No way is Jedi the best. Anyone with half a brain knows that Empire is HANDS DOWN the strongest film of the series. Jedi may be your favorite but it is in no way the best one. And the only thing the new three did was create holes in the original trilogy.

More light-saber action than that one John Ritter movie with the glow in the dark condoms. Jengo Fett was cool, Lee was cool, and Yoda with a mutha fuckin light-saber is beyond cool. And for some reason the droid factory scene is my favorite even though it was thrown in at the last minute.

Robot Chicken used to show the new episodes on Friday (about 4 months later?) but now they are back in rotation. Maybe there will be something on teletoon's website... At least they are showing the Venture Brothers on Mondays and Fridays, which helped me catch up with that series. Went out and bought the DVDs last week to see the "behind the sceens" stuff.

is pure true star wars. I dont get the hate. Ewoks aint too amazing, but doesn't exactly fuck it up. I say the final installment in each trilogy is the best. Jedi has EVERTHING at stake... and SITH also has EVERTHING to lose, and loses it! It dark... and the moment that Padme and Obi-wan arrive on Mustafar, the true tragic nature of the entire prequel trilogy becomes clear. Its fantastic. SITH should not be talked about in the same breath as Clones and Menace. I didn't HATE either of them, but SITH is way superior.

the good Star Wars movie
by Napoleon Park

was the movie called Star Wars.

so successful the creator of it said he's do nine in all. Two sequels in the trilogy, than another trilogy after that and a prequel trilogy.

Well, he gave us the triligy, the prequels, two Holiday specials and the clone Wars cartoon show, so that's nine. He lived up to his part of the bargain.

But everything else other than the movie called "Star Wars" was just a toy commercial. "Jedi" was a Muppet movie made to sell teddy bears. And the "Gremlins" dolls were cuter. It's true.

People complain about The force being a genetic mutation in the bloodstream and Anikin buiding C3PO, but Darth, Luke and Leia being one happy family was as bit a retcon at the time. True you know it is to be. Star Wars was a great movie. Not "Part IV", not "A New Hope", just "Star Wars". And, obviously, this goes without saying, but "Han shot first." And forget self defense, he gunned Greedo down to get out of paying a debt. That's how bad-ass the real Han Solo was before he got sealed up in a giant chocolate bar.

I am Boba Fett, the deadliest bounty hunter in the universe, I can only be killed if, oh, I don't know, if a blind man accidentally bumps into me. Yeah, that makes sense. Blind guys are like my kryptonite. Good thing I'm not a Daredevil villain.

"That's not true. That's impossible!" "And Leia is your sister." "That's not true. That's improbbable." "And Ewoks will defeat the Empire." "That seems unlikely." "And I built C-3PO." "Huh?" " And the force...that's just microscopic bacteria called midichlorines in your blood." "That's it. If you're not going to take this seriously, I'm leaving."

Fanboy buildup...

...ruined the prequels. I happen to like all of them and understand that it's supposed to play off of the Saturday matinee serials, b-movies, westerns and Kurosawa films. There's a lot of b-movie acting, which is intentional, surrounded by a lot of eye candy and spectacle, mixed with a little gunslinger-type action, war and samurai. For one reason or another, fanboys had this preconceived notion of what the prequels would be over the course of the long wait for them. So, when they were not what they had imagined them to be, they threw down and called them shit, which is totally unfair. They are all good films, in one way or another. They are what they are and be happy you got them at all. My point is, enjoy what you got and stop bitching.

It's not fanboy buildup or hype that ruined the prequels...it's the post-movie fanboy euphoria that is making SOME think they are still good movies. First of all, anyone that said that bad acting was INTENTIONAL is making shit up to support their cause. Lucas had ALOT of help with the screenplays for the original trilogy and it shows, since the dialogue in the prequels is god-awful. It's not intentional, Natalie Portman just can't act against bluescreen and Hayden is just made of wood. There is a VAST difference between the type of movies the original series was and the prequels...everything was changed and very little matched in tone. Having an amazing time at the theater is one thing, but when you go home and think about the fact that the entire reason that Anakin moved to the darkside was that out of nowhere voice over "Ya know, if I'm killed than you won't be able to save Amidala." I could SERIOUSLY go on all day about why we shouldn't have been expecting the same type of brilliance from a George Lucas that was not the young, hungry director of the 70's. He is definetely a marketing whore, but it made sence with the originals (he was trying to make the sequels w/o interference) but now he just does things 'cause he can. Shame. So...yeah, Phantom Menace was pretty much crap along with Attack of the Clones and I only enjoyed about 10 percent of Sith....shame.
I hope when Phantom Menace: Special Edition comes out..

