sorry to say. Two shows coming back from the dead in one season has got to be impossible. I would love to see more VM but I just don't see the passion for the show like Jericho had .

...don't get me wrong, I'm behind this and hopes it works, but it seems somewhat inconsistent. A ton of Mars bars would've made it very clear, but mixing in the snicker and now marshmallows makes it seem disorganized. How about push pins, and dominos, and flip-flops. Hopefully it'll still make an impact. And the iTunes mass purchase seems like a good idea.

How can VM kill in that poll every year and not come back, especially when it kicked Jericho's ass? I bought my Mars bars 24-pack, signed the petition and am downloading "The Bitch Is Back" off iTunes...let's all do our part and get this thing done!

The show has been on the brink of being cancelled for 2 seasons now and the ratings have stunk from the beginning. Why have they stunk? A few reasons , 1 of which being EVERY show on that network has poor ratings. Another reason is House and other competition on the other major networks. Another is the old you need to see it from the beginning BS that most series demand from the viewers. Anyway the marshmallows and snicker bars do fit in with the series. I will be buying that episode tomorrow.

to fix the whole 'You need to see it from the beginning' problem is simple. From when The CW renews it, to the start date of Season 4, they should make every episode available to stream via their web site. And they should make it an embeddable player (with ads) so that people can put them on their blogs, myspace pages, emails, wherever. THAT would give the hardcore fans an amazing way to spread the word about the show.
And I don't know...

Why anyone would move on to acceptance until after the 15th? After all, both Kristen Bell and Dawn Ostroff are STILL talking about that date as the time for the final decision. And I really don't know that VM fans don't have the same passion as Jericho fans. I mean, you're looking at something like $7000 raised in four 4 days, and half that time was the weekend! And that's not counting the money spent on the Hollywood Reporter ad, or the money that will be spent on iTunes. If this had started a few weeks earlier, the amounts wouldn've been unbelieveable. Jericho's campaign (which was amazing),occured over a longer period of time, so its just not comparable.
I agree

The problem though with this campaign as compared to the jericho campaign is the website activity is 1/5000th of what CBS had on its website. Also for some reason the press isn't nearly as interested in this as they were for Jericho. I think its just because everyone thinks that the show was lucky to have a 3rd season with the ratings it always had so thinking they will change their already made up minds about a 4th season is just out of the question. Still at least there is still a shot so I will be buying that episode tomorrow like all the other fans.

The Xbox live comment is good. If you have Itunes, buy it on itunes. Buy it on xbox live. Everybody move veronica mars season 1 and 2 to the top of your netflix, blockbuster, etc, queues and return the movies you have out. If you or anyone you know still doesn't have those dvds, buy them this week. hell, buy the soundtrack on itunes or amazon. Anything that will track its popularity.

Firefly, Arrested Development, Freaks n Geeks...

They all might have survived or even exist today if a pre-pay policy really could be pushed into the mainstream. I'm not pushing for the model to become standard but for shows that obviously appeal to only a small and most likely loyal/financially solvent segment, this could be something that could allow producers/creators to keep shows going long after networks abandon the series. Would I pay yearly for Arrested Development? I kept buying the DVD sets for myself and others! Firefly? Same. Freaks n Geeks? Yep. And of course VM - VM has cost me a bundle. I pushed that show on every friend and in turn they have lured others into it - I feel like a damn dealer. I've probably blown $300 over the course of the past two years on VM alone. I'll buy more than one copy of the bitch is back tomorrow too.

And they have agreed *not* to cancel the Mars Bar, or the Snickers bar.

Hey, remember when Enterprise got cancelled and people were seriously talking about the fans themselves raising the money to finance the new season? As I recall, one guy donated something like a million dollars to the cause.

All I'm saying is, I was disappointed by half of the Enterprise episodes that I got to watch for free. Imagine how disappointing it would be to pay a million dollars and then sit down and watch "A Night in Sickbay".

Has been talked about for years, but never proven feasible. The production values are just too high. Enterprise is the most prominent example, they raised millions with some huge donations, but didn't scratch the surface of what was needed. The differential between how many people watch a show on TV to how many people would pay to order it is HUGE. It just wouldn't raise enough money to actually produce the show. The only I could see something like this work, is if networks would let fans know what the gap number is-- that is, the differential between what the show is earning through its various revenue schemes and what it "Needs" to make to continue. But I don't see networks giving that number up, and I don't see big enough numbers of fans mobilizing even for something like that.

The campaign's raised a lot more than $2500... that number was from early Saturday. Also, it doesn't include Amazon, which is around $4000, the Hollywood Reporter effort, which was around $2000, and whatever gets spent on iTunes tomorrow... most of that all in one week.

Does arrive on the 14th. As for awareness, its slowly building. AICN, USA TOday Pop Candy, Zap2It, TV Squad, all wrote it up yesterday or this morning. The major blogs are on it today, look for major press before Thursday. And really, MOST Jericho press came AFTER the show got renewed. Back when JERICHO was in the midst of their campaign, I saw people telling them how stupid it was, what a waste of money it was, etc. Virtually the same things being said about VM fans now. Now that the Jericho thing worked, all people talk about is how well done it was. Wierd. Look, there's an economy of scale here. The CW is not CBS. The audiences sizes are smaller, and so are the respective shows of fan support. I just wonder what these people will say if this works? Everyone involved knows its a long shot. For most people, its a couple bucks and 5 minutes of their time. Definitely worth taking a chance if it saves rhe show.

maybe the mars bars and marshamllows weren't in time to save the show, but it'll still show the network what the fans are capable of and willing to do. and dealing with the product will be a hassle for them and i think that's worth the 8.50 i spent on candy.

as i posted over on ausiello's blog - i can't wait to see what rob thomas does next. i really hope he can keep some of the cast and crew together kind of like judd apatow and seth rogen have done since freaks and geeks. i think that the cast of veronica mars has great chemistry and i could see them working together again on various shows and/or movies.
we should've sent Semen to HBO for Deadwood

Cocksuckers should've united for that one. It's a much more noble cause than Veronica fucking Mars, with its Kristin Cavallari cameos and nonstop vomit inducing cuteseyness. In a world where that garbage (potentially) is resurrected while Deadwood perishes, I find myself a lost soul completely bankrupt of hope for the world.
