He too was around 25. His name ironically was Frank. Great guy. Always enjoyed life and never once let his condition bring him or anyone else around him down. It's really one of those things that does not get brought up much in the media as being a disease that shortens life for so many. Very sad, my condolences to her family.

She was the cute punk rock chick that couldn't handle being on the show. I'm sad to hear about what happened to her, I always thought she was adorable and charming. She was far too young to leave this world. RIP.

The episode where she passed out while she was on the phone with her boyfriend was genuinely disturbing, but fascinating at the same time. She stuck out like a sore thumb on that show and that's what i liked about her. RIP Frankie.

You took the time to say hey I did not know this person, they must not deserve to be remembered. You make the world a more horrible place. You have proven yourself to be very sick and lonely individuals. I imagine you lash out at the dead because you rightfully fear that only your mommy is going to care when you die, and even that may be iffy. Why not put your keyboards away, I know you have the right to freedom of expression but you pervert even that. I wanted to see comments like that in here only slightly less then I would enjoy Anal Cancer. So go play in traffic I would be interested to see if anyone brakes. You would not get a talk back or even be noticed... Rest in Peace Frankie.

It's not cool that a person died. It's not cool that she was suffering from a debilitating, painful illness. But...As I recall, she was on the show for exactly two episodes, then decided to start whoring around on her boyfriend with some random she met in San Diego. At least editing made it seem that way. MTV made her seem like a whiny, teary-eyed cutter, the least likeable person in the house..the 'outcast'. Right about now, the guys at MTV are probably all turgid with the prospect of a we 'heart' Frankie day or something, with a slow Fiona Apple song playing in the background of slow motion moments of her seeming to be happy, when in reality all I can remember is that she left home for the first time and IMMEDIATELY started whoring around on the guy she supposedly loved. I normally don't watch the Real World until after the season's over and I happen to catch the marathon on a Sunday, and I'm not doing anything else. Sorry Frankie's dead, but don't let MTV fool you; they edited her down to her ugliest points, in my opinion, and did to her what was necessary for MTV's "Real" World to save face when someone ditches it. Frankie Abernathy....sorry you're dead, and no one should really comment about your life based on some corporation's view of your personality. Condolences to your family.

But I have to admit that when she started freaking out about setting sail, I found myself getting madder and madder and thinking "Get on the freakin' boat already!" She probably considered Titanic a horror movie. Anyway, off topic, but does anyone know that was Beetlejuice from the Stern show on the Sopranos finale in the scene when Tony goes to visit Uncle Junior? I would have asked the Sopranos talk back, but it's gone.

I hear what you guys are saying, but CF sufferers generally die in their 20s and early 30s. She knew she didn't have much time left, no matter what she did. Not smoking wouldn't have magically helped her life to the age of 40.

But they never appeared on TV so they don't deserve an obit on AICN.

However, I happen to be of the opinion that the life of an ordinary person is every bit as important as that of someone who is well- (or slightly-) known.

I find the desire to express grief about a person that one has never met to be curious. Not necessarily wrong, but it does seem odd to me.

a woman died. the most convincing reason there should be no talkback here is because of the fucking morons posting who are too removed from reality to have some measure of respect for human life. fuck all of you, i hope some day you come around and i hope it doesn't take someone you love dying to make that happen. people loved this woman and are sitting around crying that she is dead, while you sit around making tacky, bullshit remarks i am not gonna even raise to the level of 'jokes'-- because a sense of humor does require some level of empathy with other people.

Everyone dies. They don't all deserve talk-backs. I don't know why this one did. Because she was sick? Because she was on a crappy TV show? Perhaps it was because she was a chick, and we should all feel sorry for her. Or was it because of the combination of all of the above? Thousands of people die every day; and I'll make jokes about each and every one of them if I want to. If that actually bothers you that some guy made jokes about this chick dying on a message board, then you really should examine how seriously you take this whole 'Internet' thing and lighten up... In closing, this chick is still dead as a doornail. Which never made sense to me at all. Are doornails less alive than other types of nails?

you've got my sympathy. just like the family of this lady does. even though i doubt i am ever going to meet anybody involved with either of you. it might be idealistic or whatever of me but i prefer to see stuff like this as an opportunity to honor somebody's life for a second-- whether she 'deserves' it because she was on a reality show isn't the point, the fact of the matter is she died and that from my (and i'm sure, yours too) point of view is worthy of respect. if the internet makes more people aware of the fact that she was alive, then so much the better. grief is ultimately a pretty private thing and the internet is never going to be able to convey anything genuine about it--- i feel like if anything, herc put this up because he was a fan of this chick and he hoped people who felt the same way would come here to honor her memory, and he'd be able to direct her family here to show them that in some small way, she had mattered in way they never even expected. it is a bummer to see the majority of posts be about whether she even 'deserves' to be remembered here. people everywhere have sympathy for the families of people who die that they don't know--- that is why there are obituary pages.

Anyway i've said enough. if it's worth anything to you, i am truly sorry for your loss.

She choose death.

Now a days, she could had lived well into her 40s, if she didn't chain smoke like nobodies business. They've seriously improved the life expectancy through new treatments and drugs. My best friend has CF, and he's 36. Life isn't always grand, but he still works a full time job, and has a fairly normal life. She could had lived another 20 years, but chose not to bother.

I was addicted to this show for the first 10 seasons, watched it religiously. But then I stop 'cause it just got too repetitive, and predictable: you always have the token slut, black guy/girl, racist hick, virgin, etc., there's lots of sex and infidelity, not to mention drunken arguments, shouting matches and fights. It seems like the earlier seasons were not so formulaic. Anyway, I believe she's the first Real World alum to die since Pedro of season 3 fame (the season in SF). Can anyone confirm this?