I laughed out loud when I read that...And fanboy hype didnt tarnish the movies. George Lucas being too rigid is what it was. I am not going to say the series was ruined. I think that the argument about it having elements of b-movies, saturday specials, and kung fu films in there is a valid point but there is NO WAY anyone could convince me that they were intentionally acting bad. A lot of people want to hate on Hayden but I think his other movies prove he isn't a bad actor. Nor is Lucas a bad director. But just watch that one Star Wars special with interviews from Lucas and Harrison Ford where Ford talked about how both would get frustrated because Harrison wanted to think about his character and Lucas just thought it should come right out how it was written. All the stress of the fist one took its toll on Lucas so he got some help and just look how awesome Empire wound up being. Irvin Kirshner and Harrison Ford remade that whole scene right before he gets frozen summing up just how badass this series was. And this is the trilogy of all trilogies we are talking about so Lucas himself should have gone back and rewatched them a few times to take notes on things like who trained who and just how well Leia knew her mom. Hell, he could have just gone on a fan site and found the tightest knit prequel stories and paid some Star Wars junkie 20 bucks for it because it would have made some guy who still lives with his moms life totally redeemable. Lastly the whole medichlorines or whatever is just so done. Yeah science and spirituality is mixed in movies a lot but in this case it wasnt necessary. I am a spiritual person and have always thought that you could change the word "Force" to "Faith" and it would still make complete sense. You cant see it or touch it, there isnt a math equation for it. But you just know it is there. I think that is why the original one was so magic. Was that yeah it was a sci-fi. But none of it was ever explained. It was just all given to us and we dove right in with it. (On the same note but from the different side of the coin I actually thought of the comic run where Spiderman found out about some mystic powers relating to his sci fi side and hated it because I felt like that story never needed to be explained). Anyway, Ive rambled on way too long about this and need to get back to work but the bottom line is I can't WAIT to show my kids the original trilogy (widescreen VHS enhanced audio but no bonus scenes) and maybe when they are older just the special edition of Empire. But if they want to watch the new ones they will have to do that on their own time...

Saw it on the credits. Also they the only ones giving Joey Fatone work these days? Anyways when anyone complains about Jar Jar the jokes on them. Almost every single character in EP 1 either despise's or put's down Jar Jar in that flick. If they took him seriously it would be uncomfortable, but watching it again it makes me laugh as it did the first time. I think on the commentary even Lucas made some rips on him as well. Jar Jar is the galacitic punching bag. The RC was nice though, but too much OT. Any SW fag/fan in their 30's can do Vader and Solo jokes and post it on the internet. I wanted more prequel stuff, like Count Dooku, Grevious, and of course my favorite asian stereotypes the Trade Federation.

As a result of Lucas' involvement, Robot Chicken forfeited any sort of stinging satire. Nothing about the unprecedented marketing (exempting a lame and very safe "cereal" gag), nothing about Lucas tampering with the original trilogy (and milking business with repeated reissues), et al. There's a wealth of targets, especially Lucas' uncompromising commercialism: but instead of applying the bull's eye to Lucas, the writers inserted Bush jokes! WTF?? Jesus, no wonder Lucas participated in this sanitized homage. Any single episode of FUTURAMA is more poignant than this ass-kissing "comedy".

Overall, it wasn't a bad piece. Some skits really shined, but some were mediocre. Still love the Emperor's phone conversation with Vader about the Death Star destruction, as well as Jedi Bush. Agree with you, 100% As evinced by the opening, you would have thought Green and Co. just wrapped a marathon Frank Herbert trilogy. It was really a lame clip show--and one that was so damn timid that Lucas applied his own impramateur. All gags, no satire (or risk the wrath of George)--it was about as biting as a Hallmark card. The network has really screwed-up this year, e.g. planting promotional cylinders in one city that were mistaken as terroist devices...releasing an Adult Swim movie that tanked (haven't seen it)...but this STAR WARS hype was the worst transgression of 'em all! No guts.

