?
So, FF42 is good because you expect it too really suck

right. Do we really want to see this giant dude with a purple helmet? I think the "just off screen" treatment was right on although I wouldn't have minded something like they came up with in Matrix Revolutions with nano-bots becoming the face of Galactus.

and without much of the emo and angsty crap infesting and spoiling so many of these superhero movies these days. It could have done without the Alba nakedness (I can't believe I typed that) and one or two other crap jokes, but it was fun and didn't go on for too long.

You were able to enjoy Stallone's GET CARTER!!! That's when you lost all credibility and lost me as a consequence. I'll avoid AICN-Downunder from now on.
FF:ROTSS WAS FUN

Saw it twice. This mindless comic book fun was worth every penny and more enjoyable than Spider-man 3 and X3. The Fantasticar sequences really made it seem like an FF4 movie. That Doom on the surfboard was TOTALLY in the character of Doc Doom... always power hungry for no reason. However, Jullian was cool this time but needs a voice effect when he has on the mask. He sounds too much like Steve Buscemi which is more annoying than menacing. Tim Story might be the go to guy once he works out the remaining kinks (that dance number sucked)

Ignoring the fact that you claim FF2 is good just because it was better than the utter disaster you expected, but you go on to say Chris Evans is funny and a better character? Not only is he obnoxious, annoying, and kills the mood in any scene he's in (including the would-have-been-cool introduction of the Surfer) but he's just irritating to look at. He struts around like he owns the movie and he is no less annoying than in the first movie. The Torch used to be cool in the comics, he's a big dickface annoying piece of shit in BOTH of the movies. Also, Michael Chiklis is the best cast character, but he's left to run around with Evans bicker with him, what a waste. The writers basically insult the comic roots with The Thing, constantly making fun of his lack of ears, lips and the fact that he is rocks. Fuck Chris Evans and fuck Tim Story, they should jump off a bridge together.
Successful 'Australians'

Whenever you see an Australian talking about a successful and talented 'Australian', be suspicious. More often than not, the person they are talking about is actually a New Zealander. Case in point: "Australian director Jane Campion". Yes, you guessed it, New Zealander. I've talked to Latauro about this before...

that most of your complaints are about things that happen in the comics as well? if you're ragging on the movie for those reasons, you're ragging on the comic. not that that's necessarily bad, i just hope you realize that.

is real ones like Baz Lurhmann.. currently there is a strong media campaign around the shooting of Australia, his next feature..lots of PR and little newspaper and tv snippets.. it looks woeful, let alone the ridiculous title...let's see if he can tackle drama (i mean he IS remaking Gone With The Wind)..because he sure did musicals very poorly...Just throw more GLITTER at 'em btw gawd those show intros are awful

FF2 still had some annoying shit in it like Alba's creepy eyes. I was in a theater where people laughed when first came on screen. You're not suppose to laugh at Alba, loose blood from head maybe but for sure never laugh.

Had a beautiful honeymoon in NZ, and everything was absolutely fantastic, EXCEPT for the psychos (obviously Tourette's sufferers) who went insane and started hurling abuse at us as soon as they caught the Aussie accent. We were like fuck! WE'RE here 'cause we LOVE the place! We chose it for our honeymoon! Why sling that stuff at US? But I guess they couldn't hear what with the ranting and spit flying and all. It was like a taxi driver being political/racist/both!

As for fake successful Australians, does Rupert count as fake successful or successful fake? And what about Rusty? WE'RE not claiming him, he's doing it himself - honest!

Hey Lat, any more insightful works of art for us? That's what you've been fucking around with all this time, right? I mean, Bazura takes what, a day? Big ;)s to you.

Mate.

People are embarrassed, but I say we should give them credit for overcoming their embarrassment and admitting that they liked FANTASTIC FOUR 2: SERIOUSLY, THERE IS A NAKED SILVER GUY ON A SURFBOARD IN THIS ONE. That takes some balls, I think.

Soon, I believe the first film will be reappraised. After, it's not all that different from the second one. Soon, all will allow their anger to drain away and admit that they love Fantastic Four. Also, that I was right all along.

Was it my post or the one by quantize? Quantize sounds Australian to me, so I guess it was mine. Chill out man. I was just trying to point out a mistake in the article in a somewhat humorous way. I guess I failed. Bear in mind that Oz claiming NZers as their own happens a lot and it gets rather irritating. As for the shit you say you got on your NZ trip, I'm in an Aussie WoW guild and all I get is a continuous stream of sheep jokes. So the shit flows in both directions my friend. Despite that I apologise on behalf of the whole of NZ for any hard time you got on your honeymoon. New Zealanders aren't as eloquently and witty as your average Aussie.

Chill out? No mate I was just pointing out the silliness of it all. I don't know about "more often than not" though as it implies the majority of the time and as a Kiwi you're going to be that much more sensitive to it as a pet hate. God knows Hollywood is infiltrated with Aussies, which is why I can't understand why they keep hiring Yanks to do godawful accents (probably because both they and the Kiwis are busy doing great Yank accents and they don't even realise).

As for Jane Campion, there are a bunch of factors that make that one understandable at least. Yep she's a Kiwi but she lives in Sydney, and the confusion with Jan Chapman whose name is very similar and has been her (Campion's) producer and who IS Australian but works in N.Z., the fact that a lot of this comes from Americans who can't tell the difference a lot of the time as she works in Hollywood too.

The thing is though, any Aussie with half a brain (don't start!) who has seen Angel at my Table or The Piano would have half an idea that maybe just maybe she's a Kiwi. No need for the "eloquent" dig.

Ye it does get irritating especially with stuff like Neil Finn (Funn? Ho ho;)) and Splut Inz with people confusing Down Under for just Oz and all. But like I say there's Also Rusty Crowe muddying the waters who sort of reminds me of Greg Norman making money on his heritage then publicly disowning them the next. What are ya Russ? What ARE ya mate?!

The reason I made the analogy for fun up there is that I can ABSOLUTELY understand Kiwis being ticked off about the whole "Fush and Chups" thing. I'm sure the Canadians draw a tired sigh with the Seppos in exactly the same way. Yes the accents are so similar it's petty. Yes it's infantile. And in the same way it's a national weakness on the part of both the U.S. and Oz. And I fully admit I'm hostage to it too. It just never stops being funny in that 4-year-old snigger-y kind of way. I work in the film industry and there is a lot of crossover between the Aussies and the Kiwis and I must say everyone is pretty damned good-natured about that sort of thing and regards it as the simple silliness it is which is cool! It's also similar to the 'clichéd Irish' thing I guess (having Irish and Polish b/ground ALL the jokes are about me!).

So yeah, that's why the 'troll' silliness. Just making light of it all. As you say the shit flows BOTH ways, which is why I shared my boring honeymoon story. But let me ask this, was it an Aussie or Kiwi that made Black Sheep? And can you put sheep in WoW?

Fuck me I've killed yet another thread!
