I'm looking forward to this My Name Is Bruce. Should be some good, cheesy fun.

I have to say, though, a Bubba Ho Tep sequel without Bruce does seem a bit pointless. His doddering Elvis was easily the best thing about the first one, so unless they're going to use other aging celebrities to battle monsters and whatnot, I don't know how this Bubba Nosferatu could work. Bruce Lee joins forces with Jim Morrison, maybe? I would probably watch that.

is this the perfect fan movie review? enough small moments to assure all of us that he was actually there...enough in references to assure us that he's a real fan..realistic writing to assure us he's a real person and not a plant...writing is not so retarded that people think he's a studio guy trying to appear NOT to be a plant...great little moments from the film to get geeks excitied...enough synopsis that a person who doesn't know Bruce from Adam might be interested...no spoilers whatsoever...some inside info to get us excited about side projects...and last but not least, a geeky but not overdone ScreenName

it just might be perfect! but then again...I'm pretty drunk...

Really, I don't think you can neuter a sequel/prequel to "Bubba Ho-Tep" more grievously than by removing Bruce Campbell from the equation. This news is either untrue or is the result of absolute madness.

So Bruce hasn't been approached about a BUBBA HO-TEP sequel yet. It could just mean that there's nothing concrete on the table yet, so they haven't even bothered to call yet. When the film gets some actual traction, you can be assured that he'll be the first person speed dialed...

...some girl DARES to have some opinion that doesn't fall exactly into line with all the sycophantic sheep in the audience and, despite the fact that Campbell himself is all class about it, the idiot sheep masses hurl abuse and the gutless reviewer here slams her on the net and calls her a bitch without even bothering to put forth what she originally said. What a douche.

Campbell is cool. Nice guy. Funny guy. Can even genuinely act when given a proper role. And few people play the charismatic bumbling hero schtick better than him these days. But let's face facts, he's also starred in a whole bunch of absolute shit, and even written and/or directed some real stinkers. Saying that isn't an insult, and it's not a slam, it's simply a fact. I dig The Bruce. His more sycophantic fans, not so much.

Don Coscarelli was at Fango's weekend of horror, and he said that their still trying to lock in money for the film, but that he had a few financiers lined up. So who knows? Someone better put some money up for this picture. We need a part 2!!

When someone who has a penis asks if he's gonna see yours, the natural, nay, the logical!, inclination would be to wonder if the guy's gay. Maybe Bruce should've been more pc and asked, "Are you bi-curious? B/c if you are, I'm okay with you wanting to see me naked." If you're such a whining prick that hearing someone asked if they're gay causes you disenchantment maybe you should start posting at Hatrack. They make everyone here sound intelligent. Yes, even me. And, if Bruce Campbell isn't in a Bubba Ho-Tep sequel, then maybe it shouldn't get made. Oh, and Alien Apocalypse was so bad it was entertaining. Especially the fake beards! You can even see one falling off an extra.

It's one thing to have a "differing opinion" of a person, actor, film, whatever. It's another to go to a SCREENING of that film, where the actor will be there in person, and say something negative about them in the middle of a theater full of (obviously bigger) fans. Not sure why that's so hard to comprehend as "probably shouldn't do it." That'd be like paying to go to a concert for a band you hate just so you can sit in the front row and yell, "You suck!"
The insult?

What was the nature of the insult? And torgos is right, what's the point of chastising the speaker when he's addressing a huge legion of fans? And, God no, Campbell isn't a bigot. The guy asked a loaded question and Campbell replied with a loaded answer. Gotta love ALIEN APOCALYPSE, another one of the Sci-Fi Channel's home movies. The beards appeared to have been loaned-out from MST3K's prop department. I remember, years ago, I was the only "sneak preview" attendant who loved ARMY OF DARKNESS. Everyone else was whining about the deficiency of clinical violence and they didn't have a clue (really!) that the carnage was Stooges homage. One local critic beefed, "This thing will sputter out and die over the weekend, never to be heard from again." Nice prediction, Criswell--you dumb douchebag.

BUBBA HO-TEP SUCKED MY BALLS

I'm a Bruce Campbell fan from way back - my friends and I even contacted him once for a movie we were trying to make and got a very nice response from the man himself. That said, I couldn't even make it through the first 20 minutes of Bubba Ho-Tep. I hated it so much I found it PAINFUL to watch. Poorly shot, draggingly slow, vulgar and childish. I don't understand what people see in that fucking movie. Are they really so blinded by their love of all things Bruce that they can't see it is total crap? I would rather watch his awful made for TV Herbie movie (The Love Bug, 1997) than watch another 20 minutes of Bubba.
sorry guy!

your entitled to your opinion, but Bubba ho-tep was anything but poorly shot. Vulgar? I think not. Don Coscarelli is a very good director, and it was a very solid film. Plus it was one fun movie to boot. That's just my opinion. Yes I'm a Bruce fan, but I'm also a fan of Don Coscarelli's, and I loved that movie.