He made six movies that all made well over $300 million domestically. Believe me, alot of people like his movies. Stating your opinion that the ENTIRE prequel trilogy sucks as fact doesn't make you cool, it makes you an asshole. So what, they had flaws. Do you only like movies that are PERFECT in every way? BTW, which movies are those? And you know what, I have all 6 movies sitting next to each other and I rewatch AotC and RotS more than i watch RotJ or ANH. Also, who gives a fuck how much money Lucas makes? Name me the film maker who isn't in the business to make money. Are you telling me he doesn't deserve to make money? How many film makers put up as much of their own money to make their films as he has, or created effects companies that most films use today? No one has to buy his movies. If there weren't so many people out there who loved his movies, he wouldn't be able to keep rereleasing his movies. Also, to the guy who said he wishes Star Wars could divorce itself from Lucas, you're just stupid. Show me any Expanded Universe story or fan fiction that has been a better story than any of the six movies. He created it. If you're gonna let one ofr two scenes from any of the movies ruin the whole movie for you, well, it must be horrible living your perfectionist lives. If you're that incapable of joy, don't go to movies. Stay at home and film your old Star Wars action figures and make your own, better movie. How can anyone say that the scene where Anakin screamed "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!" ruined the movie for you? It was at the very end? That made the Emperor vs. Yoda fight less enjoyable? Seriously?
I enjoyed it

Disco Lobot ruled, I enjoyed the Cantina scene from a "different" perspective, the orientation was funny (but more so because it was referenced later by having officers in beards and mustaches), and the Aluminum Falcon scene is funny every time I see it. Yeah, it would've been nice to see more new content, but I ain't going to complain about something I get for free. Oh yeah, the Power Converters at the Tashi Station was pretty funny, took me a second.

"1) Yoda and the Emperor completely disappear for EPISODE IV, and Yoda isn't even mentioned by name.:

Yoda is IN HIDING and PRESUMED DEAD twenty years ago. The Emperor isn't necessary in Episode IV for any reason.

2) Padme is never mentioned AT ALL in the entire Original Trilogy, and Vader never references her when confronting the Emperor in ROTJ.

And what do you want? You want Vader to say "And THIS is for Padme!" when he throws Palpatine over the edge? Luke and Leia don't remember her (the "real mother" Leia is remembering is Bail's wife, not Padme) and there's no reason to bring her up.

3) Yoda hides on Dagaboah, Leia hides on Alderaan... but they fuckin' give Luke to the Skywalkers on Tatooine? And have him keep the Skywalker name???

Too few people caught the whole idea to this. Dagobah hides Yoda because of a lot of Dark Force Energy (the cave) which makes it so the Emperor can't sense him there. Leia is NOT as strong in the Force as Luke, and thus was never sensed as a Skywalker in the first place. Luke and Ben are on Tatooine because it, too, has a heavy Dark Force presence from the time when Anakin slaughtered the Tuskin Raiders, and because it's in the one place in the galaxy that Vader has no desire to ever visit again. Keeping the Skywalker name on Tatooine is kind of like keeping the "Nguyen" name in South Korea. No Big Deal.

4) The Force is supposed to be strong in both Luke AND Leia, but they never realize that they're brother and sister?

They never say the Force is strong with Leia. They say the Force runs strong in their family, but Luke is still the one who matches or exceeds Anakin's power levels. Not Leia. This is why she was trained as a diplomat and why Obi-Wan went to be near LUKE, not Leia.

5) Ben turns into a total mind-fucker: "You're father wanted you to have this when you were old enough." Read: "I just happened to pick up your Dad's lightsaber after I chopped off his legs and arm. Here ya go!"

