I dumped the Buffy comic as soon as they tried to pass off "The Girl In Question" with some shitty excuse about Buffy-doubles (which was like the third panel, I think. If you write a bullshit idea, see it through, don't try to make up for it with more bullshit. From what I've heard, it didn't get any better (a returning not-so-big not-so-bad for example). VM still has some ends that are very loose, so get that comic made, Rob.

The debut issue of Buffy 'season 8' is in its third printing, and the second issue is in its 2nd. So there is an audience, still, even after 4 years for it. I ordered the first 4 issues online, and that's how I found out about the reprintings.

I hope Rob Thomas has great success with the comic book, but Kristen Bell's performance was an almost irreplaceable, large part of the show. Even though Kristen Bell is not Veronica Mars... Mind can do funny things, having seen three seasons of the show and knowing well the character, it is a lot easier to map that knowledge onto printed form which leaves much to imagination than to any other medium (animated or radio play for example).

Although it almost seems like it would be even better to simply have books - as long as they are written by same (or at least similarly capable) writers.

I remember reading the leftover scripts for Crusade and Wonderfalls and while it was not the same as the actual show, it was a lot closer than I would have imagined.

about the chemistry and dialogue being the major attraction to fans. However, his logic about lining the pockets of the people you screwed you is flawed. If I like the characters (or the particular 'verse, if you will), I'm going to want to follow stories written in that particular universe. If they're well written, and fit with the tone of the show, and especially if they're written by the show's creator or under the direct supervision of the creator, than even better, and I'm happy to support it - thus the success of the recent Buffy comics. If anyone remembers, Buffy was a Dark Horse series while the show was still on, and they were non-canonical and mostly lite entertainment - although towards the end, covering the pre-Sunnydale days, the comic did begin to approach the brilliance of the show. Especially the divorce demons storyline.

anyhoo, if they went a darker, noir kinda Vertigo route with VM it could be interesting. Not Sandman Mystery Theatre dark but somewhat dark. As long as it's not teenybopper stuff, it could be good.

it's quite a career you've made for yourself there, anchorite. Barely 24 hours ago you were VM's ersatz campaign analyst. Today, you're doing general market research on the audience for a VM comic. next thing i'll find is that you had an associate producer credit on the show. hell, anchorite, maybe you're rob thomas's angry dark side? I don't have to prove anything , all the network cares about is money. If everyone with a neilsen box turned on Veronica Mars and then went outside for the night and never even watched 1 episode the network would still sell the highest ad rate they possibly could get for that neilsen rating. They care just about the bottom line , which is why the show is dead. If they cared about quality programming then they wouldn't have crap on like the pussycat dolls.

as a die-hard buffy fan, i was all into the comic idea for season 8. then i got the first two and realized that i'm just not into comics enough. i don't have the patience to sit there and look at all the pictures... which is kind of the point. i found myself just reading the dialogue like a book and i was bored. so for rob thomas to say that he wants to make a comic out of season 4 is very disappointing to me. i'll keep my fingers crossd for a movie, even though i know that won't happen. and i love judy greer but i'm too wary of new shows - especially sitcoms - to really take a chance on miss/guided. i guess bsg is my only real *love to see* tv left for next year.

(1) Rob Thomas actually writes at least some of it and oversees the rest. waving a hand and taking a check don't count. it has to have creative input from on top. That's why the Buffy comic is good and most comics based on TV shows suck monkeys. (2) they can capture Veronica's likeness well. halfassed artists or ones who would draw her with a Supergirl boobs and wasp-waist figure need not apply. (3) i don't have to read it. I grew sick of that show last season and hear from everyone who i know in RL who WAS a fan that it was even worse in third season. But for those of you who want it, more power to ya. I'll be waiting for the Cop Rock Season 2 comics with MP3 links on each page.

"I was more critical of the campaign than the show itself." My ass. He's trolled every single Veronica Mars talkback and thrown his shit around. It's okay to have an opinion, but at least be honest about it.

Let's put it simply: if someone's a VM fan and they like intelligent comics (and all that reading and pictures doesn't hurt their little brains), and if it's written intelligently like the show, than they'll buy the comic (or at least download it). I just don't see why people slag such a good idea - to see stories that the show's writers intended being presented in this form, when otherwise they wouldn't see the light of the day. No one's forcing anyone to read a comic if they don't want to. But if you do, then it's good fun. What's the problem?

VMars has a too small to live audience to begin with and only a fraction of that crowd reads comics and only a percentage of those would buy this comic.

So trying to find readers for a continuity heavy characterization based series would be a monumental uphill Sisyphusian task. The ONLY way this might have a shot would be to drop all continuity and the entire cast except for Veronica and her dad and relaunch/reinvent the series with Thomas' unused "Veronica Mars, FBI Girl" concept. Which might not be what Fans would expect from a book called "Veronica Mars Season Four".

Papercutz has boxed sets of the first four and second four all new full color Nancy Drew graphic novels by Petrucha and Murase priced at $29.95 each. The boxed set of graphic novels 1-4 also contains a Nancy Drew video game disc. I mean, if you want a story about a teenage girl detective solving crimes in her law enforcing fathers footsteps, why not go with the original?

And if you want a young female FBI cadet story, why not just license Karen Sisco or Clarice Starling for a comic book series?

I agree, Napoleon

As an avid comic book reader, I would most certainly pick up VMars, but most of the people I know who watched the show have never touched a comic book in their life. The chances of them starting with VMars is pretty slim. I just cannot see DC having the success Dark Horse has had with Buffy.

Following all the instructions but all I can see is a top 10 list and that's it. I tried installing itunes but I still can't see the top 100. I wonder if being in Australia has anything to do with it? I know I can't actually download the episode but I am interested in the top 100 data. Sorry! Some more help please if possible. Thanks.

I truly did like VM, but I also liked Karen Silas in "Under Suspicion", and I let that go pretty quickly.
And Veronica Mars a Vertigo title?

Is she going to run into Swamp Thing?
I'm all for it.

I'm on board for this as long as Rob Thomas is working on the story arcs.