I'm glad you liked it, I just don't understand how. As for Coscarelli, I have fond memories of Phantasm and Phantasm 2, but - at least in my opinion - they don't hold up all that well, even if they're still kind of cheezy fun. Phantasm 3 and 4 on the other hand are just crap straight across the board. And his episode of Masters of Horror, was okay - probably his most polished work in my opinion - and yet it still felt a little amateur hour to me. What exactly makes him a good Director in your book? Survival Quest? Honestly, I'd put him in league with hacks like Ewe Boll if you want to know the truth. Just my opinion though - the guy has a career making movies, so he's doing a lot better than me. (so far anyway) As far as vulgarity goes - it never really got offensive to me - I hope I didn't give that impression - I just found the dirty-old-man/bodily function humor to be really sophomoric.
Or, yo darkman...

10:49:07 PM
And not "good" bad...Just bad. The man has a legion of fans for some reason. His tv show was cancelled quickly (Brisco County) and his movies don't make a dime. He will literally star in anything if you can afford him (he said it, not me). I guess Evil Dead 2 is the reason he's a legend in the geek community? Army Of Darkness was "ok" and Bubba Ho-Tep was decent. Nothing legendary about any of 'em. It also helps me to know that he's a prick in real life, so that may be why I don't like him.
The reason he may not be in Bubba Nosferatu....

Is that he's hard to work with. Don Coscarelli is an amazingly nice man who keeps a stable of mellow, pleasant actors around him on his films. Bruce Campbell is a bit of a diva on set. Sorry kids, but it's true. He loves his fans as long as they open their wallets (another Campbell quote I heard during his book signing btw).

Just have him play Elvis again. That'd be the only reason for making the sequel if Bruce isn't involved. Personally I'd rather see Don just do one more Phantasm film with a difinitive ending or even just do another original work. Hell, I even enjoyed his Masters of Horror episode with Moonface.

And i pretty much agree with everything the reviewer had to say. The film was funny as hell, lots of inside jokes, and will play very well to Bruce fans, or like minded folk who dont mind silly humour, and cheesy efx. Mind you, the EFX werent on this print, but the film works for what it is. Its a great little premise, and i think everyone involved pulled it off. Will it make any money, probably not, but should work its way onto SCI-FI, and do some biz on DVD. I would buy, its that funny. As far as the gal who insulted Bruce, i dont recall much of that, but will say the crowd was NOT very rude to her, just some boos. Just what you would expect from a house full of fans. It was all taken very well by everyone in attendance. I must say that one of the drawbacks to going to a screening full of fans, especially Comicon type things, is that there is ALWAYS someone in attendance, who asks some dumbass question, or insults the guest. I dont get it. Thats not 'keeping it real', or stating your opinion. Most times it just comes off as being rude. I would never pose a question to a guest, or say something to them in a crowded room, that i wouldnt say to them if we were having a one on one conversation. Now, having said that, this was a FESTIVAL screening, so you have to expect some folks were not big fans. They may have just looked in the brochure and thought the film looked funny, or they know the BC name from his tv shows. So, we might wanna cut them a little slack. Speaking of TV shows, one thing Bruce mentioned, that i dont think was mentioned here, is he is filming a new TV show for the USA network called 'BURN NOTICE'. I think it airs this summer, but he didnt say anything at all about his exact involvement. Also, i was alble to film the 22 minute Q & A after the film, with my cheap HD camcorder, so i might ask Harry if they want the footage for the site, or i can toss it up on YouTube if folks are interested. I wasnt very close, but u can see Bruce, and clearly hear all the questions and answers. Win

Don's had an uneven career for sure, but I'm pretty sure he hasn't always had the budgets to really pull off his movies. I mean Phantasm alone was made for almost no money, and yet it was still a pretty bold film for a no money movie. Yes some of it does come off a bit cheesy now a days, but it's still a classic, and you have to respect it for the conditions of which it was made. I guess I always felt that the man really does a lot with no money, and you can tell that if the man got more money we'd really be in for a great time at the movies. I believe Bubba ho-tep was made for just under a million, and yet I found it to be very well made for such a low budget. I also respect the man for trying to make different types of films. I mean could you really see a studio trying to make a movie like Bubba Ho-tep? As for the master of horror thing. Well I enjoyed his part of the show to some extent. Nothing great, but not too bad. Hell even though I liked some of the other shows of the series I thought most of them came off as cheap, but I know they really don't have the money as well. I think they get something like 2 million to pull off their shows. Now I'm not saying you can't really make a great movie for no money, but since your a film-maker you know that money certainly helps when your trying to get your vision across. Just my opinion. Good conversation though!!

I guess I can respect what he was trying to do with Bubba. I mean it is something different and the concept is fucking golden - but to me that makes it an even bigger disappointment. I think I would rather see Coscarelli working more in a producer/creator role, because he seems - to me - to be a creative guy who's kinda terrible as a director. And Quake, I would be really diappointed if what you say about Bruce being a diva was true, but it is certainly not what I have experienced. When my friends contacted him for the film we were trying to make he was very cordial and encouraging. Granted it was just one phone call and we never got the thing made, so I'll never know how he would have been on the set, but I can't imagine the friendly fellow on the phone suddenly turning into a dick.