This is no different than half the backwards cultush behavior of the Jedi Order. Luke was fed a lie his whole life, and to tell him all in one swoop "Oh, by the way, your father was actually my apprentice, turned evil, killed your mother, and I had to take him down but he survived and became the most evil man in the galaxy-- Here's his lightsaber." would have knocked Luke on his ass. Kenobi was trying to be subtle and get Luke to go to the Force through hope, not revenge.

5) Uncle Owen doesn't remember C-3PO AT ALL??? He still has the name C-3PO, for fuck's sake!

C-3PO is not his "name", but his MODEL NUMBER. There are THOUSANDS (or more) C-3PO units in the galaxy, from thirty years ago at that point. He's no different than an old car or toaster. If you saw a Ford F-150, would you think it was the exact same Ford F-150 your stepmom owned 25 years ago? Droids are THINGS, not individuals, and they are mass-marketed. Unit designation can be unique, but in C-3PO's case, he was a busted, wrecked C-3PO protocol droid that Anakin found in the junk, and put back together with a few new pieces. He wasn't original, unique, or special beyond being allowed to exist for a long time without a memory wipe (which causes droids to develop personality quirks).

Say it with me: C-3PO is not a name. It's a MODEL NUMBER. That's all. You could walk into a droid shop and find a whole stack of them, I'm sure.

Gawd, it was pretty funny y'all. It's like the show owes you money or something the way you hate on it for not amusing you enough. Made me laugh. What's not to laugh about the Emperor on the phone with Vader talking about Panda Bear or whatever she was called (puts hand over phone 'omg he's crying!!" to Sith buddies listening in, proceeding to make 'wanker' hand gesture while soothing Vader. That's hilarious. Han Solo cryogenically frozen getting bitch-talked by Boba Fett? (god help me if I got the wrong Fett there.) Seriously, if you didnt like it, who gives a fuck. It was funny. Chewbacca walking up to the bathroom mirror with a comb and going"hrrrrr?". High-larious you cunts.

The one thing that I never liked about the PT is how they apparantly steal away babies strong in the force and then force them into this life as virgins and dogmatic practioners of the Jedi Order without them ever having the chance to decide for themselves if that's what they want. That's why Anakin rebelled. Why should h have to go his whole life without getting laid?

I dare you! Where do you live? I want to "discuss" this with you!!!! Just kidding. But seriously, you have got to stop with your high mindedness. More people than not enjoyed Star Wars 1-3 and to just state your opinion as fact makes you an asshole. Opinions are NOT fact. There's a difference. There's a difference between you saying that the Prequels are God-Awful and saying you THINK that they are God-Awful. It just annoys people when you come here and try to make people who liked these movies feel like they're inferior to you. I understand why you didn't like them but I think some of the reasons you gave don't really make sense. Who cares that Yoda wasn't metioned in Ep 4? What would be the point? And who gives a shit that VAder didn't mention Padme? It's obvious he had a wife cause he had a kid! Why is it necesarry to use her name? To whom was Vader gonna talk to her with? To Grand Moff Tarkin on the brigde of the Death Star? Right before they landed on Hoth after he force choked his Captain? To Lando after he got done torturing Han? I guess you wanted him to talk to Luke about her when he was trying to turn him to the Dark Side.

Do you think Hitchcock would have tampered with THE BIRDS because he could insert CGI footage to substitute for an inferior technology? Do you think Orson Welles would have tampered with CITIZEN KANE, perhaps appending deleted scenes or colorizing the film to capitalize on reissues? Do you think George Lucas would--oh wait, he already did. As for the gutless ROBOT CHICKEN; it was more of a valentine than a satire (Seth and Co. thanking Lucas for his participation. Wow, that's undiluted Ken Russell bravura). Sucked.

I was laughing my ass off at that and fuck all those haters that are only happy when Lucas is being insulted. LUKE: "But I was going into Toshi Station to pick up some power converters." OWEN: "You can waste time with your friends when your chores are done." There was more realism and drama in the Smith/Neo fight in the original "Matrix" than Obi Wan/Anakin and Palps/Yoda put together. "My name...is NEO." Trumps "I HATE YOU!" any day of the week and twice on Sunday. The PT substituted CGI for plot, story and character development every chance it got. Mannequin Skywalker Lives.
